Body Guard

Julie:
I looked at him in surprise. "Thats a lot of reading," I said, walking into the bookstore. There was a certain smell that accompanied books that was very comforting. "Whats your favorite?" I asked.

"Hm. Ender's Game." I listed off after a few moments thought. "And it's not that much reading. I'm up later than you but also get up before you. To function I can't read too long before bed. Waiting for you to wake up is a crap shoot. And it's not often that you are in a meeting where I don't need to keep an eye out."

Julie:
I smiled. "I got up early today," I told him, proudly. And waking up at the crack of dawn would most likely hit me a little later and I would pass out on him. "I should get a book to, for when you're at the gym and I need to entertain myself," I said.

Laughing I nodded, "That you did. It was impressive for you. Hopefully you don't crash too hard later." I waved towards the various shelves. "Off with you. Find whatever world you want to inhabit between the pages."

Julie:
I smiled and raised an eyebrow at his shooing. "Okay, okay, I'll meet you at the registers," I said, parting off down a row of shelves. I knew I liked to read but there was hardly any time for it. Some days I was doing absolutely nothing and I had all day to read and the next I had back to back meetings and appearances. I could never actually finish a book.

I watched her walk away then wandered the shelves. I was drawn inevitably to the sci-fi area and I crouched down to start browsing the shelves that had the futuristic military books that I enjoyed the most. Jules had called me out on it, I was an addict for these kinds of books and I almost exclusively read these kinds of things.

Julie:
I strolled around the bookstore and picked out a few that looked interesting. I hid one or two romance novels under my stack, hoping that Cody wouldn't see and tease me about it. When my arms were mostly full, I made my way to a register.

I grabbed a few books, three just the continuing of the series I was currently involved in and two more that were brand new ones. With my purchases in hand I went in search of Jules, spotting her beside the counter. "That's quite the stack. Will you have time to read all those?"

Julie:
"Sure, it might take me a year, but I'll read them," I said, putting the books in the bag the cashier gave me. "Did you find some good stuff?" I asked, looking at what he bought.

Knowing I was likely setting myself up just to have her poke fun at my choices I showed her the various books I'd grabbed, going a tiny bit into detail about each one. We both liked different types of books, but that we were both readers made me feel a bit better about it all.

Julie:
I smiled and leaned closer to look at one of the books he was showing me. It was clear he was exciting about reading it and it was...cute. Normally that wouldn't be a word I would use to describe him, but it felt right. "I'll sleep in tomorrow so you can have more time to read," I said, winking at him.

I looked at her in surprise, "You don't have to make that kind of allowance just for me...look how about this. You can sleep as long as you'd like, and you could also stick around for breakfast. We both can enjoy a meal and a book."

Julie:
I smiled and nodded. "Okay, that sounds good to me," I said. Something told me I might have another early morning tomorrow at the thiught of spending it with him.

The line seemed to drag on and on, though in reality we were out of the store within ten minutes purchases tucked into our bags. Standing outside the bookstore I took a long look up and down the mall. I figured Jules would enevitably ask me what I wanted to do next and so I was trying to puzzle my way into picking something. "What do you say to lunch and then we can go back to you making me try on a bunch of different things?"

Julie:
I laughed and shook my head at him. "Dont say that like you dont enjoy it," I said, looping my arm through his as we walked out of the store. "Lunch sounds perfect now thought because I'm getting a little hungry," I told him. "What are you in the mood for?"

"Either sandwiches from that deli at the other end of the mall. Or they have that sushi place just over there." I pointed first one way than the other with my free hand. "Both sound amazing." I looked to our linked arms with a smile then followed her arm up to her eyes.

Julie:
"Hmm, Sushi is closer and I'm getting a little hungry," I told him. I pulled him with my arm in the direction of the sushi place. Our linked arms slipped a little and I grabbed his hand. "Do you wanna get two different things and split it?" I asked.

"That sounds for the best." I let her lead though a faint smile touched my lips as my hand was now in hers. I was partial to the spicy tuna roll, and we'd never gone for sushi together, so what she was going to get would be it's own surprise.

Julie:
I smiled and stopped when we got to the line for sushi. I became aware of our hands when we stopped because I wasnt pulling him anymore. Now we were just standing...holding hands. "Are you okay with salmon?" I asked, looking at the menu.

"I like salmon." I searched the board, as the line slowly made its way to the front. It was a busy place today and by the time we were able to get a table I was starving. It was a table for two, Ryan choosing to get another meal and asking if I would be alright watching out for her. I agreed and was now left alone with just Jules. "So I know I'm getting at least a spicy tuna roll. Want to get some teriyaki chicken over rice as well just to help fill us up?"

Julie:
I nodded and settled into my seat. "Yeah that sounds good," I said. I looked over the table and grabbed a pair of chopsticks and smiled. "You cant judge me because I have no idea how to use these," I told him.

"Really? I'm not the best myself. Here I was hoping you could show me." Quirking my lips into a faint grin I picked up the chopsticks and did a bit of practice grabs.

Julie:
When someone came over to take our order, I asked if she could bring over some forks. I turned to him with a smile when she walked away. "We're both gonna starve if we try to use those, "I said, looking at him trying to use the chopsticks.

Chuckling I set aside my chopsticks and nodded. "Fair enough." I took a long gaze around but my vision eventually rested on her once again. I realized then just what we looked like, a couple on a date. The very idea made my mouth go dry and the words died in my throat.

Julie:
I watched his face change and looked at him curiously. "Are you okay?" I asked, nudging his foot with mine. I looked around to see what he might have seen. Was there some kind of danger?
