University Roommates (Restart)

Emily:
I answered the questions when he asked me then and laid my head back against the seat. When we were finished, I squinted through my signature and set the clipboard aside. "Do you think i'm gonna need a needle?" I asked, twisting my fingers together nervously.

Ashon:

I grimaced. "Are you afraid of needles?" I asked her, avoiding her question. The answer was yes, absolutely. They had to do all the routine stuff wen someone came in.

Emily:
"No!" I said, quickly. I just didn't like them...at all. And I may or may not pass out at the sight of one. But I wasn't scared. "Theyre probably just gonna give me something for the pain anyway," I shrugged.

Ashton:

"And the bleeding in your brain probably," I muttered. "Why're you scared of needles?" I asked. It seemed like a silly thing to be afraid of. Then again, I was no stranger to pain or pointy objects.

Emily:
I rolled my eyes at his mumbled comments and glared at him. "I said I wasn't scared," I pointed out. "But, I'm not exactly keen on get stabbed," I told him,

Aston:

"I've been stabbed," I blurted out, not really sure why I said it. "It's really not that bad and a little pin prick needle is nothing. You don't need to worry about it."

Emily:
I turned my head so fast to look at him that it made me dizzy. "Wait, what?" I asked. "What do you mean you've been stabbed?" I squinted at him, looking him up and down like I would somehow be able to see blood or a wound when he was clearly talking about something that happened in the past.

Ashton:

"I was stabbed," I shrugged, doubting whether I should tell her more. "It wasn't serious. The blade was dull. It barely even scarred." I touched touched the spot on my side where it had happened. There was only a fine white line now. No one would immediately notice it if they saw me without a shirt.

Emily:
I looked down at his shirt covered side where he was touching and frowned. "Who stabbed-" I was cut off by a nurse who called my name. I bit my lip. We had been sitting here for an hour and NOW I had to go in? "This conversation isn't over..." I mumbled to him. I stood up and hesitated before moving in the direction of the nurse. "Would you come in with me?" I asked him, my hands fidgeting again. I hated doctors.

Ashton:

I shook my head. "I doubt they would let me. I don't have any connection to you, just a friend," I said. "I'll be out here when you're done. And," I added with a smug smile, "don't be scared of the needles."

Emily:
I rolled my eyes again but there was no real annoyance behind it. I was too nervous for that. I quickly followed the nurse back to an exam room and waited for a doctor.

About forty five minutes later, I had a bandage on my arm, a slightly grey complexion and a prescription for pain killers. Turned out I had a SLIGHT concussion that should heal fine as long as I took it easy. I walked back into the waiting room and tried to remember where I had left Ash.

Ashton:

I walked up to her when she came out. "How are you doing? Did they stick you?" I asked her with my hands in my pocket. She looked terrible and there was a big lump on her forehead that was beginning to turn purple. I felt responsible, and therefore guilty, for what had happened to her. It had been my idea in the first place to go out.

Emily:
I pouted and held my arm out. "Yes, they stuck me, it was horrible." I told him, looking down to inspect the bandage. I didn't say that it might have been better if he had come in and held my hand. "I have a tiny little concussion that should be fine. If I get confused, really dizzy or pass out, I have to come back here," I told him, holding up my prescription and reciting what the doctor had sternly told me.

Ashton:

"Alright, lets get you home and set up on the couch then." I sighed, putting my hand lightly on her back to lead her out to the car. I had been trying to avoid stagnation by getting out of the house, but it seemed it was not meant to be.

Emily:
I bit my lip and walked with him for a minute. "Sorry I hit my head. I was fun before this all happened," I said, pointing at my forehead.

Ashton:

I slid my hand up to her shoulder so my arm was almost around her. "Don't apologize. I should have made sure you knew safety procedures first. It's my fault this happened. I should be apologizing to you," I said with a grimace.

Emily:
I turned my head to look at him as we walked and I almost giggled. "Only I would need safety procedures at the batting cages," I smirked.

Ashton:

I almost smiled at her. "You're a danger magnet. That's for sure." I sighed. Maybe that was why she was drawn to me. I looked away from her, searching for the car in the parking lot even though I knew where it was.

Emily:
"I resent that," I said, not meaning it at all. He wasn't wrong. Especially these last few weeks. "Hey, maybe tomorrow we can go to a gun range," I joked. His arm was still almost around me and I leaned back into him slightly and then pointed. "Is that the car?" I asked.

Ashton:

I snorted at the joke and dropped my arm when we reached the car. I opened the door for her. "Watch your head getting in," I said, knowing her she would reinjure herself. "Have you always been this accident prone?"

Emily:
I got in the car, being very careful of my head and then buckled myself in. "No," I lied. In fact, I was very accident prone and even though I hadn't been to the hospital since I was a kid, that didn't mean I didn't spend a fair share of my time there. "Okay fine, yes," I said, when I figured he wouldn't buy it. And speaking of hospitals, I hadn't forgotten what he had said in the waiting room.

Ashton:

"So you're never going to be my skydiving buddy?" I asked jokingly with a glance at her as I slid into the driver's seat.

Emily:
I shrugged. "I would do it if you dont mind watching my parachute fail and witnessing my death," I said, casually.

Ashton:

My face pinched. "No, I would mind that," I said, not finding any humor in her statement. The frown lingered on my face as I focused on driving. Once again I had a twinge craving for cigarettes as I passed a gas station. I would have cravings from time to time, but actually smoking yesterday had reset it.

Emily:
We spent the rest of the car ride in silence, a noticeable tension in the air. When we got back to the apartment, I reached for glass to get some water. "So, speaking of awkward silences...." I trailed off with a pointed look at him over my shoulder. "Is there anything you feel like elaborating on...Like certain things that were said at the hospital?"
