University Roommates

Natasha:

“The waiter over there keeps looking at me and smiling.” I said without missing a beat. It was true the waiter across the restaurant did keep looking at me, but I had noticed it earlier.

Ashton:

I twisted around to look at the guy. When he saw me looking he ducked away into the kitchen and I turned back frowning.

Heather-
I turned in my chair to see but he must have already looked away because I couldn't pick out which one she was talking about. "Oh he's cute," I said, wanting to encourage my friend to go for him.

Ashton:

My frown deepened and Tasha grinned. Our waitress came back to take our orders, and soon the girls each had their salad infront of them and I had a bowl of soup that came with my meal.

Heather-
I took a bite of my salad and stayed quiet, not really knowing what to say. After all, it was his idea to come to dinner in the first place.

Ashton:

Tasha started talking about her weekend and how she wanted to go back and visit sometime. All through her conversation she kept glancing back to the waiter and smiling, much to my annoyance. Tasha carried most of the conversation through dinner.

“You two go on back to the car, I’ll be right out.” She said once we were finished and I had paid.

Heather-
I smiled and shook my head. I hoped she was going to give the waiter her number or something so I quietly grabbed my bag and made my way to the door. I headed for the car and stopped at the passenger side door and turned to lean against it while I waited for Ashton to unlock it.

Ashton:

I followed her and unlocked and opened the door for her before going back to the drivers side and sliding in. I started the car and turned the radio on to fill the silence.

Heather-
I slid into the seat and looked out the window. I still didn't see Tasha walking out yet so I assumed she was talking to that guy. "Only Tasha would have the confidence to get a guys number like that..." I mumbled, half to myself.

Ashton:

“She is pretty confident.” I said with a small smile. “She always used to be the first one to do something daring when we were kids.”

Heather-
I smiled softly and nodded. "Sometimes I wish it would rub off on me..." I said, honestly.

Ashton:

I looked over at her. "You seem confident enough to me." I said softly.

Heather-
I glanced up at him and when I noticed him looking, I kept the eye contact. "I can be confidant sometimes," I shrugged.

Ashton:

My attention was drawn away from her by my sister running out in front of the car. She knocked on the window. I rolled it down with an annoyed frown, suspecting what she was about to say.
"I'm going to stay here for a bit, you two go on." She had a happy smile, and her cheeks were flushed.

Heather-
I smirked at her and shook my head, settling into my seat. I knew she would be safe so I didn't say a word. I buckled my seat belt and gave her a little wave. This was the confidence I was talking about. The confidence I didn't have.

Ashton:

I sighed deeply. “Fine. But text me every so often so I know you haven’t been killed, and answer if I call.” I told her. “Yes Mom.” She said with a roll of her eyes as she backed away from the car and waved.

Heather-
"She's always careful. You don't have to worry so much," I told him as she walked away.

Ashton:

"She's my baby sister. I'll always worry." I answered starting to back up. "What do you want to do?"

Heather-
I shrugged but smiled a bit at how much he loved his sister. "I don't care. We can just go home if you want," I said. He took us out to apologize, not because he actually wanted to hang with us. So I would let him off the hook.

Ashton:

I leaned my head back on the seat and looked at her. “What do you want to do?” I repeated a little more firmly.

Heather-
I looked at him and played with my fabric at the bottom of my shirt, squinting my eyes a bit. I had just let him off the hook. Why was he pressing it? I looked out the window to see what was around and a small sign gave me an idea. "Wanna go bowling?" I asked, raising an eyebrow.

Ashton:

“Alright. But I’m warning you now, I’m terrible at it.” I put the car in drive and drove across the street to the little bowling alley.

Heather-
Once the car was parked, I unbuckled my seatbelt and opened the car door. "So am I," I said, getting out. I stuck my hands in my pockets because it was getting darker and a bit chillier. I bounced on the balls of my feet while I waited for him.

Ashton:

I smiled a little and joined her on the other side of the car. I put my hand on her back to guide her to the entrance, it was a simple gesture and I did it without thinking about it.

Heather-
I leaned into his touch a bit and we walked together into the bowling alley. I headed right for the counter and leaned my elbows on it. "Can I have a size six shoe please?" I asked, then I looked down at his feet. "What size are you? A ten?"

Ashton:

"Twelve please." I said to the counter guy in answer. I also got a couple bags of candy and a drink for each of us.
