Ebony

I took a nice long shower before getting dressed in shorts and an oversized t-shirt. I headed into the kitchen humming softly. I went to the stove not noticing anyone else as i began to cook.

Kyle:

I watched her for a moment. I couldn’t tell if she was ignoring me or if she hadn’t notice. I stood up. “Do you need any help?” I asked.

Ebony

I jumped at kyles voice and nearly dropped the knife i had been holding. I looked at him with a surprised expression before finally relaxing and looking him up in down. I pursed my lips before pointing at him with the knife threatoningly. "Wash your hands first or i will have to start all over."

Kyle:

My lips quirked up at the sight of her holding the knife pointed at me. “You assume my hands are dirty.” I said but went to the sink and scrubbed them anyway.

Ebony

"All hands are dirty untill you wash them in y kitchen" i replied smiling a bit. I set out what i wanted himcto ct up for the stir fry while i set everything else up and began cooking the rice.

Kyle:

I smiled at her as I sliced what she had instructed me. I had to stop myself s=from staring at her. “So what are we having?” I asked focusing on what I was cutting.

Ebony

I continued working taking what he cut p and adding it to the wok. "Stir fry." I said simply. I wanted to be closer to him but i kept myself in check. It was difficult but if it made him happy then i would do so.

Kyle:

I finished chopping and leaned against the counter with my arms loosely crossed, just watching her work.

I got a bit of the sauce on my cheek with out realizing it. Tilting the pan a bit i let the flames catch the oil and sear everything. Once it was done i gestured to the cubbord with plates. "Serve yourselves." I said before turning off the stove and opening the lid for te rice.

Kyle:

I pulled out several plate and set them on the counter then dished up both myself and Ebony out of habit.

I smiled at kyle shyly and thanked him politely before heading over to the table and eating. Michael had grabbed krissy and his plate and had sat down next to her.

Kyle:

I sat down and was keenly aware of my sister watching me. I tried to ignore her but it was like ignoring a flashing neon sign. “Can you stop?” I demanded meeting her gaze, she blinked innocently. “I’m not doing anything.”

Ebony

I looked between the two of them wondering what was going on. I shot michael a questioning look but he just shrugged to sa he didnt know either. I focused on kyle trying to figure ut what was going on.

Kyle:

She stared back at me for a moment then deliberately turned to Ebony. “This is delicious. I’ve missed your cooking.”

I blinked and brought my attention back to krissy. "T-thanks. I didnt think it was that good..."

Krissy:

“Of course it is! You cook better than my mom!” I said then added, “But don’t tell her I said that… Don’t you think it’s good Kyle?” I asked. “Yeah, she’s a wonderful cook.”

I smiled and blushed at the compliment. I looked down at my plate and played with my food absently. Jesse came in grinning and walking up to me he asked. "Are you excited for yourcbirthday tomorrow ebony?" I looked up at him confused then motified. He was setting me up! My birthday wasnt for another week!

Krissy:  

"Wait, it's your birthday tomorrow?" I asked setting my fork down.  "Ebony!"

I shook my head rapidly and glared at jesse. "Its not...itscin a week..." i clapped my hands over my mouth at givng it away. I hated it when people gave me gifts, and so i was no fan of my birthday...

Krissy:  

"You should have said!!  We'll have to do something!  Ebony!  A week is not very much time to plan!  You should have given more notice!" I complained the whirled on Michael.  "You knew!  What didn't you say any thing?" 

Michael

I blinked and i held up my hands in defense. "Because i dont like celebrating my birthdays...they remind me too much of my parents..." ebony whispered softly before leaving the room.

Krissy: 

"Oh.." I settled down frowning.  Then stood up.  "Krissy, let her alone." Kyle said but I was already pushing through the door. 

Ebony

I was on the porch swinging absently on a porch swing. When i saw kriss i spoke up softly. "My parents always gave me something cruel, like a puppy that they would starve, or a hair brush which they would make me se to clean all of the surfaces in the house. I dont like gifts because of it..."

Krissy:

I sat down next to her.  "But wouldn't it be nice getting some thing that wasn't awful?  Making good memories to replace the bad ones?" I asked softly. 

I shook my head. "No thanks. Im fine." I said giving her a tired smile. "Come onlets go back in side." I finished with a yawn.
