Boarding School for the Mythical

My uncertain smile became more amused as my eyes focused on the pavement. "The first time yes, I had no idea we were coming here, and seeing you had been a....pleasent surprise." My smile grew sheepis before I continued. "Varrus didnt approve of me coming looking for you...and I'm sure he followed me. But no it wasnt an accident...As I said...I came looking." A little bit of color, entered my cheeks as i looked up into her eyes my smile ending at a shy nervous one.

Tabitha:

I smiled genuinely at him, pleased by his explanation. “How was Alaska?” I finally asked after beaming at him for a few moments. I was happy to be in his presence now. The anxious thoughts were eased by the knowledge that he wanted to be around me, it wasn’t an accident. It made me a little giddy. I had missed my friend so much, and now he was back. I laced my hands together behind my back.

Sphinx:

I shook my head slowly. "Cold and miserable. We stayed in a place that leaked if the fire was going, and it was too cold if you didn't have a fire going." I said with a sigh. It sucked, but we had done it, mostly because we had too. IT was the reason we had left and were now here again. We wanted to be someplace better, and this place was perfect. Atleast...for me it was.

Tabitha:

I couldn’t help but grin at him. “Well I’m glad you’re back and that we… ran into each other.” I said softly. “I didn’t know if I would see you again.” I admitted.

Sphinx:

I shrugged absently. "I'm not that impressive, I'm sure you would have forgotten me eventually Tabitha." I said softly. A grin came to my face as I remembered something. "But I feel bad for your date, its not nice to stand someone up like that." I chastised gently.

Tabitha:

I gasped. “Oh no… James..” I said ruefully, looking back in the direction toward the restaurant. “I should go back… He’s probably left by now.. I don’t have my phone with me..” I said in distress. He was probably awfully hurt, or mad… Shade stared out over the street disdainfully.

Sphinx:

I pulled my phone out of my pocket and held it out to her. "Call him." I said softly, my face neutral. I didn't know what to feel, her reaction kind of confirmed what I had thought. Part of me was happy for her that she had found someone else to make her happy. The other part felt jealous of him. I wanted to push the feelings out but they wouldn't go away. So I did my best to ignore them.

Tabitha:

I started to take the phone but let y hand fall back to my side. “I don’t know his number.” I admitted. I felt obligated to contact him, he was a friend after all even if I wasn’t romantically attracted to him. I chewed on my lip anxiously. “I should go back to my car to get my phone. And it is late after all..” I glanced at my little black wrist watch. It was ten-thirty already.

Sphinx:

"Let me walk you to your car then, it wouldn't do to let you be kidnapped so soon after getting to see you again." I offered gesturing for her to lead on. I had only actually gotten a phone at Velarrics insitence, so I had no idea what my own number was. He knew of course, since he had gotten it for me but still.

Tabitha:

I smiled sweetly. “Thank you.” I said softly before leading the way with him at my side. I glanced over my shoulder after a moment to shade still sitting watching the road. “Shade! Come on. Home!” I called to him. He started trotting behind us. On Sphinx’s side, I noted.

Sphinx:

I didn't really know what to say, so I just focused on looking at the surroundings, though I really wanted to look at her. It was the first time I had seen her in a dress, and it looked amazing on her. I could hear Shade behind us, but I didn't turn to look, as I half expected him to trip me if I did.

Tabitha:

I fidgeted with my hands as we walked. My eyes kept flickering to him then away then back to him. “I’ve got a performance tomorrow night… If you were interested.. I’d like to see you again. It’s been so long…” I stumbled over my words, but I managed to get them out there.

Sphinx:

I blinked in surprise before smiling. "I would be honored to see you perform. Just tell me when and where." I replied flashing her a grin. I had always wanted to dance, but with all of my dexterity and grace, I could do little more than waltz or slow dance.

Tabitha:

“Really? You want to?” I asked, my eyes lighting up happily that I would get to see him again. “It is at the town center theater, tomorrow at seven.” I told him. “I’ll give you a flyer back at my car.” I smiled brightly at him.

I chuckled and nodded, rubbing the back of my neck. I wanted to see her dance, but that wasnt what was troubling me. Should I get her a gift, that was the usual thing right? To give a gift after a performance. In my head I ran over gifts I could give her, still struggling over what it was that felt right.

Tabitha:

Once we reached my car I stumbled toward it a little embarrassed at how messy it was. I knew when I opened the door that the light would come on and show the disaster inside. I blushed a little when it did just that. The back seat was covered with clothes and shoes and dance things. I shuffled the things around until I found the stack of flyers. I handed him the least crumpled one. Shade hopped up into the passenger’s seat and curled up, waiting for me to get in.

I smiled taking the flyer, keeping my eyes adverted from the backseat as she was obviously embarrassed by it. "Alright, I will be there Tabitha." I said softly before smiling up at her shyly. I didn't know what I was supposed to do really. I wasn't sure if I should hug her, just walk off, shake her hand. Or even...kiss her... I could feel my heart speed up a bit at that one, but I didn't move, though my lips did part slightly.

Tabitha:

I smiled back at him softly. It was time to say goodbye, but I didn’t want to go… What if he disappeared again? What if his vampire friend dragged him off? Convinced him not to see me again? I took in a calming breath and stepped forward to hug him. “It was nice seeing you again.” I said as my arms wound around him lightly. I would just have to trust him come, there was nothing else that could be done.

Sphinx:

I felt my pulse race at her touch before I wrapped my arms around her, holding her close. I forced myself to keep the hug light and free, even though my body practically screamed at me to hug her tighter. To hold her closer. It was difficult to fight the impulse but I managed to do it, though my arms did tighten an almost imperceptible amount.

Tabitha:

I had to pull myself away reluctantly to prevent the hug lasting noticeably long. I wanted to stay in his arms forever, but that wasn’t possible. I smiled at him sweetly as I backed up to the open door of my car. “So, see you tomorrow then?” I asked.

Sphinx:

I didn't want to stop hugging her, and I was sure it showed, as I looked at her longingly. I let out a soft breath before giving her a smile. "I'll be there, I promise."
I vowed to her, giving her a playful bow.

Tabitha:

“Alright. See ya.” I said as I slid into the drivers seat. I closed the door and started the car reluctantly. My eyes kept flickering to the mirror where I could see him as I drove away.

I stood there till she was out of sight before grinning wide. I couldn't help it, it had been an amazing experience!
