Perfect Assassins

Michael:

I nearly didn't hear him, just worried sick to my stomach. I looked at him, no effort made to hide my feelings. "Yeah."

Kyle:

I climbed into the car and started the engine. I was trying not to think about her, there was nothing I could do more for her for now anyway.

Michael:

I sat in the passenger seat, my hands in my lap. One hand cupping the other. It was on these hands that I focused, my eyes both seeing and not seeing them at the same time as I struggled inwardly.

Kyle:

I kept my eyes on the road, and despite my best efforts, my thoughts were dragged back to childhood memories. I had always tried so hard to keep her alive and safe. And yet even when I had eyes on her she managed to get horribly hurt.

Michael:

My eyes never left my lap.

~Time skip three days~
Kyle:

I sent Michael down to get us both something from the cafeteria while I watched over Krissy. She hadn’t woken up, not since surgery. They were keeping her heavily drugged to give her body time to heal. The knife had town her up a bit inside when Eric had twisted it, they had to remove some things.
A nurse came in to give her a sponge bath and sent me out of the room. I took the time to stretch my legs a little, I had spent every hour in her room just sitting watching her unmoving body. Only taking brief breaks. I didn’t what to leave her alone. I assumed the nurse would come get me when she was finished.

Krissy:

The constant beeping was what originally woke me up but then I became aware of how freezing it was. I blinked slowly, my eyelids felt so heavy and I could only hold them open for a few seconds. I took a minute to rest then tried again. I knew I was in a hospital room, the smell of it had clued me in more that the room itself. I tried to sit up but felt too weak. I inched my hand over my belly and under the hospital shirt. I felt the bandage and gradually peeled up the tape holding it on. I shifted in aside then felt the long line of knots holding my skin together. It started just below my belly button and twisted around it then went in a semi staright line toward my stomach but stopped a little short. I swallowed closing my eyes at the last memory I had, the one where I got this cut in my belly. My eyes got wet and made it hard to see when I opened them again. I was alone. I hated that. It scared me more that it reasonably should. I put my hands up to cover my fave as more tears trickled down my face. My entire body ached, and it was painfull to cry but I couldn’t help myself.

Michael:

I stood in line at the cafeteria, feeling numb. I looked and felt like I had been up for three days straight. And in truth I had. I couldn't bring myself to sleep, and I felt nothing but guilt right now. Nothing anyone said was making me any happier, and I couldn't do anything about it.

I shuffled over and started putting food on the two trays, not paying much attention to what I put on them. Even though I put food on to my own tray, I knew that like all the other meals. I wouldn't eat it.

Krissy:

I calmed myself slowly, enough to think about my situation. Why was I alone? How had I gotten here? Where exactly was I? I tried to remember the events that got me here. Eric stabbed me, I knew that. He left didn’t he? I couldn’t remember… Did he bring me here? If so why? Maybe he didn’t mean to kill me, just incapacitate me... If that was the case then I was trapped here. I tried to sit up and moaned softly at the pain and dizziness. I managed to get up to my elbows. I ripped the IV out of my arm, I didn’t want to be fed drugs. Slowly I managed to sit up all the way. I was drained of energy and weak. And just a bit groggy. I placed my bare feet on the cold floor and made my attempt to get up. I couldn’t stand. I had stood up too quickly and my vision went black. I crouched on the floor and scooted all the way to the wall once I could see again. I took a moment to rest. What a pitiful mess I was. How was I going to escape if I was in this poor of condition. I heard voices outside the door and got very still. There were no weapons I could use in this room. Even the needle in my arm had been a rubber one. I supposed I could strangle someone with the IV tube, if I had the strength… The voices went away outside the door went away. I used the wall as support and got to my feet again. I leaned against the wall a little as I shuffled over to the door. I eased it open and peaked out. The hallway was empty. I made my escape and left the room. I had no idea where I was going, just trying to find a way out. I hated hospitals. I had turned down another hallway when I heard footsteps. I panicked and stepped into the first room I found. It was empty and dark.

Michael:

I quietly thanked the man behind the register and carried both tray's towards Krissy's room. I kept my eyes on the floor, only vaguely paying attention to what was going on around me.

Krissy:

I braced myself against the wall and slid down it. I had no plan. Even if I did get free what was I supposed to do? I had no weapons or way to contact Kyle… and I was dressed in pajamas. I put my hed between my knees and hugged my throbing belly. I was in to far over my head this time. I started to cry again.

Michael:

I paused outside Krissy's room, knocking on it with my foot so that Kyle would let me in. "I got food." I called.

Krissy:

I laid down on the cold tile lost in the pain of all of it. I was more helpless now than I had been in a very long time.

I sighed softly when no one answered and so I kicked at the door a little harder to try and get his attention.

Kyle:

I ended the call and walked back to Krissy’s room in frustration. “the nurse is with her.” I told Michael dully when I saw him at her door.

Michael:

I blinked at him and paused mid kick. "I have been knocking, no one is answering...are you sure?"

Kyle:
I sighed and opened the door. “Damn it, she was supposed to come get-“ I paused mid-sentence when I saw the empty bed. I swore again. I went past Michael, leaving him there to go to the front desk on that floor to demand what they had done with my sister.

I just stood there looking at the empty bed. My brain was shutting down and not functioning in an effort to protect my mind. I just couldn't deal with the fact that Krissy was gone. And so I just stood there.

Kyle:

I returned with the same nurse who wanted to see if Krissy was really gone. She came in and checked her chart. “It must be a mix up… It doesn’t say anything…” She acted all confused. “Well find her.” I said darkly. She went for more help. I stood by the empty unmade bed. The IV tube was loose and fluid was dripping from the needle to the floor. She wasn’t moved.

I continued to hold onto the trays before turning and leaving the room. I needed some place to clear my head, so I chose a room at random, pushing it open and then closed behind me.

Krissy:

I cringed as the door opened and curled in on myself, Hiding my face with my hair. I gave a soft moan of pain.

"Hello?" I asked tiredly, unsure where the noise had some from. Maybe I was loosing it?

Krissy:

I drew in a sharp breath. “Michael?” I asked quietly. My voice was horse and scratchy.

I looked around, my eyes not adjusted to the darkness of the room. "Hello?" I called softly.
