Boarding School for the Mythical

Sphinx:

"Visit other places. Valhalla was nice. Just too many people wanting to fight you once you throw Odin across his hall." I said sheepishly.

Tabitha:

Stared at him with my lips parted. “This is unreal. I think I may still be asleep…” I said slowly. “Shade, bite me if this is real.” I asked holding my hand out. Shade bit me almost hard enough to draw blood. “ooh, okay.”

I blinked and looked down at Shade before looking up at her. I was surprised to find how close we had been getting to each other.

Tabitha:

I was leaning on my hand threaded through my hair. My breath turned shallow when I saw how close he was to me. “So..” I said, unable to think of a single thing other than how attractive he was, and how close he was, and how alone we were…

Sphinx:

"Sphinx's can age as they want. Usually to fit in with a culture." I said to her softly, wavering between moving closer and moving away.

Tabitha:

“So.. You could stay like this forever? And you won’t.. Die?” I asked, my voice low as if I didn’t want anyone else to hear us.

Sphinx:

"Age, disease, and a few other ways wont kill me. Now, exhaustion, stabbings, bullets, most magics, and many more things can kill me." I said softly, my body unconciously deciding to lean a bit closer.

Tabitha:

“But you could actually live forever if none of that happens?” I asked looking into his eyes. I barely noticed when Shade sighed deeply.

I nodded. "Yes, I can. For all the good it does me."

Tabitha:

“You don’t want to? But you could do anything.. learn everything, go everywhere…” I trialed off, it seemed like a dream come true to have enough time to do all of that.

Sphinx:

"That is why I take breaks from humanity to see what else they have learned." I said flashing her a grin.

Tabitha:

His grin was contagious. I couldn’t help but grin in return, my gaze flickering down to his lips for a second.

The grin slowly faded as I once again unconsciously moved a bit closer.

Tabitha:

I felt butterflies in my stomach. I thought I should say something, but nothing came to mind.. Shade looked up like he heard something. He jumped off the couch. Now there was nothing between Sphinx and I... I leaned a little closer then startled when I heard the room phone ring. I sat back and sighed in annoyance with the ringing phone. "The machine will get it." I said, waving my hand toward the phone.

I nodded, my body freezing in place. I realized how close we were but I wasn't sure what to do I didn't know if I should get closer, pull away or what. All I knew is that I occationally got her scent. I had once had my scent described before, it was a foresty, rainy, exotic scent. With a bit of the persons favorite smells mixed in. The three mains one were always there but the rest of it depended on the person.

Tabitha:

The machine picked up and my sister’s voice filled the room. “Tabs? Where are you? I called your cell, you didn’t pick up. Can you call me back? Please? I just want to see how you’re doing there. Make sure you’re okay. Alright, love you. Call me back.” I sighed. She was so prone to worrying. “Sorry, that was my sister.” I rolled my eyes.

Sphinx:

"Hey, be happy you people who care like that." I said softly.

Tabitha:

“I guess, but it can get really annoying. I talked to her yesterday anyway. And she doesn’t worry over Ari or Lira like that.” I sighed then waved it away.

Sphinx:

"I would give anything to spend time with my family again. They all just started vanishing and no matter how much I search I cant find any of them, but I have been alone for a long time so im used to it." I said with an absent shrug.

Tabitha:

“You don’t have any family left?” I asked. The need to hug him or let him know that he was cared about was overwhelming.

Sphinx:

I shook my head. "Nope, and while I make a lot of friends I have only seen my family a few times. Friends can only do so much, and I have never had someone as more than a friend." I said absently with a shrug a far off look in my eyes.

Tabitha:

“You’ve never had someone as more than a friend.” I repeated slowly. “You mean you’ve never had a…” I trailed off, maybe he wouldn’t want to talk about it.

Sphinx:

"I have never courted anyone. Not to say people haven't tried to get with me. But very few have ever captivated me. Your one of the few that I cant stop being curious about." I admitted a faint touch of color coming to my cheeks.

Tabitha:

I blinked in surprise. “And what does that mean exactly?” I asked softly, my cheeks slowly turning pink.

Sphinx:

I shrugged. "Haven't a clue." I replied grinning. It was true, she was just so interesting to me, but I had no idea why or how or what to do about it.
