"This is Director Veronica, she's in charge of all of this." I gestured around, "She brought it to my attention it's been almost a full day and you haven't eaten. Now either you can willingly come with me to eat or I can grab a funnel and a blender."

Demi:

I blinked and my eyes widened at the two of them. I brought my knees up and hugged them. I had shed the under shirt, and it was probably quite clear that I wasn’t wearing a bra if I left my chest uncovered. I scowled at them.

“Jesus Tobi,” The woman muttered. My hearing was better than normal human’s. She stepped into the room in front of the doctor whose name I now knew was Tobi. “You may have to stay here, but I want to make sure that you are comfortable. You need to eat, this meal skipping won’t be happening again. Do you need anything else?” She had a kind face, but I glared at her all the same.

"Back to the silent treatment. Boy do I know how that one goes. Well since you both are making such good friends and share so much in common when it comes to talking with me. Can I go back to my lab now?" I glanced from one to the other with raised eyebrows and folded arms.

Demi:

Veronica sighed and looked at him. “Yes, run along. I need to speak with her alone anyway.” The doctor left the two of us in the room together. “Now listen. I know this has got to be horrible for you, but it is necessary for us. But regardless, I want to make you as comfortable as possible,” She said and pulled something out of her pocket. She set a little black box on my dresser. “This is a pager that will go directly to me and no one else. If your needs aren’t being met here, I want you to notify me. Do you understand?”

My eyes stared to tear up a little at the kindness. I looked down at my knees and nodded. “Now, is there anything that I can get for you besides food right now?”

It was embarrassing, but I confided that I needed bras. Not the normal kind, but ones that went around the neck instead of two straps.

Muttering to myself I wandered my way back to the lab but paused with a frown as I saw Simon sitting in my stool, slowly spinning in a circle. Once he noticed me he brightened up and walked over. "Doctor Marin, I was hoping you could do inverentory for me regarding the lab? You don't like it when I go poking through so it would be easier for you to do it and let me know what you need ordered."

"A muzzle."

"Sir?"

"A muzzle Steve. Oh and make sure I have a blender and a funnel too. When they come in put them....over there on that counter." I gestured at the glass wall.

"Are we getting them for the subject?"

"Nope. Funnel and Blender are to make a point. I want to send the muzzle in a package myself."

"Right sir...then anything else."

I rattled off a list of supplies quickly to which Simon nodded and promised to fill out the forms for me before heading off. "Semoa isn't so bad sometimes."

Veronica:

I came out a few minutes later with a short list of things to get for the girl. I wondered how ethical it was for us to be keeping a girl of such a young age here against her will.

"It's time to get her lunch," I told Tobi and the doorway of his lab. It was unlikely that he had eaten lunch today too. He had the tendency to forget such things. But it wasn't my job to take care of that anymore.

By the time Veronica had come out I was once again neck deep in my research. "Hm? Oh." I paused for a moment to paw at my pants before pulling out my wallet and a pair of fifty dollar bills. I waved them her way, "Make Steve go get us something from that sandwich shop. Oh and a slice of cake from the sweets shop next door. I have plans for that cake, don't take it from me."

Veronica:

I crossed my arms and stared at him. He didn't even bother looking up. My stomach twisted. "I'm your boss, not your wife. Do your job, Tobi," I said coolly. Being in this place, particularly this lab was bringing up all the bitterness of the last year of our marriage. But I wasn't helpless anymore.

I paused at that and looked at her. "When in the hell have I made you do anything? And I am doing my job, apparently unlike you." My voice was icecold as I looked at her. Instead of offering her a chance I went close to where she was standing and grabbed the cord phone. Hitting a few buttons I waited a moment then spoke into it.

"Simon, I've got two fifties down here. Get yourself whatever you want but from that sandwich shop down by the square I want..." I rattled off three seperate sandwiches in quick succession including chips along with each before I also ordered the cake from the shop next door to it.

When I hung up I shook my head and returned to my seat. "There, done. Was there anything else before I get back to work?" I was ticked, and it showed. But I hadn't even noticed that for the meals I had ordered one of the sandwiches was made just the way she liked it.

Veronica:

"No. There's nothing else," I said shortly. I left without another word. My heart was hammering in my chest. on the way out I stopped to speak with Simon, telling him just to get the two sandwiches and that I would bring a few thing back for him to hand over to the girl. From now on I would try to interact only with him if possible.

I rolled my eyes at her antics and looked away. Veronica had always been confusing to me, she was like no one I ever knew and always had the perfect way to get under my skin. Lately it was that she was my boss and therefore refused to act like a rational person. Things were different I knew but still I couldn't help but think about her and the times we were living together.

Veronica:

I returned to the house, but only to deliver the back for Danny. I handed it off to Simon and politely refused the invitation for another cup of coffee. It was only two o' clock but I didn't return to the office. When I got home I tossed off my business clothes and stood in front of my floor length mirror wearing only underwear. I stood there until Tilly scuffled over to lick my bare leg. Then I curled up on the bed and cuddled with the dog that my ex-husband had brought home to me two years ago.

