Perfect School

Jonah:

I stood up just enough away that she couldn't kick me. “Kira, you already do.” I said with a mischievous grin before darting forward to grasp her ankle and yank her into the water.

Confusion flitted across my face at his words before I sucked in a breath as his hand closed around my ankle. Down into the water I went, submerging fully by his pull. I lashed out with my other foot, hoping to connect with some soft part of him.

Jonah:

I gave an “umph” at her kick and quickly released her. My task was fulfilled and no I fled from her wrath, deeper into the water.

I glared after him as I surfaced, but I didn't give chase. Instead I began to swim, deciding to enjoy my time though I had been forced into it.

Jonah:

Once I realized she was not after my I floated to the surface on my back. I closed my eyes, relaxing in the morning sun.

I wanted to float, but I refused to just because of what I was wearing. So I ended up climbing back up onto the docks after a few minutes of swimming. I laid out in the sun, happily laying across his tanktop which I already planned on taking and wearing on our way back.

Jonah:

I swam leisurely back to the dock and pulled myself out of the water. My eyes lingered on Kira's form before I laid out next to her. “I couldn't resist, you know that.” I said with eyes closed.

"I figured. I'm claiming your tank top for the walk back." I left no room for arguement in my tone. I'd take it with me back into the water if I had too. The sun felt wonderful on my back, and idly I wished I could lay out under the sun with nothing on. I didn't tan quickly or well, tending to go red first before I ever gained a different color, but as I stretched languidly I still desired that chance at freedom and warmth.

Jonah:

“I guess that is a small price to pay.” I turned my face to squint at her in the sunlight. I studied her birth mark, as it was especially visible in the sunlight.

My face was towards him with my eyes closed. I took slow even breaths and slowly I felt his gaze, my eyes opening to watch his face and the expression he wore.

Jonah:

My eyes met hers. “You'll burn if we don't head back soon.” I told her. She was much more pale than I was. “We could go get early lunch?” I suggested.

I sighed softly and nodded. Lazily I got to my feet, taking his tanktop with me. I only bothered to put it on after I was fully on my feet. Immediately I was surrounded by his scent which was something I had become familiar with due to the close nature we'd come to be in. It was hard not to after all the spars we had gone through together.

Jonah:

I smirked at her wearing my clothing, though her sports bra had dried enough that nothing was visible, beyond evidence of her being cold. “You think anyone will wonder about us? Me coming back half naked as it is?” I wiggled my eyebrows at her playfully.

I rolled my eyes at him. "They can think what they will. I know and you know. What more matters?" I ran my fingers through my short hair, taming it from its watery mess.

Jonah:

“I suppose it doesn't.” I shrugged taking up a jogging pace again. The breeze picked up and quickly dried my shorts and my hair.

I jogged after him, keeping pace beside him easily enough. It was a bit harder to run, my muscles sleepy from their sunlit basking but I pushed on anyway. Soon enough we made it back to the cabin and I announced my intention to shower before we went for an early lunch like he'd suggested. I made a quick trip to my room before going into the shower.

Jonah:

I sat on the floor rather than the couch so as to not get it dirty, waiting my turn in the shower. I grabbed the remote and flicked through the TV channels, something I very rarely did.

I lingered in the shower, the jog, swim, and bask in the sun making me slow. After the shower I gathered up my clothes and his tanktop bringing them back into my room with only a towel wrapped around my form. I changed in my room, pulling on pants and a loose shirt. Sandles were slipped on for my feet before I returned to the living room and laid down across the couch. "Your turn then we can go eat."

Jonah:

While flipping through the channels I came upon a crime show, CSI or something. I paused on it, a crease forming between my brows as I watched. I hardly noticed Kira when she came out.

With his position I started to reach out to grab his hair but stopped my hand. I watched him for a moment then quietly climbed over the back of the couch and slipped out the front door. With my hands clasped idly behind my back I made my way towards the main building with the intention of getting us food to bring back.

Jonah:

At the commercial break I turned the TV off and went to take a shower. I took a long shower scrubbing the grime from the lake off my skin dully. Kira had left already, I knew that but for once I felt no desire to follow her. Once I finished in the shower I dressed in sweat pants and laid on my bed, my room door wide open.

I ordered taco's and got them styled to my liking. Guac, cheese, lettuce, onion, and tomatoes along with the diced steak and peppers. Along with it I ordered chips and chunky salsa and topped it all off with a singular parfait for myself. I included along with it two bottles of sparkling juice. With the meal in hand I returned to the cottage. I set out everything on the coffee table before grabbing one of the glass bottles of juice. I spotted the open door and peeked inside to see Jonah on the bed. I tossed the ice cold bottle underhanded to make it land and roll into his side. I didn't bother to linger, instead returning to the living room where I laid across the couch with my torso propped up on some pillows. I nibbled absently at a taco while I gazed out the window.

Jonah:

I grabbed the bottle with a hiss and propped myself up on my elbows to read it. After a minute of two I went out to sit with her, setting the bottle in the center of the table. I looked over the food disinterestedly and finally picking up a taco. After the first bite I flicked a few of the tomatoes of in distaste, without saying a word to her.

I glanced across the couch at him, finishing my fist taco. I went for the second, pausing after the first bite to nibble along the side of a chip as my gaze returned out the window.

Jonah:

I had a few more bites then set the remainder of the taco down. I leaned back into the couch feeling subdued, and no appetite to finish the food she brought.
