Perfect Assassins

Krissy:

I kissed him back happily, my hands snaking into his hair to grip it gently.  “I love you.”  I murmured into the kiss.  

Krissy:

Kyle cleared his voice, close to us.  “I believe it’s my turn.  May I cut in?”  He asked formally.  

Krissy:

I grinned up at my brother as we started dancing.  “You look happy.”  He said with a smile though he sounded almost sad.  “I am happy.  I am so happy.”  I said softly, putting both of my arms around his neck.  “Lexi told me.” I said after a moment.  His smile faltered.  I put a hand on his check and looked into the eyes that were only a shade lighter than mine.  “I’m happy for you, truly.  You’re going to have your own family.  I know you’re going to be a wonderful dad.”  I told him.  He grinned this time.  “I’m excited.”  He admitted.  I giggled softly.  “Life sure is changing.”  I commented. 

The rest of the dance was mostly us holding each other and laughing at one thing or another.  I was going to miss this the most.   

Kyle:

Once Krissy spotted Lexi dancing with Michael she abandoned me and went to retrieve her friend.  She pulled her away from Michael to dance with her instead.  They were nothing but giggles, still the little girls they were growing up, despite all that had changed.  I couldn’t help but grin as I watched them.  

Krissy:

Lexi and I were no match for Jack.  The best we managed was a goofy mock of the Tango.  

Krissy:

I was a giggling mess by the time they finished.  Lexi had already given up on me.  I gave a little round of applause.  “My turn Jack.”  

Krissy:

I blew  a kiss to Michael as I tugged Jack with me to the center of the floor.  

Krissy:

“What are you going to do without us Jack?”  I asked playfully, looking up as him with a happy smile.  

Krissy:

“Dear God Jack.  I would have thought you’ve learned your lesson by now…”  I grimaced.  

Krissy:

I looked sideways to Michael thinking of all the things we could do with no interruptions.  “Um.”  I said, trying to keep my thoughts off my face.  “I don’t know yet.  I’ve always liked helping people.  Maybe I will volunteer at a clinic.”   

Krissy:

“Thank you Jack.”  I said softly and leaned into him, resting my head on his shoulder as best I could.  “I’m going to miss you.  You’re going to have to come visit us.”  I said then added quickly, “After we’re settled in.”  

Krissy:

I smiled softly then went on my tippy-toes to kiss his cheek.  

Krissy:

I smiled softly and nodded.  I went to join my new husband.  “Sorry I abandoned you on the dance floor.” I smiled sweetly.
