Boarding School for the Mythical

Tabitha:

“Uhh.” I said breathlessly distracted by what he was doing. “I.. like it… very much..” I admitted. My cheeks flushed deeply.

Sphinx:

"Why is is that my heart does such weird things around you..." I mused before continuing in another language, an old but beautiful language. My eyes were on her, but they weren't focused on her.

Tabitha:

I stared at him, lost in his eyes and mesmerized by him speaking though I didn’t know what he was saying. Shade hopped up onto the counter and watched him like he understood every word.

Shade's movements brought me out of my thoughts, dragging me through all those memories. I blinked and stopped mid stroke on her cheek. Color came to my cheeks, and I shifted from foot to foot. "S-sorry, I dont know what came over me." I said. I noticed how close I was standing to her, less than a foot between us, and my hand was still at her cheek but I didn't move away.

Tabitha:

Even when he shook himself out of it I was still in a trance. It took a while whine from Shade to snap me out of it. “Oh.” I breathed, blinking.

((I get the feeling that someday Shade will be the one to make them kiss...))

I grinned nervously at her, letting my hand fall, unintentionally letting it brush down her side on the way down.

((Or keep them from it =P))

Tabitha I flushed and stepped away to tend to the coffee. “Milk? Cream? Sugar?” I asked as I poured two cups.

"Milk and a little sugar please." I said shyly, moving back and sitting on the couch in the living room. The light was better in here, and more comfortable. A part of me admitted that I could also be closer to her in here.

Tabitha:

I fixed his coffee the way he said then poured about half milk into mine. “Here.” I said taking his cup to him then sitting down next to him. “You came all this way in the pouring rain just to give me my sweat shirt?” I asked with a smile.

I rubbed the back of my head and took a sip of my coffee instead of answering, not really sure I could trust me to not make a fool of myself by speaking. It was intriguing to me that I was so pent up around her. It was like something was clawing at me for release around her, but I could never figure out what it was. She was different, and sparked an unquenchable curiosity in me. One I hoped I could explore till the end of time.

Tabitha:

I watched him as I sipped my coffee. The undeniable attraction made butterflies in my stomach. Shade crawled into my lap and huffed softly resting his head on my knee. I was thankful that he served as a distraction.

Sphinx:

I looked at Shade, tilting my head. I sighed and muttered to myself in the ancient language again. "What am I doing....why cant I just figure out why she means so much to me...why I cant I just say what she means to me..."

Shade tilted his head at Sphinx then licked his girl’s leg possessively. She was his.

Tabitha:

“What was that? I asked when he muttered.

I blinked and looked up at her. "Sorry, its the language of my race. Call it a language of creation. Its older than the language of angels."

Tabitha:

“How can that be?” I asked unknowingly inching closer to him. “What is your race exactly?” I asked.

I smiled. "Well, they did make a statue of me in Egypt....but I think I might have broken the nose..." I grimaced at the memory of that night.

Tabitha:

My lips parted in surprise. “Ah.. I take it Sphinx isn’t a nickname then… How old are you?” I asked. My mind was churning to process this all.

Sphinx:

"In a technical sense, I lost track. I do remember that who ever decided that humans and clubs or spears would make a good combination was a fricken idiot...fire strangely wasnt that bad though. Things weren't raw then." I said musingly.

Tabitha:

I stared at him. “Oh my god.” I said without thinking I turned so I was staring at the wall rather than him. “So you’re like…. Oh my god.”

Sphinx:

I looked at her in confusion. "What?" I asked my voice tinged with worry.

Tabitha:

“I thought you were my age.. Or close to it..” I said slowly. Shade huffed and crawled out of my lap to lay between us.

Sphinx:

"Well, I'm told a lot that I dont act my age, but at the same time I dont want to act my age. Sphinx's age as they want, we dont actually age normally." I admitted to her.

Tabitha:

“So… Why are you in school then? Weren’t you around when they came up with all of this stuff?” I asked looking at him sideways.

Sphinx:

"I took breaks from the world at times to go study other things. Human culture I haven't checked in with for a while. I took a break till now since the time of the Sphinx being built for me." I said softly with a shrug.

Tabitha:

“How do you take a break from the world?” I asked curiously, tilting my head a little.
