Perfect School

I hit and kicked at the bag till the bell rang and I was still at it when Kyra came up to me. I gave a small spin, landing on one foot while the other whirled around, aided by the spin to do a viscous kick to the bag. While my first round house had sent the bag rocking, this kick actually removed the entire bag from the hood it hung from, and burst sand out along several of the seams. I watched the bag panting softly. My hand throbbed but I ignored it and instead walked over to the table I had taken the fighters gloves from. I removed the gloves and tossed them onto the table before moving towards the door. The roaring in my blood was gone, and so I was calm once more.

Kyra:

I followed just behind her. "What did you do to your hand?" I asked curiously, picking up the pace to be beside her.

".50 Caliber. Beat the instructor in long range target practice." I replied with more emotion than I had yet to do. But the emotion was weariness and general exhaustion. Though I had gotten my breathing under control my heart rate had yet to drop down.

Kyra:

"You can use gloves next time you know. I do." I told her with a friendly smile.

"I usually do. Didn't have any this time...and with a .50 cal. It will help, but not much, not for how I shoot." I shrugged and ran a hand over my face, the bandaged one.

Kyra:

I shrugged and pushed through the door when we got to our class. It was one of my favorites. Everyone was already here and we had less than a minute on the clock before class started.

"What class is this?" I asked, pulling myself together and letting emotions fade from my body and face the second I stepped into the class room.

Kyra:

“Tracking.” I answered. It wasn’t just traditional tracking on land. We did every kind of tracking; ground, paper, cyber, etc…

I nodded, rubbing my shoulder absently. "I see." It would be a good way to end the day.

Jonah:

The class went by easily. We were given several sets of footprints, all the same size, all the same print, only difference was the weight of the person wearing them and the length of their stride. Each of us were given a set to follow, sometimes they intersected and sometimes they faded altogether.

I finished quickly, wanting to take time to relax and get my head on straight. So once I had followed the tracks and gotten the sources, I sat and waited for the class to finish.

Jonah:

I usually took my time when I did these exercises because everyone else usually took much longer than I did. But when I saw Kira finish I wrapped it up and went to join her. “How is your first day going?” I asked casually.

"It is exactly what I expected it to be." I admitted with a roll of my shoulders. I wasn't impressed, this would simply maintain my skills. Not push me to be better.

Jonah:

I studied her for a moment before asking, "Why did you place second in all but one?" After one day of watching her it was pretty clear what she had done. But I didn't know why she had done it. If her goal was to avoid excessive attention then she had already failed, and I doubted she would ever do that willingly.

"The challenge. I came here to be challenged. If this is what the school has to offer I will be disappointed." I said, crossing one leg over the other. I sighed through my nose then nodded my head to the other students. "Do you think they are ready to go out into the world and fight for their lives?"

Jonah:

I glanced at the others then looked at her sideways. I wondered what her life had been like before now, what she had done. “Give them a couple years.” I said simply. “Not everyone is born to this.” I eyed her fragile frame.

"No. So why do all of them try?" I wondered, feeling his eyes on me but doing nothing about it. In fact, I adjusted with out thinking. My patron had given me a tutor who training me in all the rituals of dating. That included seduction. Sometimes my lessons popped up randomly, like now. My body shifted subtly into a more alluring position, though not a single emotion crossed my face. And I paused once I caught what I was doing, my breathing missing a single beat but otherwise I kept all outward signs of my knowledge to myself.

Jonah:

I looked her over and a smirk came to my lips. This was the first time I had been able to read her clearly. “Because we all need to learn something.” I said with a shrug. Kyra walked over to us, the next one to finish. “I feel like they need an advanced class for just the two of you.” She said. One thing I liked about this girl, you rarely heard malice or jealousy in her voice. “You’d be in it soon enough if there was.” I told her with a friendly smile. She grinned back.

I caught the smirk and resumed the position I had been in before and all the blankness that came with it. I rolled to my feet and crossed my arms watching the rest of the class struggle their way through. "You are alright." I remarked, "Both of you." Highest praise I could offer.

((Did she mean right, or alright? Because the meaning changes their reaction. =P just making sure.))

((That they are alright.))

Jonah:

I raised an eyebrow at Kira while Kyra frowned at her. “Jonah is the best in the school. He has been since he got here. I’d say he’s a bit more than alright.” She said in my defense. I thought it was sweet and interesting that she didn’t say she was more than alright.

I looked at her, "Don't make me take back what I said." I told her with out feeling. "I know where I stand, what I can do. Can you say the same?"

Kyra:

I looked her over. “I know what I can do, and what I need to learn to do.” I said with a little shrug. “See you at dinner.” I said to Jonah before going over to join the others who were finishing the exercise. I wanted to like her, but she could be a bit off putting, like she didn’t even want to interact with people.

I tilted my head and folded my arms. "I don't think she likes me." I remarked and then shook my head. "No matter. It's unimportant." I sat back down and closed my eyes.
