Beyond the Castle, part one. (Two person.)

Araline:

I nodded. “I left my extra clothes hanging by the water. I’ll be right back.” I said heading toward the lake.

Ario:

I watched her leave, before resuming to pack up camp. I made sure to keep an eye on the guy as I worked. Even though it was just keeping him in the corner of my eye.

Brian watched him while leaning against the tree, not bothering to help him.

Ario:

"What do you want with us?" I asked as I worked. I banked the fire, making sure it was completely out before I stepped away from it to work on a different task.

“Nothing really. You are free to leave me here. I won’t follow.” He said simply crossing his arms casually.

Ario:

I nodded then once I was finished packing I sighed softly and I said my voice quiet. "I don't want to tell Araline, but we need help. I have no idea what I'm doing out here, and I don't know how long we will continue to survive like this." I let out a slow breath. "I'm not good at asking for things, but I know you know how to survive out here. Teach us. Please."

Brian smiled. “Absolutely, kid. But you two are fairing much better than the first batch did, and there were a few more of them.”

Ario:

I smiled a bit and nodded. I was surprised at that. I thought we were just barely managing. I knew if it wasn't for me living on my own and knowing how to do a lot of this, that this would be a lot harder.

Araline:

I returned a while later. "I found a nice place to camp. It is close to the water but completely dry." I said coming up to stand close to Ario.

Ario:

I smiled at Araline and picked up my pack, and then hers. "Lead on then." I said looking at her.

Araline:

I smiled back at him. I lead them both to place I had found. I glanced curiously back at Brian every now and then, he was staying several paces behind Ario and me. “What do you think?” I asked looking up at Ario one we were in the little circle of trees close to the lake.

Ario:

"Its perfect." I said smiling at Araline. I set down our packs before stretching absently.

Araline:

I watched him for a moment before looking at the ground and shuffling leaves and sticks away like I always did.

Ario:

I started working on building a fire. Glancing only once at Brian, before returning to my task.

Araline:

"What were you planning on having tonight?" Brian asked watching us while leaning against a tree close by.

Alex:

I glanced at Brian and then thought over what we had eaten the past few nights. It had been a while since I had made stew. "I think stew."

Araline:

I looked up at him to judge what he was thinking. I couldn’t tell much, he was just as good an actor as Ario or I was.

Ario:

I started preparing the water and heating it on the stove. Adding in what we would need to flavor it and actually make it a stew.

Araline:

“Do you need help?” I asked him smiling lightly. Usually I wasn’t much help and just let him do it since he was better at nearly every thing, but right now I felt odd being watched by some one and not doing a thing.

Ario:

I nodded smiling a bit up at her. I directed her softly to cut up the meat and drop it into the pot.

Araline:

I did as he told me and cut it up slowly dropping it into the water on by one.

Ario:

I finished with what I was working on and dusted off my hands before standing up. I stretched with a yawn watching Araline cut up the meat.

Araline:

I looked up at him in the fading light and smiled. I had the strong desire to reach out and touch him, take hold of his hand or run mine through his hair. I looked quickly back to what a was doing and finished shortly.

Ario:

I wondered what was going on in her head, but for the most part ignored it. I didn't want to pry into her thoughts, as I knew I didn't want anyone to pry into mine sometimes.

Araline:

A little while later Brian came to sit next to me leaning against the tree. “Nice bow.” I said while studying it. In the palace we had archery lessons, it was a sport but the bows we had were much different from his. “Can I see it?” He nodded without consideration and handed it over. It was longer and shaped slightly different. “Do you know how to shoot?” He asked and I shrugged.
