University Roommates (Restart)

Emily:
"Oh yeah," i said, sarcastically. "Thats the only reason I wanna be around you!" I shook my head at him. "When are you gonna realize that i dont care what you've done! Im not a 'magnet' im a person who gives a shit about you." I told him.

Ashton:

"You shouldn't. I don't." I rubbed my face. "Emily... You're so good. You're amazing. You actually make me happy... You don't deserve someone like me in your life," I said.

Emily:
I groaned and hit the steering wheel, hurting my hand more than anything else. He wasn't listening to anything I was saying. "If thats what you think when you look at me, why is it so hard for you believe that maybe I see the same things?" I asked him. "You're the only one who never asks me to shut up during movies. You watch Harry Potter with me over and over again even though I know you must be getting sick of it by now. You make me grilled cheese sandwiches after I come home drunk out of my mind..." I trailed off and shook my head. "Don't tell me you aren't good because I dont believe it for a second."

Ashton:

I groaned in frustration. "I don't deserve to have you in my life," I muttered. No matter what I thought of her, no matter what I wanted to do with her, there was no way I could ever ask to be anything more than friends. It was bad enough that she thought of me as her best friend after Tasha.

Emily:
"Well too damn bad because i'm not going anywhere," I snapped at him. If I heard him talk badly about himself for one more second, I was gonna lose my mind. I grabbed the steering wheel and put the car back in drive. Without another word, I started the drive home.

Ashton:

I was silent for the rest of the drive. There was nothing more I could bare to say to her. I knew I wouldn't be taking her out again. From now on our relationship would exist in the house only, and If could get more hours at work, I could distance myself from her.

Emily:
I parked the car and wasted no time hopping out and stomping to the front door. I left it open for him, but went straight to my room. I quickly ripped off the blouse and pants that I felt ridiculous for even putting on in the first place. I threw on my sweats and grabbed my glasses from my purse. And then I just stood there, wondering what I was supposed to do. If Tasha was here, I would have gone to her room and complained about how stupid her brother was being and she would play with my hair and tell me he was probably just in one of his moods. But she wasn't here anymore.

Ashton:

I sat alone in the car for a good five minutes before I finally forced myself to go into the house. I found myself in the kitchen pouring a liberal amount of whiskey into a glass. I would have preferred a cigarette, but getting drunk worked two. It wouldn't take much more on top of the five drinks I had at the bar.

Emily:
I tried to curl up in bed, but my mind was racing. I wished now more than ever that there was a TV in my room. What would have helped was throwing in a Harry Potter movie and letting my mind focus on that for a little while. I was driving myself crazy.

Ashton:

I laid down on the couch in the dark wth a second glass and stared up at the ceiling. I don't deserve her played in my head over and over. There was nothing I could do to ever deserve her.

Emily:
After a while of tossing and turning, I threw the covers off myself and peeked my head out of my room. All the lights were off so I assumed Ash went to bed. I shuffled out of my room and went to the kitchen to grab a bad of pretzels. Then I moved to the living room and fumbled around in the dark till I found the table with all my DVDs and held each one really close to my face so I could see the titles.

Ashton:

I opened my eyes to the sound of someone shuffling in the living room. For a second I thought someone was coming after me and my heart hammered in my chest before I realized it was Emily. "What arr you doin'?" I slurred from my spot on the couch.

Emily:
I just about had a heart attack when I heard his voice and I jumped up, grabbing at my chest. "Oh my God, I didn't see you there," I said, out of breath. I got myself under control and set the movies down. "I can't sleep so I figured I'd come out here. But I'll go back inside," I mumbled, grabbing my pretzel bag.

Ashton:

"You don't hav' to go," I mumbled. I didn't want to be alone, despite what had happened and what I should have thought. My muddled brain went purely on what I felt. I sat up a little to look at her in the dark. I could barely make her out from the dim light coming in from the window. "You changed," I said, a tone of disappointment.

Emily:
I hesitated for a second before sighing and settling down on the couch next to him. He was clearly much more drunk than he was when we left the bar. "Yeah, I changed. I looked stupid anyway," I said, settling the pretzels on the table. "You, on the other hand, have not changed...aren't you uncomfortable?" I asked, pulling my knees up to my chest.

Ashton:

I looked down at my shirt with a frown and started to undo it. I got to the second button before I forgot what I was trying to do and abandoned my action. "You didn' look stupid. You were stunnin'. I never saw you look like that."

Emily:
I couldn't help but smile and shake my head. "You're a little drunk huh?" I asked, amused. It figured that the one time he compliments me its because he's so drunk he can't see straight.

Ashton:

"Yeah... I'm sorry... I'm sorry I looked at your ass earlier on the way out," I sighed dramatically and reached for my mostly empty scotch glass.

Emily:
"Hey I have an idea...how I about I take this..." I said, taking the glass out of his hands and moving it out of his reach. I had a feeling he would forget all about it in a second. Then what he said registered in my head. "So I guess you're not gay then?" I smirked.

Ashton:

I looked at her and squinted. "It's debatable," I said with a shrug. I sat up on the couch and immediately sagged against her as a wave of dizziness hit me.

Emily:
I grunted when I felt his body hit mine. He was not leaning against my side and I moved my hand up to brush his hair out of his eyes. "You okay?" I asked, looking down at him. "Maybe we should try to get you int bed now," I said.

Ashton:

"I thought we were watching Arry Potter?" I stared at the TV screen as if it would turn on suddenly. I slouched a little more and leaned my head against her when she brushed my hair back. I was aware that my head was resting on her breast and wondered if that was wrong.

Emily:
I giggled. "Uh, we weren't, but I could put it on if you want," I offered. His seemed to be getting comfortable and I had to admit, he was nice to be around when he wasn't pushing me away. I ran my fingers through his hair again. It was probably selfish of my to enjoy touching him like this because I knew if he was sober, he would never come this close.

Ashton:

I closed my eyes and enjoyed the feeling of her playing with my hair. This was what I had wanted, to be close with her, to be able to forget everything else and live in the moment. I forgot about the movie, coming very close to unconsciousness. "You're the best," I mumbled.

Emily:
I closed my eyes when it became clear that we werent getting up. I bit my lip at his mumbled words, wishing he had said them a few hours ago in the car. I kept my fingers in his hair until I fell asleep, feeling more comfortable than I could have imagined.
