Perfect School

Jonah:

I laughed at that mental image. “No I don't think so Kira. But my question still is: Would this be the life you would choose?” I asked her.

"It is all I know Jonah." I knew it wasn't an answer but it was all I was able to offer. Never had I been able to think about such a thing. It simply wasn't possible for me to be anything but what I was.

Jonah:

I didn't like her answer, but I accepted it. “It is my choice.” I told her. “This is the life I want, and the path I have chosen.” I looked up to look at the light filtering through the trees. I took in a breath then let it out slowly.

I nodded slowly, my eyes on my laptop though I wasn't focused on it anymore. Was this really what I wanted to do? To be? Could I handle being anything else?

Jonah:

I glanced sideways at Kira, watching the thoughts flicker across her face. That was good. In order to break her, I needed her to question herself, and Marie. Especially Marie.

I shoved it all away, deciding it was best not to make a decision now but still the little doubts flickered in the back of my mind.

Jonah:

“I'll go get us dinner, since your brought back lunch.” I said, squeezing her legs once before getting up.

I returned my legs to their position and then with a sigh set aside my computer. I curled up on the swing and got me gently swinging while I closed my eyes.

Jonah:

Nobody tried to talk to me when I went to order food to take back to Kira, though I could feel more than one set of eyes on me. I ignored them, getting food for the two of us, somethingKira would actually like.

I dozed off, troubled dreams coming to me. They left me feeling lost, uncertain, and confused as I drifted in and out of sleep.

Jonah:

When I got back, I let her sleep rather than waking her up. I ate alone at the table inside, thinking about the next events we would face, and if any of them would put up much of a challenge for us.

I stretched absently, looking through the gate ahead of us and the large woods beyond. This was a stealth mission. One person on the team was told to hide, the other was to find find everyone else. Those not in hiding had a paintball gun to mark those they found. When the shot went off I sprinted into the woods, settling into a jog once I was inside. I let Jonah take the gun this round, my goal to hide for as long as possible. Even now though I heard the sound of feet behind me and I knew what had happened. Some of the other teams had banded together with the goal of taking out the higher teams. Either by forcing them out first, or injuring them out in the field.

Jonah:

I couldn't shake my followers. They seemed determined to find the people I was tracking before I did. I had found two people but then the third I tracked was shot by another. They were working together to thwart me. After that, I would shoot anyone I saw until they went away, hunter and hider alike.

I slowed my steps until I was caught up too and with a faint smirk I turned on my would-be-followers. I dropped one with a single punch to his sternum. A hunter found us then and I yanked another target in front of me, blocking the shots before I sprinted away.

Jonah:

If I had not been followed, I probably would have found every one in fifteen minutes, As it was, I was also masking my own tracks and defending myself when someone came after me. I had found five people by the time I ran out of ammunition from shooting my competitors.

I kept using my pursuers as shields from my attackers, at one point actively knocking someone unconscious to use them as a wall of meat while someone unloaded at me. The game became less about hiding then, and more about taking out my opponents by using them.

Jonah:

I continued to track other players even without paint-balls. My goal was to find Kira if I could before the match was over. If nothing else I could assist her in winning.

A figure stepped out from behind a tree and grabbed me. Their hand locked around my throat and pinned me to the tree by that one touch. "Dub." I hissed out as I gripped his wrist to hold myself up. The irishboy grinned. "You know me dove. How flatterin'. Shame this is all yer good for eh?"

Jonah:

I managed to pick up traks that looked similar to Kira's, same size and stride as hers. They were accompanied much of the time by others and the occasional paint splatter. Either she was already out, or like me, the others thought they t=could team up on her.

"Better than you still." I managed out as he glared at me. "Yeah? We'll see." His free fist slammed into my gut making me grunt. "See...weak Dub."

Jonah:

“Oui! What the hell?” called out when I saw them. I was already aggravated by the way the task had gone, and this pushed me over the edge. I threw my useless get at him, landing it right on the back of his head before I could reach him. It took a few steps to get to him, but when I did I grabbed hold of his shoulder and expertly twisted the mass of a man to the ground.

Dub released me, turning the twist to the ground into a roll. He was on his feet immediately arms raised in protection as he growled. "Shouldnt'a done that.". He snarled while I picked myself up off the ground slowly.

Jonah:

I stood my ground with a contemptuous look. “You should have left my partner alone. Are you truly so jealous of of her that you have to pick on her like some deluded school yard bully? You're disgusting.” I seared. “She's half your size, but has a hundred times the talent.”

"Bah. Yer feckin' new at this ain't you boyo. I know just who she is and what she can do. This world ain't kind we live in. You don't hold back.". Dub sneered.

Jonah:

“Was I mistaken in thinking this was a game? Or are we forsaking the rules and stepping into the real world? Because if we are, this situation can be solved in an instant.” I hissed. I wouldn't start it, but I knew I could finish it, especially with Kira at my side.
