Perfect School

Jonah:

"Do you actually want anyone to like you?" I asked, honestly wanting to know. SHe acted like she didn't care at all, like she was above everything. But she was also a person, a girl, and a young one at that. She had to have her weaknesses.

I looked at him for a long moment before answering. "Emotions and feelings are ties that limit you. You lose your edge. Getting close to anyone encourages feelings. If not from me from them. They will expect me to help. They will get in my way." I turned my head to the other students. "Do you have friends among them? Someone you wish to protect? When it comes down to it...will you kill them?" I recognized I hadn't answered his question but I kept my eyes on the other students. "I don't care if any of you like me. If you wish to spend time with me so be it. But any who get in my way will be dealt with just as any target of mine will be."

Jonah:

"Most of the people here like me, look up to me, enjoy being around me. I encourage that, and I in return like some of them, Kyra O'Shay being one of them. I want to have people I can trust, people who are loyal to me. For that I need friends. And if it came down to it, if I had to put one of them down, I would, but only if it was necessary. I want to work with people and trust them to do what they need to, if they like me they will be all the more willing." I explained. It wasn't a secret. If she payed attention she would see me making connections, building relationships. I didn't want to be worshiped, but I wanted people to be loyal to me when the time came.

"And how will it look when you have to kill those loyal to you? What will you do when ultimately you fail because people will look up to you and expect you to do things you can't?" I shook my head. "Two different styles. We will have to see who in the end gets it better."

Jonah:

"We'll see."  I said and smiled at her.  "Can't get through this kind of life without support though.  Especially when you're at the top.  I suppose you could do that with money, or threats, but then you're more likely to be betrayed aren't you?"

"Fear is a powerful motivator as well. But I don't care about the money. I won't make threats to people. I will be given a job and I will do it. I will be a weapon and that is all." I shrugged and looked up at the sky. "People are to afraid to dirty their hands, so they will use me."

 

"Something like that. This school will feed you lines too. It's up to you on what lines to follow and what to ignore." I replied and closed my eyes.

Jonah:

I smiled.  "I like to make up my own lines.  I'm here to learn, not to be used.  I have a dept to pay, but after that, I won't be used."  I said with a little shrug.  
The class was dismissed.  "See you at dinner Kira."  I told her and made my way back to the hall way.

I opened my eyes to watch him go. "Interesting..." I murmured before shrugging it off and rolling to my feet.

~Time Skip tot he next day, beginning of Tactical Operations Class~

Andrew:
 
I made it to class ten minutes before it started and paused at the door.  I figured she would be in the same class as me this time, but I didn’t think she would be in my spot.  I hesitated at the door, should I pick a different spot this time and leave her alone?  Or I could just sit next to her…  But she was sitting in my seat.  My mind decided I walked up to her.
“Could you move over?”  I asked, unsmiling and toneless.  I pointed to the seat next to the one she was in, at the same table.  It was silly, I told myself, but it was the only chair I sat in during this class, everyone else in the room knew it, she had to learn too.

Kira:

I lifted my gaze from the white board up to this ones face. An eyebrow lifted the barest amount before I turned my face back towards the board. I got slowly to my feet, slid over one step and then sat back down in the empty seat he had indicated. This seat provided as much of a view of the room as the other one, and I didn't care if his request had been a form of mind game to find out more about me. Let them think what they would.

Andrew:

She was pretty, I could understand what everyone was saying about her. I sat down in my spot without a second glance at her. "Thank you." I muttered. All the students were tittering away about her, but the only thing special about were was that she was a good student. I saw no reason to pay extra attention to her, just like I saw no reason to pay extra attention to Jonah.

The silence was nice. The guy wasn't asking questions, he wasn't gawking and staring, and most importantly he wasn't filling the air with random chatter. I could come to enjoy this one's company, if it weren't for the fact that I wasn't here to make friends. "An assassin doesn't have friends, an assassin doesn't love. Both will drag you down." The words echoed in my head as I laced my fingers together and made a flat platform with them to rest my chin on.

 

I did my half of the work easily, my mind mostly elsewhere. I kept my eyes roaming the classroom and the students seeing the relative skill levels of the entire class.

 

"You don't talk. You don't ask questions. If I cared enough to pick a favorite at this school. You would be it Andrew." I remarked with a tiny shrug my eyes not even looking at him. They were looking out a window assessing what was going on outside in another class.

 

I only nodded, there was nothing else to say. I knew he was related to Kyra. The family resemblance was strong.

Kira:

I laid on my bed in my room on a break between classes. I was in shorts and a tight tank top with my feet bare and my hands in fingerless fighters gloves. Every muscle was hurting and I had one hand pressed over my heart. I was pushing too hard some days and my body hated me for it. Today was just a testing day, and I had been grabbed to test my endurance in an obstacle course.

At first everything had been effortless. But as timed passed my very presence had made many improve. I wasn't having to try hard yet but I was finally having to use some skill to keep up and perform better.

 
 
 
 

Paublo:

I hated testing days. Oh how I loathed them, they were always times where I was exhausted, cranky and mostly envious. During classes I could plod along and do my best to learn before the class was over. But I always did poorly on tests. The pressure got to me each time. The only reason I ever scored as high as I did was because the only test I was any good at was the Physical tests.

I didn't know where I had gotten my physical gifts, but I was tall and strong. And it showed. I was the tallest student now, and everyone had long since stopped trying to beat me when it came to lifting weights. I even managed to turn that raw strength into combat skills as no matter how skilled a person was...it didn't take more than one or two hits for them to be down. When I had first gotten here and had to test I had gotten lucky. Lucky in many ways. Everyone else believed that I had managed to beat Jonah the star of the school in a fight. But he and I knew the truth and I would never tell anyone. It was only bad luck. No matter how skilled a fighter sometimes the ground became your enemy as it did that day for Jonah. We were the last to spar and the mat had been slick with sweat. His foot had slid while he was moving out of the way of a punch. It was that easy. I had meant to get him right in the center mass. Maybe get at his ribs to disrupt his breathing. But when he slipped...my fist caught his temple. And not even Jonah could withstand the force of my blows. Since then he had been able to handily beat me in every spar. But that first fight made us friends and made everyone think I was better than I really was.
