Zombies! (Open)

I focused on getting everything in the back as quickly as possible. I wasn't concerned with how neatly it was put away. That could be dealt with later.

Kate:

Having taken the two out, I circled around the other side of the vehicle to guard them. I stepped up to kill one, grabbing its throat to stab it in the head. It was stranger than I expected and caused me to stumble back. Not a second after I killed it another one was lunging toward me. I grunted as I took it out.

I got everything into the back and slammed it down. "Let's go." I said moving around the vehicle to join Kate.

Kate:

I climbed into the back seat of the car, next to Emily and Elijah after flicking gore off the knife and my hands. Aiden hit the gas once we were all in and hit one zombie in the parking lot.

I let out a soft breath once we were away, my eyes closing. "I'm going to try and nap..." I announced softly as I closed my eyes and laid my head against the window. "Wake me if anything happens."

Kate:

I smiled softly remembering that he said he could sleep only in the car. I dug into my bag in the back seat then leaned in-between the front seats to nudge Everett. “It’s a nursing pillow, but it doubles as a neck pillow and it’s pretty comfy.” I told him, holding out the pillow with Winnie the Pooh characters on it.

I opened my eyes and blinked at the pillow in surprise. I took it and gave her a shy appreciative smile. I hadn't expect her to remember last night or even offer to help like this. "Thank you." I said taking the pillow and placing it behind my head.

Kate:

“You’re welcome.” I said softly as I sat back. I used wet wipes to clean myself off then I pulled Elijah into my lap to feed him baby food that I had in my bag.

I had a small smile on my face as I fell asleep against the pillow, my body relaxing as the tension left me.

Kate:

I talked with Emily quietly while we drove, occasionally Aiden would cut in with his own comment. We had been lucky to find these two. They were clearly good people. You couldn't always be so lucky.

((Speaking of lucky people and good people...))

Ari:

I panted softly as I clutched my ribs and ran. Gods, if it wasn't zombies it was bandits. And if it wasn't bandits, it was nice people. I wasn't sure which of the three was worse. I checked the revolver in my hands and gave a small huff as I tossed it aside. Out of ammo. Perfect. I took a right turn and ducked into a doorway, leaning my head back against the wall.

Kate:

It took us a while to get out of the country side. We had to stop to refuel and we were only able to find half a tanks worth of gas. We reached the city a little after noon. I had been nervous to go to a big city, the last time we had been in one it had been total chaos, and dangerous. But there were more people in the cities then. Now it was a ghost town.

Aria:

I panted softly and kept running. I was sure I was losing the people behind me, but that wasn't enough. I wanted to get out and be safe. I turned my head over my shoulder to look behind me as I ran out of an ally and into the street.

Aiden:

I cursed what I saw the zombie dart out in front of the car. I hit the breaks the slow the car so it wouldn’t get too damaged on impact, I realized a second too late that it wasn’t a zombie. My foot pressed down on the breaks, the suburban came to a sudden stop but not before it thumped into him. “Oh shit.”

Ari:

I didn't hear the car until I heard the breaks squealing. I turned and let out a soft gasp right before the suburban hit me throwing me to the ground. The impact of the car wasn't what hurt the most. My head slamming into the ground was. But I wasn't conscious long enough to feel any of the pain.

Kate:

I hand flew out in front of Elijah and Emily both, protecting them from the impact. “What was that? What just happened?” I asked pulling Elijah out of his car seat to hold him in my lap. He got frightened and started fussing quietly.

Aiden:

“I hit a boy.” I said in horror as I jumped out of the car. I had my gun ready for any zombies coming toward us as I went over to check him.

Everett:

I stirred and opened my eyes, sitting up to look around sleepily before peeking into the back. "Wha'....what happened?" I asked before looking ahead to watch Aiden kneel down next to a body.

Kate:

“He hit someone.” I said seriously, holding Elijah close to my body as he settled and got quiet. Emily opened her door. “No don’t, stay here, let them handle it.” I told her quickly, reaching out to grab her arm. She closed the door, looking out the windshield with wide eyes.

Everett:

"I'll be back." I got out immediately, jogging over to kneel down beside Aiden. I moved into medic mode immediately, my hands brushing over the boys body to feel for anything broken. Not finding any I gingerly felt around the guys head after removing his cap. I found a small bump but otherwise I felt fine moving him. It was then that I recognized the figure. It was the guy from the previous day.

Aiden:

I was trying to keep the panic under control. “Can we get him into the car? They’re coming.” I said hurriedly. There were several zombies moving down the street toward us, no doubt drawn by the noise of the squealing tires.

"Yes, he can be moved." I said, kneeling down to pick him up. I considered a moment before setting him up carefully in the front seat before I climbed into the back and basically sat on Emily.

Kate:

I held onto Elijah tightly as Aiden started driving again. “Where are we supposed to go?” I asked looking at the boy in the front seat. “I don’t know,” he said, “but we can’t stay here.”

"Anywhere we might be able to hold up in. But we need to check it entirely to make sure it is secure and zombie free." I said with a small nod as I looked towards the front seat.

Kate:

Aiden found a residential street with massive houses. “I’m trying to find a smaller building… I thought there would be one down this way…” He explained. “That one.” I told him, pointing to a smaller house with a fence around it. It might’ve kept the zombies out. He pulled to a stop in front of it.

“Someone needs to stay in the car with him, what if he wakes up, and tries to get away? He’d be killed instantly.” Aiden said.

I let out a soft breath. On one hand I wanted to stay to take care of Ari, but at the same time...I wanted to make sure that the house was safe for everyone.
