Perfect School

Jonah:

“I think I would like to learn to scuba dive sometime.” I commented. “Maybe I can come up with some reasons why it would be beneficial to us so Marie would bring in a trainer.”

"She would probably agree. An amphibious assault is not an unheard of way to attack and kill your target." I replied as I watched the dynamic happening within the tank. The swarms of fish avoided the sharks, but I doubted that the sharks couldn't catch the fish if they grew hungry.

Jonah:

“I would enjoy that.” I murmured. After many tranquil minutes of silence, I looked up at Kira. “Are you going to tell Marie everything that goes on today?” I asked her.

I didn't look at him but kept my focus on the shark. "Only if it mattered and if she asked.". I replied after a long time. "I don't report to her everything Jonah. I condense any report to her to be as concise and short as possible. She has an empire to run. I am but a small part of it."

Jonah:

I studied her. There was some kind of fondness there for me, I was sure of it. I thought it likely that she would keep things from Marie unless it would effect her otherwise. Kira wanted me to succeed. “How many have you killed?” I asked, eyes taking in the micro-movements of her face and body.

I glanced at him for a moment before sighing softly. As I gave him the kill amount I sounded almost disappointed but otherwise nothing else showed from my forrays into being a real assassin.

Jonah:

She had killed more than I had, including my unofficial kills. It didn't bother me, that wasn't a competition between us. We had plunged into the world of assassins and there was no turning back now.

I stood up and gave a small stretch. “Not much left to the aquarium. Let's get lunch before the museum.” I offered my hand out for her to take.

I hesitated as I looked at his hand. Finally though I took it, assuming he intended to use the contact to pull me along through the crowd.

Jonah:

My fingers laced through hers easily, appreciative of the friendly personal contact. Her hand was smaller and cooler than mine, I squeezed it lightly as I lead her back through the people to the exit of the aquarium.

“What sounds good to eat?” I asked her now that we were standing out in the bright, hot sunlight. Her hand was still held in mine, hanging loosely between us.

I soon pushed the thought of our hands out of my mind, "I know a place. Mediteranian. We just need to head to it, and it is a bit out of the way." Shielding my eyes for a moment I glanced around for our ride before leading us to it.

Jonah:

Once we neared the car I released her and climbed into the back seat. “Mediterranean sounds good. You've been there before?” I asked Kira when she joined me.

"It is one of the few places I have gone. I haven't spent much time out in the city. I am not...suited to going out in public at most times. Too different and it draws attention." I replied after giving directions. "Mostly though, I chose to remain at the penthouse or the training building with a few excursions to Marie's offices."

Jonah:

“If I had the freedom, I would go out often. I would explore the entire city until I was familiar with all of it.” I said while watching out the window as the buildings ran by.

"With the time left to you, you could go out and explore at your leisure. We are not prisoners, so long as we accomplish the training goals of the day." I closed my eyes and didn't open them until we had pulled up outside the building.

Jonah:

“Not much time left.” I answered. I somehow doubted that Marie would allow me to go exploring on my own.

"No. Not much time. But then we return to the school and you are in your element again." I replied as I got out. I stretched a moment then began to make my way inside without him. It was dimly lit inside and I waited until my eyes had adjusted to order a table for two.

Jonah:

I wasn't qute sure what my element was at the time, but being back at the school wasn't it. I had a taste of a larger life and that wouldn't be satisfied with monotony. I took a seat at the table and glanced over the menu before setting it aside and twirling the salt shaker on the table.

I ordered myself a Shwarma wrap and settled in to wait. My eyes roamed the place, noting the little differences here and there since last I had been in. A new arrangement, new staff, ect.

Jonah:

“I don't fell bad about what I did anymore. Maybe trudging it all up was actually helpful.” I said quietly after we ordered.

"Such is the way of things. Time heals wounds, and letting things out is the best policy." I replied as my green gaze settled on him once more.

Jonah:

“I never felt regret.” I clarified. “Just a sick feeling of doing something irrevocable.” The salt shaker fell to it's side, spilling white granules over the tablecloth. I sorted the crystals into a pile.

I watched him, noting how meticulous he was even with cleaning. I wondered then if he had any part of himself that he held to a substandard rate.

Jonah:

“Do you think I'm damaged?” I asked her, looking up from the table with bright blue eyes. I wondered how much Marie had shared with her, sure that there were somethings the annalists were talking about that I hadn't heard.

"That would mean that people can be perfect. I think you are as you are meant to be. You have places to improve, things to work through. But not damaged. You are sound of body, sound of mind, sound of emotion." I replied tactfully as I sipped at my water.

Jonah:

“I suppose.” The waiter came and placed our plates in front of us. My main flaw of ambition was still with me, though I had pushed it aside, knowing all I would have to do was wait. Not much could be accomplished as a fifteen year old.
