Naveen

Rina:

I looked back to Talon realizing he was waiting. I shrugged. “Alright.” I I went over to the horses, loosening their saddles and removing the bags. I tied them both to the trunk of the tree.

Maleen:

I accumulated a few logs, they had been soaked when I found them but were perfectly dry now. I set fire to the center and it crackled into flames.

Wren:

I watched everyone working, my head tilted curiously. I wasn't sure what I was supposed to be doing, but everyone seemed to have a job, but I didn't.

Maleen:

I dried the ground under the tree as well as my own clothes and hair. I turned to see Wren watching everyone. I smiled and went to her side. “Mind if I dry your clothes? You might be more comfortable.”

I blinked at Maleen, tilting my head the other way. I was still confused as to what they were saying to me, much as I still was trying to learn how to speak.

Maleen:

I took her hand and touched it to my dress. “See? Dry?” I touched her hand to her own clothing then in comparison.

I blinked then looked at her clothes and mine. Why were mine wet and hers dry. I looked at her, the question in my eyes.

Maleen:

I touched her hair and slicked my hand hover it until I had a little pool of water in my hand. I held it out to her palm up so she could see the water slowly dry up.

I gasped in amazement, pulling my hair so I could look at it. I knew now what she wanted to do and I nodded rapidly, delight written across my face.

Maleen:

I smiled happily at the look on her face and dried her clothes and hair quickly with my magic.

I pulled at the tunic, inspecting it all over for any spots of water. It was perfectly dry. I looked up and grinned happily. I couldn't believe that someone could do it!

Maleen:

I laughed softly at her reaction and reached for her hand. I tugged her over to the fire. “Sit,” I told her. “Watch.” I focused on the fire and colored flames sparked out, in greens and blues.

I gasped and giggled giving a delighted clap as I watched the fire.

Maleen:

I grinned at her. It was nice having someone my own age, or at least seeming like my own age. I had only ever been a servant in a house of people twice my age.

Rina:

I finished setting up the tent and glanced over to the fire the witch had started. I watched the two girls sitting together. They seemed awfully human.

Talon:

I glanced over at the girl, and tilted my head as a word escaped her lips. It was no language I had ever heard before, it was one of music, power, and purity. Though from what I knew of the world. There could be any one of a hundred dead languages like that.

Rina:

I went over and sat somewhat close to the fire but on the opposite side of the girls. Maleen looked mesmerized by the girl. Sure she was different, but not that interesting.

When Rina sat down, I turned to her and beamed, hoping to see that she was having fun too. My attention was brought back to the fire as another burst of color brought out a small gasp from my lips.

Rina:

Aero fluttered above the fire watching it excitedly, while Iris huddled on my shoulder resentfully. I held my hand out to her and she hopped in, nestling in my palm.

Wren:

I turned to look at the bird this time and tilted my head, offering my hand out and gesturing to the bird. It fluttered close and spun around my hand before doing a quick spiral around my head then went back to the fire. I giggled watching it and the fire together.

Rina:

It was strange, this little group, not one of us had anything in common. Yet I felt somehow closer to them than I had felt with anyone for a long time. I didn’t usually stay around people for very long, I was a loner. I was better off on my own, but this was kind of nice, a breath of fresh air. Even though I knew it wouldn’t last long. I took out my bag and got a pouch filled with dried food from it. I took a piece then handed the bag around.

Talon:

I staid standing, my back to the fire as I let my eyes roam absently over our surroundings. Another job, another group. It was all the same to me.

Rina:

After the fire died down and the sky grew dark I told the two girls to go into the tent.

Maleen:

I took Wren to the tent and helped her in. It wasn’t very big, meant for one person, but then again, Wren and I weren’t very big.

Wren:

I laid down, laying on my back as I looked at Maleen, I looked around realizing we would have to be laying together and so moved onto my side and scootched over as far as I could.

Maleen:

I laid down facing her. “You should learn to speak you know.” I said softly and then proceeded to try to teach her.

Based on the confines of the tent I had to be more or less pressed against her, or the tent walls. Either way there was only a few inches between me and what ever I wasn't touching. I did try and focus on what she was saying, guessing that she was trying to teach me something. So I made attempts to repeat what she was saying, though I wasn't sure what the meaning behind them was.

Maleen:

I tried to focus on things that I could show her the meaning of. It was difficult considering where we were.

Rina:

The rain had slowed to a drizzle. Even though it was dark, soldiers might still venture out in this weather. I stamped out the fire just in case. I could still see in the dark, but only barely.
