Saved for Macha

Emily:
I smiled and watched him swing. "Well in that case, the only combat you have to worry about will be from me if you hurt her," I half-teased. I kicked at the dirt by my feet and looked around the empty park.

"Between you and my head I'm set then." I glanced at her as I slowed so I could give her a smile. "So you know what I've been up to for the past four years. What have you done?"

Emily:
I shrugged. "There isnt a whole lot to tell." I said, honestly. "I moved out of my parents house when I was 18 and I've lived by myself ever since. I babysit a bunch of the kids around the neighborhood but Lexi is my favorite," I smiled. "She spends the night a lot and I dont mind it. The house was my grandparents and its too big for one person. It gets lonely and she helps a lot." I said softly.

"She's always liked helping people. More of a people person than I ever was." I admitted softly as I stopped the swinging to just a gentle rocking.

Emily:
I smiled and nodded. "Yeah, shes a great kid," I said. I looked up at the sky and sighed. "I should be getting back home though..." I trailed off and stood from the swing. I wrapped my arms around myself. "She should be coming over early tomorrow," I said.

"Ah. I'll have to wait for Cole to finish sleeping off the booze before I can come over. Hopefully by noon at least. If I can, should I bring anything for lunch or something? I remember Lexi's favorite food, but I don't know yours." I hopped out of the swing to stand beside her.

Emily:
"I'm not a picky eater, if Lexi likes it, I'll like it." I told him. "But you dont have to bring anything. I'm sure she's gonna be so excited to just see you," I told him. "Anyway, I have to walk back to my car... So I'll see you tomorrow."

"Can I walk you back at least?" I asked with a gand gesturing for her to lead the way.

Emily:
"Oh...thanks!" I said with a smile as I started walking. The walk back was pretty quiet and when I got back to my car, I stopped and looked at him. "I'm glad you're back for her." I told him. "And I cant wait to see her face when she sees you," I smiled. "Have a great night,"

I nodded and gave her a smile, "Thank you for letting me do this. I'm excited to see her." I felt better knowing she was safely to her car, and with a wave I bid her goodnight before starting to make my way back towards the bar to collect my friend.

Emily:
I got in my car and started the drive home. I was tired and I couldn't wait to crawl into bed and get some sleep. I was nervous about tomorrow though and I hoped that she would be happy to see her brother.

At the bar I collected Cole from his friends and drove him home. I talked to his wife about the next day and she promised to take me if he wasn't awake in time. With that taken care of I went down into the basement and dropped down onto the spare bed tucked into the corner.

Emily
I woke up the next morning early so I would have time to shower and get dressed before Lexi got here. I put on a pair of jeans and a simply button down shirt and let my hair dry naturally around my face. Once my clothes were taken care of, I poured myself a bowl of cereal and waited for Lexi to get here.

Lexi:

I hummed as I skipped my way to Emily's place. I could have gotten a ride but I decided against it wanting to enjoy the nice weather. As I walked my cute little skirt swished and it was matched by a simple tanktop. On my back I had my school backpack from which I had dumped out all my school stuff and grabbed changes of clothes, my swimsuit, and other odds and ends.

Emily:
I went into one of the guest bedrooms and made up a bed for Lexi, putting on her sheets and grabbing a few pillows for her. Then I went down stairs and turned on the TV while I waited for her.

Lexi:

It was a far walk and I managed to trip on the sidewalk along the way but even with a scraped up knee I was at Emily's place by ten. I knocked on the door before opening the door and heading inside. "I'm here Emily!"

Emily:
I got up from the couch and followed her voice. "Hey! Good morning! Have you had any breakfast yet?" I asked.

"I made an omolette earlier. I'm just thirsty right now." I skipped over to give her a hug and a bright smile.

Emily:
I hugged her back with a smile and gave her an extra squeeze. When I pulled away and looked at her, I frowned. "What happened to your knee?" I asked, bending to get a better look at the scrape.

"I tripped on the way over and scraped it." I extended my leg for her to look at, an awkward smile on my lips. "It doesn't hurt too badly."

Emily:
I frowned even though she said it didn't hurt. "Well I still think it should be cleaned so it doesn't get infected." I said. "Here, hop up onto the counter and I'll get some bandages." I said, holding my hands out to boost her up.

With her help I say kn the counter with the leg extended to i could peer at the injury with a cocked head.

Emily:
After she got up on the counter, I ran and grabbed my first aid kit and then came back. "Okay, let me see." I said, getting out a cloth and running it under some warm water. I gently wiped away any dirt that was around the cut, being as gentle as I could. Then I grabbed a tub of healing paste and swiped it on the bandage before gently patting it onto her knee. "There. That should do it."

Lexi:

I giggled after she was done, inspecting her work. I'd winced a little while cleaning it but after she was finished I hopped off the counter and gave her a hug in thanks. "Thank you, it feels much better but....can I have my water now?"

Emily:
I laughed and hugged her back. "Of course you can" I said, pulling away from her and grabbing a water bottle from the fridge. I handed it to her and looked at the clock. It was getting closer to noon and I was getting anxious.
