Perfect School

"Heh...yeah...". I didn't want to mention that my way of dealing with it was just throwing things at the guy. I was like a robbery gone bad.

Jonah:

I squeezed his shoulder once more. “We'll be leaving to the new house in a couple days. You'll fell better by then. Just get some rest.” I told him then left to check up on Kyra and Andrew. Kyra gave me short answers when I asked her how she had done. I left shortly after knocking. Andrew was similar, giving quiet answers.

I knocked on Kira's open door last and leaned against the door frame. “They aren't doing too bad.” I informed her. I didn't need to ask how she had done.

"Paublo I imagine took it the worst. He might not be made for this life.". I remarked without opening my eyes. After responding I had let the music play again, laying across my bed in shorts and a tank top.

Jonah:

“He did take it pretty hard. But there are many things you can do in this world without having to constantly kill.” I answered. He would be more suited for body guard work than an assassin.

"We will see. I am still right you know. Back when you asked me who to place on a team. The two members who didn't get picked performed flawlessly in their trial." I opened one eye to look at him then closed it. "We could have avoided much trouble if you had listened to another."

Jonah:

I stared at her in silence for a long moment. “Yes. Emily was a mistake, I've said that. And I apologize to you for the inconvenience it gave you. I was wrong, and I deeply regret my decision there.” I said after a minute. “But I don't regret choosing Paublo, and I do not think I will.”

I only shrugged. "Time will prove one of us right. You and I are covered should the team be broken up. I'm sure the others have their own places to return too after all is said and done."

Jonah:

“Yes.” I was unsure of Paublo's home. He was a poor liar and I had always heard the lie when he spoke of his parents. I didn't think he had anywhere to go. “We will see” I shrugged. “Get some rest, you look pale.” I commented.

"I did the task without blood. But I still expected to see blood." It was his only reply from me as I reached over to turn the music up a little bit louder.

Jonah:

I closed the door as I left. Everyone in the school seemed to keep to themselves that day. Even at dinner there were few students eating at the tables. I focused on preparing for the departure from the school as I had no plans on returning, not for any amount of time. I cleaned my entire room and packed my things into two suitcases.

Kira:

I was one of the few to visit the cafeteria, though I didn't linger. Instead I made my way to the gym and settled into a light workout just to burn off some steam. You could feel how the entire school was affected by today, the air thick with hidden tears and quiet pain.

Jonah:

The next couple of days passed quickly. We would be going to the new house before break, we would have a couple weeks there to settle in before anyone left for vacation. I was looking forward to it, even with the unsettled dynamic between myself and Kyra. I would have closer access to Kira, more so that I did now, and I spent more than half my days in close contact with her.

Over the past several months I had tried to take a step back from her emotionally. I knew that Marie would be watching me for changes. I focused on keeping my relationship with her mostly professional with only occasional friendliness. That might change now that we would be sharing closer quarters. I simply had to ease her into it slowly.

Kira:

I shouldered my backpack as the car pulled up outside of our new home for the coming days ahead. Behind me I heard paublo grunt as he exited the SUV and stretched his legs. I didn't feel a bit bad for taking the passenger seat and forcing him to sit behind me in the cramped space.

Kyra:

There were two brick houses side by side. I mistakenly believed one was for Kira and I and the other would be for the boys. In fact, on house was ordinary living space with six rooms, a library with a projector screen, a well stocked kitchen, and a nice living room with a fireplace.

The second house was meant for training with a set up similar to the school's. We would be entirely left to our own devices except for one day out of the week when a teacher would come to check in on us. I explored the two houses with my brother in tow.

Kira:

I went inside the living house after a brief moment of indecision. Claiming a corner room I started to set up my things and putting everything with neat practiced ease. I made several trips out to the car but in the end it was Paublo who was proving to be the most valuable in this as with only a soft grunt he carried several things inside, heedless of whom it belong too. It was all left in the living space for people to grab as necessary and with his help I had gotten my things put away within no time.

Jonah:

I helped with a few bags then moved my things to the other corner next to Kira's chosen room.  The upstairs consisted of a hallway with nine doors, the three middle doors were the bathrooms, all others were bedrooms.  I put my things away quickly then surveyed the rest of the property and the training building.  

We were set in the country away from the city and other houses.  There were thick trees to one side of the property and an open, endless field to the other.  It was rather peaceful.

Paublo:

It was easy to put away my things. Everything I owned fit into a large backpack and so unpacking was a breeze. Beyond that I really owned nothing as every item I owned was a gift from either the school or from the man who'd dumped me off at the school. Once I was finished I went to explore the kitchen and pantry, looking over the available tools and food options we had for us to use.

Jonah:

After giving us brief instructions, the drivers departed leaving us one SUV behind for emergencies. We had all gone through driving training in the past six months, and we each had a set of alternate IDs if needed.

I sought Kira out after my exploration of the property. “Come check out the creek.” I told her, nodding to the outside. It was through the woods a little ways, not visible from the house.

Kira:

I had resumed laying on my bed with music playing when Jonah came into my room. "You want to show me a creek." I stated back at him but slid off the bed and too my feet with a nod. "Fine. Let's go."

Jonah:

“You know how I like to swim.” I told her with a soft smile. I gestured for her to follow me then took her out of the house and into the woods. I meandered a bit on the way to the creek, choosing not to take the closest entryway through the brush.

I stood in front of the creek and watched the water trickle for a long moment, not saying anything.

I raised a brow, not actually aware he enjoyed the activity that much. And with a brief once over of his outfit deduced that we weren't going to be swimming. I followed along without a word. My eyes roamed over the landscape, taking in the sights until we stood by the creek. When he didn't speak right away I shifted over to a tree, settling my back against it while I folded my arms loosely and watched the flow move steadily through the creek.

Jonah:

I turned to look at her and took in the lines of her face for a moment before speaking. “I saw a few cameras in the house.” I said plainly. “I need to know if they are from the school, or are they Marie's?” I watched her closely for any tells, at this point I could read her pretty well.

"I don't know. Likely they are from our Oracle. We will be getting them today. Marie has mentioned she will be getting one in place for us. Get used to being watched Jonah. It's part of an Oracle's duty to know our needs, wants, and current state." I shrugged absently at the start of my speech only looking his way at the end.

Jonah:

“Mm.” I scanned the brush around us. “Find out if they are from Marie, will you?” I asked her. There weren't many camera's but if they were from the school, I would tamper with them, if they were from Marie I would discreetly redirect them. If they were from someone blatantly watching us, than I could use them to my advantage. I had to know who they were coming from.

"Does it matter to you that much Jonah?". I asked with an arched brow. "The school had cameras. Marie had cameras. It is better to accept their presence.". I informed him.
