Perfect School

Jonah:

I was satisfied with that answer. What more could I expect from her? This was the most emotion I had received from her since the day she showed up. “I won’t disappoint.” I told her and drained the rest of the water she had brought for me.

"What are your thoughts on it?" I asked as the seconds ticked by growing into minutes. I didn't have my eyes on him as I asked, and I fiddled with my half empty bottle.

Jonah:

"I think its a great opportunity to learn what I need to. Besides I'll be working with the most talented person here." I smiled, watching her as I spoke. "I would have nothing if it weren't for this school, and now I have a chance to make more of myself, even if it costs me."

"You are an orphan?" I asked my eyes flicking to his before they moved to Ben and yet another teacher for me. I finished the rest of the water and left the bottle on Ben's chair as I moved to stand beside Jonah.

"Well you two, this is your teacher for today. Learn well, I'll be reporting the progress to the boss." Ben said as he moved past us.

Jonah:

I didn’t answer her when she asked if I was an orphan, I was glad for the interruption. It wasn’t something I liked to think about.

The training felt nice, I was able to keep up despite it being on a much higher level than our classes. By the end I was sweaty and my ribs were aching, but I felt good and upbeat. IU thanked the teacher for the class when we were dismissed and told Kira I would meet her for Dinner in the cafeteria after cleaning up.

I wiped off my face with a bandanna and nodded. "Welcome to my world Jonah." I called do him as I walked beside him just as sweaty. I said before waving over my shoulder as I went towards the girls locker room.

Jonah:

I thought about Kira as I showered and dressed in fresh clothes. She seemed to be warming up, to me at least. I was pleased about that. I knew I was more than just interested in her now. And with the way she was with me made me think that there could be something on her side as well.

The cafeteria was empty when I arrived. It was more relaxed during the break, which meant students could come in whenever they wanted for dinner, and they didn’t have a time limit.

I couldn't help but think about Jonah. He was strong, fast, smart. If it had been him in my place he would have been a force of nature to contend with. Marie would like him, definitely like him. Not only that, but Jonah was growing into an attractive man. With the skills behind it...Marie could champion Jonah and could bring even more things under her control.

I closed my eyes and tilted my face into the spray of the water, lingering still. "Is this what it means to feel Jealous?"

Jonah:

I waited a couple minutes for Kira to arrive before deciding to start without her. I would seem silly to her if I waited, I thought. I ordered, and retrieved my tray of food. I sat down at my usual table, the one I would have shared with Emily, Kyra, Andrew, and usually a few others including, Dayo, Akiko, and Darla. Dayo was still at the school, but I didn’t expect him to be joining my table now that the others were gone.

Kira:

I finished my shower and dressed in a simple shirt and a pair of shorts. "What am I doing..." I murmured softly with a hand tugging at my hair. I shook my head to clear my thoughts before heading towards the dining hall.

Paublo:

I grew hungry while laying on my bed and tinkering around with the laptop every student had been given, so I left the laptop behind and headed off towards the grub.

Jonah:

I started in alone. It was oddly peaceful in the empty room with only the soft clinks coming from the cook in the kitchen. I wish I had my book to read, I wondered if Kira had decided not to join me after all. Maybe she had different feelings about training now that it was done. I hoped that wasn't the case.

Kira:

I entered into the room, moving past Jonah without a word to get my food and medicine. Once I had it I joined him at the table, sitting beside him though I kept some space between us.

Jonah:

My eyes grazed over her and I made no attempt to be discrete. "How did I do?" I asked after a long moment of silence, waiting for her to be the first to speak. Was she trying to keep me at a distance? I din't know why she would want that unless she was resentful that I had invaded her training.

"Better than expected, but you have much to learn still. You exagarate your motions too much. You move parts of you that you shouldn't and ignore others. But...not bad for your first time." I said around a spoonful of yogurt.

Jonah:

I nodded, that was the best praise I could hope to get from her. "I hope I'm not an imposition for you." I said softly, toying with a carrot stick.

"Why would you be? I already stated how I felt about this relationship. Marie will be glad to have someone like you under her. Most importantly because you do not have the limitations I have. Your one problem is that you were trained in a setting like this. You being around doesn't impact me, it only serves to give me something to strive after, to better myself. No more no less." I shrugged and grabbed the cup full of murky black liquid.

Jonah:

“Marie,” I said the name of her patron lightly. She had never mentioned her by name before. “What is she like if you don’t mind me asking? And how did you come to be under her control?” I tilted my head as I asked her, hoping to loosen her up and get her talking.

"My...our patron is...different. A leader among assassins is not uncommon. Corporations, mobs, mafias. But she has made something a bit different and it all goes back to her. She owns an entire city, she controls thousands of people and all vie for her approval. Ben is one of her top men. But he like the rest of her top all think they are closer to her than the rest." I said after downing the liquid and grimacing at the taste. "As for how I came under her control, you will have to ask her." I shrugged and rolled my wrist. "I am an orphan too, my parents didn't want me I guess and she raised me. That is all I know."

Jonah:

I nodded. “We’re lucky to have made it to this.” I murmured then smiled at her. “I’m honored to be training with you, Kira. Thank you for your part in that.”

I looked at him, another spoonful of yogurt in my mouth. I had left the spoon in my mouth and the only thing that happened was a slight twitch of the corner of my mouth. I nodded to him before removing the spoon slowly. I swallowed before responding as I went for another bite of yogurt. "I had no part in it. It was more luck, or...whatever reason you had to come into the gym when you did." I shrugged and poked my tongue out to lick the spoon clean of the yogurt.

Jonah:

“It was your at suggestion that he had us spar. He could have easily just sent me away without a second thought.” I told her gratefully.

"My choices were you, or the unconscious drivel on the ground. Between the two I had only one natural choice." I stated looking up as the door to the dining hall was pushed open and Paublo made his way in.

Jonah:

I smiled warmly at that then looked over to Pablo. “Hey there.” I called to him, waving him over once he had his food.

Paublo: I stopped in surprise when I saw the pair of them sitting together and chatting. But after getting my food I joined them sitting across from my closest friend and the girl who had changed everything. "Hey. You two are looking pretty good today."

Jonah:

“Not bad yourself.” I nodded to him. “Though my ribs are pretty sore thanks to both of you.” I grinned at him.