Simon:

I had the lunches ready, taking a moment to enjoy my own sandwich before I brought down the Doctors. He wouldn't mind, probably wouldn't even notice. But when Veronica came back and handed me a bag for Danny my eyebrows raised for a moment before I smiled and nodded. "I'll bring it with her lunch then."

I did take a curious peak at what was inside, rifling through the items with an amused smile before finishing up my lunch. I prepared three plates after that. Two of them with sandwich and chips, the third with the cake. Carrying the three plates balanced on my hands and arms was tricky but I managed well enough and the bag was it's own addition difficulty. But after leaving the cake and the doctors sandwich for him I went to the girls room.

I knocked first before sliding my card through the reader and placing my hand on the scanner. After the door unlocked I went inside and took a look around. "Wow, they made this really nice didn't they." I remarked to myself before I focused on the girl laying in the bed. "And you must be Danny, I brought lunch and Veronica did some shopping for you." I brandished the paper plate and the paper bag as I spoke of both. "Where would you like them?" A smile curled my lips and a spark danced in my eyes. It was rather exciting to be speaking to the one all this fuss was about.

Demi:

I sat up when I heard the door open. The guy coming in surprised me. Just how many people were there in this place? I scooted so that my back was against the wall while I sat on my bed. “Anywhere,” I answered, hugging my knees to my chest and resting my chin on them. “Thank you,” I whispered.

Simon:

Nodding I set both things down on the table and dusted my hands off. Turning to look at her my smile fell away and pity replaced it. "Oh you poor thing...I'm sorry. From the sounds of things I'm going to be in charge of your meals. Is there anything you don't like or really love? I can work really hard to get you that sort of thing if you'd like."

Demi:

My eyes widened in surprise. "I don't know," I murmured after a moment. I ate what my mom gave me. There wasn't anything I particularly disliked. "What's your name?" I asked. He was kind to me, and the woman had been too. It was the opposite of what my expectations had been. Beyond being a prisoner, I was treated well.

"Simon, it's a pleasure to meet you. Really if you need me to get you anything just let me know. Any particular food, furniture, so on. I work as a secretary for Doctor Tobias but I was hired by Director Veronica." Shrugging slightly I slid my hands into my pockets, rocking on my heels with an air of complete ease.

Demi:

I thanked him again and after he left I went to collect my things. I tried not to eat the food too quickly, but it still settled into my empty stomach unpleasantly. I showered and changed into new clothing, wearing one of the bras that the woman had brought. After that I sat on my bed in utter boredom. It was almost a relief when the doctor came to collect me, though I was rather nervous about what he would have me do.

I collected Danny from the room as a test came to mind and I had the equipment set up for it. "Alright. Stand there, don't move. Going to do a full body scan, should take about three minutes then I want you to try and use your powers while I scan you again. Your powers wont work, there will likely be a bit of discomfort. Try anyway." I was brisk about my words, and gave a wave towards the spot I wanted her to stand before the machine.

Dami:

I squinted at him with arms crossed. "Why?" I asked. "You're telling me to do something that causes me pain? What do I get out of it?" I demanded unbudgingly. I didn't think he would hurt me. I was confident enough that even if he did force me, that it wouldn't put me in danger. But I had to test the limits. I had to see what he was willing to give.

"What do you get out of it?" I actually frowned at that. Turning to look at her I studied her for a moment as if she'd just asked an incredibly dumb question. "You get to learn something. And discomfort is not pain. It can be pain. But is not the same thing." Sighing I rubbed my temples. "I'm trying to figure out how you work so eventually I can send you home. The longer you force me to explain every little decision I make the longer you are going to be forced to stay."

Demi:

I scowled at him but the prospect of leaving made my heart beat pick up. "I'm not going to do anything unless I know what it is. So sorry to say it, but you're going to have to explain if you want me to cooperate." I kept my arms crossed tightly, holding my ground.

"Explain it fine. I'm going to use this ultra sound imaging machine to watch your cells for any changes when you use your power and when you don't. Specifically I am going to be looking at your brain and organs. But since you want me to explain-" I rattled off scientific names and terms of exactly what I was doing and why. I held nothing back, letting my voice drip with sarcasm along the longest of wards. "Happy?"

Demi:

My ears laid back as I stared at him with a flat expression. “Happy? No, not as long as I’m held as a prisoner here. Confined to a single room and a lab, with a whack job scientist telling me what to do and to inflict pain on myself with gain for myself. Why the hell would I be happy with this?” I knew he hadn’t meant his question literally, but I was trying to press buttons to see how far he would go. What could I expect from him in the future?

I stared at her for a moment then sighed.  "This is why I hate dealing with people.  You ask for a simple thing, you get idiotic responses."  Pinching the bridge of my nose I closed my eyes.  Muttering a few choice curses under my breath. "Fine. Then you can stay here for the rest of your life. It's no cause of concern for me." Standing I moved away from the machine, going over to a different set of lab equipment and beginning to work on it.
