Rina:

I turned to Calan. “Where did she even get this?” I asked, gesturing to the sword.

"My questions is where did the armor go." I gestured down to the clothes she was wearing, they were what we had given her before.

Talon:

I blew off some steam in the woods before heading back to camp. I approached the man who had attacked Maleen and I said softly my gaze on the camp. "I saved your life twice now."

Rina:

“Oh.” I said quietly with a little frown. “That too. I wonder why the sword stayed..”

Dorian:

“How’s that?” I asked boredly, looking up at the guy who spoke.

"You pissed off that girl over there. Now. Why are you hunting decedents?" I asked my eyes still on the camp.

Dorian:

I sighed. “It’s what I do. It’s what I’ve dedicated my life to doing.” I said with a shrug. “Someone has to do it.”

"Your dedication is flawed. Are you going to hunt all magic then?" I asked him, my eyes finally lowering to meet his.

Dorian:

“No. Only witches and magicians with powerful magic. I don’t just randomly kill. I study my subject. I don’t like this you know. But it is a means to an end. It brings me no pleasure. Which is more than some in my profession can say.” I explained.

"A means to what end?" I responded with a raised eyebrow. "Are you condemning the innocent with the sins of the parents?"

Dorian:

I frowned. “I am not the one who condemned them. They are already condemned, whether I like it or not. If they are alive, then there will be evil in this world. It is not something that can be escaped. And if it is not done now, then it will never be finished. There are already bloodlines that are lost. It takes a lot of searching and studying to find these people.” I told him defensively.

"Ah, so I should kill you then? I should hunt your family back all the way to your first ancestor. All because of evil that might happen." I drew my sword and pressed it to his throat.

Dorian:

I looked him in the eyes calmly. “It would do no good to kill me. You must know I hunt only the descendants of the sorceress who cursed them.” I closed my eyes then. “But if you must kill me, then do it. I have the blood of many on my hands, I won’t deny that.

"It would do every good to kill you here. Our journey is to the Mist Mountains. Few make it through alive, fewer still find a safe home among my people. She will be safe there." I replied softly. "Open your eyes and tell me your name."

Dorian:

“My name is Dorian.” I said simply. I had faced death many times. I wasn’t afraid of it. It would bring me peace. I looked him right in the eyes.

"She is no threat to you Dorian.  Find another target.  If it comes about that your dread comes because of Maleen specifically.  I will give my life to the fight." I told him quietly. "From one soldier to another."

Dorian:

“I have nothing against the witch. I wish she wasn’t who she is. But I can’t change that. She is a witch. And I won’t let her go to disappear.” I said determinedly. “I won’t, however, kill her while she has so many friends.”

"An agreement then, you protect Maleen. Do all in your power and skill to keep her safe while she is among people who view her as a friend. Do this and the library of my people is yours. Our genealogy records, our histories, the writings of our seers." I offered my gaze locked on his. It was something no outside human had ever had a chance to see. Our records were untouched and well preserved.

Dorian:

I had to take a moment to think it through. It was an offer too tempting to pass up. “I protect the witch- only while she has people who care for her, and I have full acsess to this information?” I repeated. “Do I have your word?” I asked.

"You have the word of the lord of my people. My records are yours to find another target." I swore to him.

Dorian:

“Then You have mine. I will protect the girl while I am with you, and until I find a new subject.” I swore.

Talon:

I offered my hand down to him to help him up. "Come on, time to introduce you to the girl your going to be protecting for a while." I still held the sword in my hand but it was no longer held threateningly.

Dorian:

“She probably wont want me around, considering I tried to kill her. Does your deal still stand then?” I asked as I got to my feet.

Talon:

"If she doesn't want you around then so be it. But my offer still stands." I replied with a shrug.

Dorian:

I nodded and fell into step with him.

Maleen:

My eyes widened when I was The man walking with Talon. What were they doing?

Talon:

"Maleen, I have to talk to you. It's important." I called to her holding a hand out.

Maleen:

I made my way over to him. “Yes?” I asked softly standing so Talon was partially between me and the other guy.
