University Roommates (Restart)

Emily:
When I woke up in the morning, it was to a pounding headache. I groaned and kept my eyes squeezed shut, knowing I deserved the hangover.

Ashton:

I had to force myself not to hid out in my room. I had told her I wouldn't do that anymore and I didn't want it to have been a lie. So once I was awake, I crept into the kitchen, and when I saw that she was stiring, I said, “How about some scrambled eggs and coffee?”

Emily:
I peeled my eyes open and sat myself up, rubbing my forehead. "Coffee sounds good," I said, my voice a little raspy. "I'm not hungry though...." I said, feeling a little queasy. I was surprised he wasn't in his room. I had to admit that after last night, I almost expected it.

Ashton:

I started the coffee then went on to make eggs even though she said she wasn't hungry. "What do you want in your coffee?" I asked, pouring two cups. I put two spoonfuls of sugar in mine and topped it off with a stream of milk.

Emily:
I pushed the blanket off my legs and stood up. It took me a few seconds for the room to stop spinning but when it did, I slowly shuffled into the kitchen. "I can help," I said, squinting. I had a headache but as far as hang overs went, I felt better than I deserved. Probably because he fed me and made me drink water last night. I got the sugar bowl off the counter and grabbed the milk from the fridge and brought them over to him. I wanted to thank him for last night. He was nice to me and I couldn't tell if it was because he felt bad for me or what. I was embarrassed that he saw me last night, and if I was remembering correctly, I'm pretty sure I cried. I felt my face heat up at the though and I kept my eyes away from him.

Ashton:

I watched her with sideways glances while I cooked. "How's your head?" I asked as I shoveled the scrambled eggs onto our plates and tossed shredded cheese over them. I couldn't tell if she was purposefully avoiding looking at me. I wondered if she was still mad at me for how I had acted.

Emily:
I stirred my coffees slowly and added a little more milk. It gave me something to look at. "It feels better than I deserve," I said with a shrug. "I guess I have you to thank for that..." I said, adding way more sugar than I actually wanted because when I was done, I knew I would have to look at him.

Ashton:

I sighed and put my hands on the counter. "You have me to thank for the whole situation. If I hadn't been a jerk, then you wouldn't have gone out like you had," I said. I could definitely tell that she wasn't looking at me on purpose now.

Emily:
I looked up at him, finally, a little startled. "What are you talking about? I'm the one that went out and got drunk. You didn't force me to do that," I said. Yeah, he was a jerk. But he also rode his damn bike to come pick me up and then made sure I ate something and drank water. It was suddenly serious in the room and I looked away again. This time it was because I remembered something. "Did I loose a cat...?" I asked, a ghost of a memory flashing through my head.

Ashton:

I pursed my lips trying not to laugh. "No, but you were certainly concerned about it," I said with a small grin. "Come on lets eat," I picked up my plate then gently put my hand flat on the middle of her back to nudge her toward the couch. It was one of the few times I intentionally touched her. I could feel her warmth through her shirt and, even as simple a touch as it was, it sent a ripple of pleasure through me.

Emily:
I grabbed my coffee mug before I was nudged towards the couch. I set my coffee down so I wouldn't spill it and plopped back down where I had fallen asleep. "I did say I wasn't hungry," I reminded him. the coffee would do just fine for my headache. I rubbed at my eyes again, hoping to ease some of the pressure that was behind them.

Ashton:

I set the plate in front of her and got mine. "Doesn't matter, you need to eat." I told her with a shrug, I didn't mean to let her weasel out of it. I looked down at her for just a moment and gave the smallest sigh. I tried to keep it at bay, but the guilt started to set in. I couldn't help but think I shouldn't be out here with her.

Emily:
I heard a small sigh and looked over at him. He was looking at me, pretty intensely and I wondered for a second if he was that concerned about my eating. Did I look that bad? I rolled my eyes and grabbed a fork, shoving a mouthful in. "Are you happy now?" I asked, after I swallowed.

Ashton:

"Mmm," I mumbled, reaching for the remote control. I focused on the TV and didn't look at her again. I flipped through the channels, leaving it for thirty seconds or so on each one before changing it. I didn't know what I was looking for, just that I needed a distraction.

Emily:
I put the fork down and narrowed my eyes at him a little. He got weird all of the sudden. I let him sit quietly for a few minutes but his rapid changing of the channels were making my head spin.
"Okay, I wasn't nauseous until you started doing that, so unless you wanna lose remote privileges, you'll pick something," I said. "Or you can hand over the remote."

Ashton:

"Alright." I stopped on a reality show at random, one of those, "who's the daddy" type things. I handed over the remote after a minute of the audience shouting and booing at the stage.

Emily:
I looked from him to the remote a bunch of times before sighing. We had stupid fights over the remote like this all the time and never, not once, had he given in. "What's your problem now?" I asked, lowering the volume on the TV.

Ashton:

"I cant find something I want to settle on," I said with a shrug. I had a sudden itch for the cigarettes I had gotten rid of yesterday. I ran my hand over my pants leg.

Emily:
I quickly switched the TV to some sitcom and set the remote down. I watched him fidget for a moment and crossed my arms, staring at the tv without even paying attention. He clearly did not want to be sitting in here. So why was he?

Ashton:

"Lets go do something. I'm tired of sitting on the couch." I said after a period of silence. I was going to go crazy if I sat there on the couch with her with no distractions. "We could go bowling or something."

Emily:
I turned to look at him with my eyebrows raised in surprised. "You...want to go bowling?" I asked, half making sure I heard him right. I shrugged. "Uh. Okay. Give me a second to change my clothes," I said, pulling myself off the couch. "I'll be right out," I told him and headed into my room. I quickly changed into a new pair of jeans and a simply tshirt. I had fallen asleep with my contacts in last night and now I had to wear my glasses. I stepped back into the living room when I was done.

Ashton:

I was sitting in one of the bar stools at the counter, waiting for her. "I had a better idea. Do you like baseball? We could go to the batting cages," I suggested. I felt the need to do something physical, and there was too much waiting in bowling.

Emily:
I smiled, sort of amused at his sudden need for exercise. "Sure, we could do that," I said, totally forgetting that I sucked at baseball. "You're driving though...I dont know where it is," I said, grabbing the keys off the counter and tossing them to him. "Lets go," I said.

Ashton:

I remembered seeing it when Tasha brought me home, but it still took a bit of driving around to find the place. Once we got there I got us set up for an hour in one of the cages. "You want to try it first?" I asked her, offering the bat.

Emily:
"Oh...sure," I said, stepping over to him and taking the bat. It immediately felt awkward in my hands and I looked around. "Who's gonna throw the ball?" I asked, holding the bat up on my shoulder like im pretty sure I had seen professionals do on TV.
