i sat down in the living room making the lights flicker

Mallory:
"Its not good to do that. You can start a fire," I muttered as I walked into the room.

i turn them on "ok"

Mallory:
"Maya did that when we were younger. Set me on fire," i said, no trace of my usual sarcasm or arrogance. It just sounded like a fact.

Mallory:
"I healed fine. Maya didn't stop laughing for a week," i said and looked at her. She laughed.

i nod a little

Mallory:
I sat on the floor, my legs pulls up to my chest.

"mom... you ok?"

Mallory:
"I'm fine," i whispered. It felt like the biggest lie I've told, but i said it anyway.

i rub her back softly "im sorry mom"

Mallory:
"Its fine," I whispered.

"Jake actually has a suprise for you...."

Mallory:
"Oh, great. Another surprise? What this time? Maya is the bomb?" i muttered cynically.
