The Creation of the Perfect Assassins

"He's probably dead anyway...Just like mom...I'll never find him..And he doesn't care. He never came back... He'll never come back..." Lexi whispered, tears dripping off her chin, down onto the pavement below. Thunder rumbled overhead as dark clouds congregated above the two girls.

Krissy:

"But you can't do this. You have to show life that you are stronger, that you don't give up, that you will fight all the way to the end. You can't just opt out." I said.

Lexi leaned forward more as small raindrops started falling from the clouds above. "I have to, Krissy... I'll only bring you danger..."

Krissy:

"No." I said firmly. My hands were tight on her wrist. If she went over, so would I. "You can't. Kyle and I are already in so much trouble as it is. You couldn't make it worse, you could help us though. I can't lose any one else, there has just been too much."

"You can't even trust me, Krissy. Let go before I pull you over too," Lexi commanded, her other hand slipping from the bar.

Krissy:

"No." I said and braced my leg against the railing. "I'll scream if you go over." I warned her.

"Let GO, Krissy!" Lexi exclaimed, trying to free her wrist from the other girl's grasp.

Krissy:

"No!" I said forcefully. I wouldn't let go. I tried to pull her back but wasn't strong enough.

"I'm going and you can't stop me!" Lexi yelled. Her foot slipped and she was hanging onto the railing painfully in Krissy's grasp, her other hand grabbing the piece of concrete just outside the railing.

Krissy:

I gasped wrenched over the railing after her, luckily my ankle caught saving us both from the fall. I was bent over the railing at my stomach, and breathless for a moment. I sucked in a breath and screamed for my brother. "Kyle! Kyle! Kyle!" I shrieked.

"Krissy! Let go!" Lexi yelled, wincing in pain at Krissy's fingernails biting into her skin.

Krissy:

I shook my head frantically. I screamed for Kyle again and then he was there, hair sopping wet and topless but still there. He put and arm around me to hold me there then wrapped his hand around her arm below mine. "Krissy let go." He ordered and I did falling back onto the balcony. Kyle pulled Lexi back over.

"No..." Lexi whimpered, trying to get back to the railing. She wanted to go. She didn't want to fight it anymore. She didn't want to run anymore. And she would have to if she lived.

Kyle:

I held her tightly. The way I did when I was trying to restrain Krissy. "What did you think you were doing?" I demanded, but not harshly.

"Please..." Lexi cried. "I don't want to keep fighting...Just let me die..."

Kyle:

"You don't get out that easy." I told her pulling her away from the railing.

Lexi turned to face him, her face streaked with tears. "You don't even like me. YOU wanted to kill me. WHy won't you let me die?"

Kyle:

"It doesn't work that way. Life is a privilege, don't throw it away." I told her.

Lexi cried, resting her head against his chest as the rain started pounding down on them.

Kyle:

I smoothed my hand over her back. I was used to this. Suddenly I didn't see her as a threat or an enemy. She was just a little girl, like my sister, who needed some one to look after them.

She continued to cry for a while until she eventually took a step away from him, shivering and shaking from the cold wind. "Can we...go inside?"

Kyle:

"Go inside." I told her and crouched next to Krissy who had stayed seated on the ground. "Are you okay?" I asked her softly. "Yeah, just my ankle, I think it's sprained."

Lexi nodded and retreated back inside. She went into the bathroom, wrapping herself in a towel as she shivered, sitting on the floor, eventually falling asleep again against the wall.

Kyle:

I helped Krissy into the bedroom. I knocked on the bathroom door lightly then pushed it open. I carried Lexi to the bed as well then fell into an armchair.
