Maleen:

“I… What do you want me to do?” I asked, clasping my my hands in front of me.

"Anything you know how to do offensively. Or anything you feel the best about. I want a basis for what you know." I said and gestured again. Wren was bouncing from foot to foot next to Maleen.

Maleen:

I looked at Wren nervously. I couldn’t think of anything defensive. “I don’t know…” I mumbled, looking at my feet.

"Take your time. When you think of something to try, just do it. I will help as I can, but I need to know what you can do." I said patiently, before turning to Wren. "Maybe you could get the water for Maleen." She nodded rapidly and turned to Maleen, "Please let me help you."

Maleen:

“I don’t really know any defensive magic…” I admitted. “I’ve never been able to perform them. I’ve done some healing though.”

"Show me what ever you want." I repeated, as Wren went dashing off. I waited patiently, my hands clasped together before me.

Maleen:

“But I have nothing to heal.” I said quietly.

Calan:

I drew a knife and held out a finger, making a long shallow cut on it. "How is this?"

Maleen:

My eyes widened in horror. “I didn’t mean for you to make one!” I exclaimed stepping forward and taking his hand in mine. It was a simple cut so it didn’t require much magic. The energy went through me and knitted the skin back together leaving a pink line under the fresh blood.

I watched her work. "You seem to have no trouble healing. So what is it you want to learn?" I asked her softly as I spotted Wren coming back towards us.

Maleen:

“How to do anything else… Spells mostly… How to manipulate magic into doing what I need it to…” I said softly.

Calan:

"Why? For what reason do you want to learn?" I asked with a gentle smile.

Maleen:

“I’m a witch… I should know how to do magic. I know I’m young, but I should be able to do more than I can now.” I said.

I nodded, "I can teach you. But I must ask, what is it you want to learn? There are many spells, many types, many goals."

Maleen:

“I want to learn how to protect myself and those I care about. I want to be of some use. Rina stole me so I could help her side… I’m of no help like this.” I told him quietly.

I nodded, "So what is the issue with your powers do you think? Is it learning, can you not focus your skills. What is it?"

Maleen:

I frowned a little. “I just… I don’t understand the books, the instructions, it doesn’t make sense. They say to let the power flow through my body… Take it from my surroundings, but… I don’t know how. And when I do manage to harvest the energy, I don’t know how to work it to make it do what I want.” I explained quietly.

Calan:

I considered her words then nodded. "You need a focus it sounds like. Well, that is easy enough. All the book knowledge in the world all the instructions. None of it is worth a damn if you don't have a way to focus." I considered her then tapping a finger to my lips. "When you do use magic, where do you let it come out at?"

Maleen:

I tilted my head in confusion. “My mind?” I asked.

I shook my head. "Where does it leave your body? Are you like Talon who leaks magic from every pore. Are you like most who use magic and have it come out from the hands?"

Maleen:

“It kind of comes to where ever I need it… Sometimes my hands… It is easier to do something if I’m touching it.”

"Then we shall start there. Do you have a dominant hand?" I asked holding out my hands.

Maleen:

I blinked and stared at him for a moment. “Oh! You mean like, one I use all the time? No, I use then both. I’m not a human.” I smiled bashfully.

I chuckled softly, "Neither am I. Well then I will give you two focuses then." I wiggled my hands to say I wanted hers.

Maleen:

I held out my hands hesitantly. “What are you going to do?” I asked.
