Naveen

Rina:

“Oh wonderful, we have royalty among us.” I rolled my eyes, though the irony of the statement was not lost on me.

I shook my head. "I am not royalty. What good is a throne when your people are dying out, and you have no one to rule with."

Rina:

I snorted. How true is words were. “No good at all. It’s a life I can’t imagine anyone actually trying to get.” I said.

Talon:

"Which is why I don't want it." I said my voice soft. "You speak as if you know what its like."

Rina:

I looked at him steadily. “I’ve watched the royal family make a mess of this country and it makes me sick. My father used to live in the castle, he told me how corrupt it had become. I just couldn’t imagine it.” I shrugged, holding my clothes a little closer. “You looked like you’re all healed up.” I commented.

I nodded, "I am. Shall we head back to camp, or is there something else you wanted to do or say?" I asked a slight teasing smile coming to my lips.

Rina:

I gave him a dry look before making my way back down the path that brought me here.

I followed along my eyes taking in her clothing with a slight appreciative air, but as soon as I was done taking it in I focused elsewhere.

Rina:

“How long will it take to get there?” I asked, watching the woods in front of me as I walked rather than looking at him.

"We can rush there and be there in a day or so. Or we can try to loose our pursuers and take three days. Either way, my men need to make a binding with rope so that we can lose as few of you all as possible in the mists." I said after some thought.

Rina:

“What do you mean?” I asked with a frown looking at him this time.

Talon:

"The reason everyone fears the mountain is because in the mists live monsters. Not only that but seeing in the mist is difficult. The ropes will help keep us all together." I told her, giving her a tired smile.

Rina:

“Lovely.” I muttered. Iris landed softly on my shoulder and nestled in my hair.

Talon:

I just shook my head, abandoning normal speech with her. She was always in a bad mood.

Rina:

I didn’t say anything all the way back to the camp. The solders had set up all the tents in my absence.

Wren:

I was asleep with my head on Maleen inside a tent. It was a small tent and only made for one person but neither of us really wanted to be alone right now.

Maleen:

I stared at the top of the tent trying not to think about what had happened today, but I was able to think of nothing else.

Rina:

I asked where the girls where when I got back and made my way to their tent.

Wren:

I cuddled more against Maleen before opening my eyes and sitting up a bit to look at her. "Your not sleeping."

Maleen:

“I’m not sleepy.” I looked down at her. I tensed a little when the tent flap was pulled back, then relaxed when I saw it was Rina. “How are you two?” She asked.

Wren:

"I'm good. I just wish Maleen would get some rest too." I said to Rina before giving Maleen a shy smile.

Maleen:

I looked down and picked at the blanket that was around my legs. “I’m not really sleepy.” I muttered. “Try to rest, we’ve got a lot of traveling to do.” Rina told us.

Wren:

I looked sadly at Maleen and I scooted up to kiss her on the cheek. I laid back down and hugged her as best as I could, my eyes staying open though.

Maleen:

Rina left and I blushed. I rubbed Wrens back gently. “Get some sleep, I’m fine really. I promise.” I told her with a soft smile.

Wren:

I smiled back, and nuzzled my head against her and cuddled closer for warmth.

Maleen:

I listened to the sound of the camp outside our tent as Wren fell asleep. Slowly, slowly the sounds died down as the night grew. I laid awake for hours thinking about the day. Shouldn’t I have been able to do something? Couldn’t I have been able to save lives? What good was being a witch if in a crisis I was numbed with fear and unable to do any magic? Even with the little magic I knew, I should have been able to do something. Wasn’t I captured by Rina to be of some use, to aid them in their conquest? I couldn’t even protect myself. I was pitiful. I was no more a weapon than Wren was, and I didn’t want to be used as a weapon. I was scared for my future now like I never had been before. As I prisoner at least I knew what I would be doing from day to day. Now I didn’t know what was next, who might die, what I might be used for…
Tears streamed down my cheeks while I stared at the peak of our tent. I dozed off just shortly before dawn.
