Perfect Assassins

"He...killed the general too, remember?" Lexi tried, knowing she was so busted.

Kyle:

I let go of her. "He kissed you?" I said flatly.

Lexi sighed. Yup...So busted... "We were cornered, Kyle. He did it so our attackers wouldn't see my face and recognize me. It wasn't long after...after we escaped from Hione," she explained.

Kyle:

"And what did you do?" I asked crossing my arms.

"Nothing...really...I stood there in shock for a few minutes," Lexi mumbled, feeling her cheeks flushed as she remember Will asking her out not long afterward.

Kyle:

I watched her, seeing her cheeks flush, I sighed. "Goddamnit Lexi."

"Nothing happened!" Lexi protested. "No sparks, nothing! We got out of there as soon as the bad guys were gone."

Kyle:

I watched her face, her eyes, waiting for the sign of a lie. I didn't really believe her. I saw the way they looked at each other some times.

"I don't love him the way I love you," Lexi murmured, slowly moving closer to Kyle. She was sincere and meant it. Yes, she did love Will, but not nearly as much as she loved Kyle.

Kyle:

"But you still love him." I said quietly, looking back at her.

Lexi looked away, unable to look at his face. She couldn't lie to him, so remained silent.

Kyle:

I shook my head and let out a breath. "Well hell, Lexi. I don't know what to do with that. Why didn't you just flat out tell me?"

"I didn't want you to kill Will," Lexi sighed, looking back at him. "Back then, you would have without a second thought."

Kyle:

"I'd still like to." I muttered darkly. And Will had just started seeming not as terrible as say, Jake.

"You don't have to worry about him," Lexi gently thumped Kyle's chest. "Haven't you seen the way he looks at Ebony? Ever since I woke up, he's been like...all over her."

Kyle:

I watched her for a minute then looked away and sighed again. "Yeah? And how do you feel about that?"

"I'm fine with it. I have you and he has her," Lexi frowned. "Did you think I'd be jealous?"

Kyle:

"I didn't know." I said honestly. This wasn't a big deal, I told myself.

"Well I'm not jealous," Lexi reassured him, smiling. "I have someone better."

Kyle:

I looked back at her and slowly smirked. "Well of course." I said haughtily.

"Now don't get cocky," Lexi smirked, kissing him again. "Are you hungry? We can make dinner."

Kyle:

"I'm hungry, yeah." I said realizing just how hungry I was.

Lexi smiled, kissing his lips again. "Come on. We can make some steak or go out on the town..."

Kyle:

I put my arm around her waist again. "Whatever sounds good to you. I am up for any thing." I said pulling her closer.

"Whatever you want, baby," Lexi replied smoothly, winking at him.
