University Roommates (Restart)

Emily:
I tried to keep quiet during the movie, I really did. But he knew before he decided to come that I would talk through it, so really, its his fault. I only got shushed once.

Ashton:


I didn't mind when she talked through movies at home, but in the theater, I felt like others were judging. When she got shushed I twisted in my chair to squint at the person even though I knew Emily was the one in the wrong. The woman had her two children with her, one of which had a passion for bouncing in his seat, so she really had no room to talk.

When the movie was over I couldn't help but feel relieved. We walked out of the theater into the dark parking lot. "It's always weird when the sun sets while you're inside watching a movie," I commented with my hands in my pockests.

Emily:
I looked up at the sky and nodded in agreement. I wrapped my arms around myself as it was cooler than it was when we walked into the theater. "Did you want to get something to eat now?" I asked, feeling a little hungry.

Ashton:

"A bartender at the club I work at can get us free drinks. They serve some food there too. How does that sound?" I asked her. The bartender had been trying to get me to come in on one of my days off for a while now, but I had been preoccupied with Tasha and Emily for the past week. "We would probably have to swing by the house to change first though," I added.

Emily:
"Sounds good," I said, looking down at my outfit. "Is this is a classy place?" I asked, wondering how I should dress. I knew he had gotten a job but I didn't know which bar it was.

Ashton:

"Not super classy. Just a bit more than jeans," I said as I eyed her jean and hoodie ensemble. "You don't have to wear a fancy dress or anything, slacks and a blouse would do." We reached the car and I walked her to the door and opened it for her.

Emily:
I smiled at him and hopped in the car. "Thanks." I said softly, a little surprised at the gesture. I tried to mentally shuffle through my closet to find some quickly to wear and I figured this blue top I had would work well with a pair of tight black pants.

Ashton:

When we got home I went to change as well, though my pants were already dark. I put on a button up shirt and slicked my hair back lightly before going into the living room to wait for Emily. I snacked on a bag of chips while I waited.

Emily:
I made quick work of grabbing the clothes I wanted to wear and slipped on a blue top and tight black pants. The top was a little snugger than I remembered it being but I slipped on a pair of heels and fluffed my hair anyway. The heels weren't very high, but enough to look dressy. I put on a bit of makeup and checked myself out in the mirror one last time before meeting Ash in the living room. "Ready?" I asked, shoving some money and my glasses in a small purse in case I needed them.

Ashton:

For a moment I was silent and unmoving as I stared blatantly at her body. She was was stunning, heart-stopping even. I recovered after a moment when I mentally shook myself. "Ium, mhmm," I muttered nonsensically, grabbing the keys from the counter where I had left them.

Emily:
I looked up from my purse just in time to see him grab the keys and I followed him to the door. I paused next to him and reached up to mess his hair up, just a little. It was slicked back too perfectly "That looks better," I smiled. Then I left the house and headed for the car.

Ashton:

I touched my hair as I followed her, trying to keep my eyes off the way her pants hugged her curves from behind. I I had almost never seen her dressed in anything other than sweatpants and t-shirts for more than five minutes when she was leaving or arriving home. I couldn't get enough of her in that outfit. For the ten minutes it took to get to the bar, I thankfully was able to keep my eyes off her and on the road. I took her into the back entrance that employees used which lead straight into the bar.

"Ash! You made it! Finally." The bartender, Alicia, lit up when she saw me. A second later her eyes fell on Emily and her smile switched to a more artificial one. I introduced them and found a couple seats for us. I ordered a beer and handed Emily a menu for food.

Emily:
I hopped up on the stool and started gazing at the menu while also looking around the bar. The bartender certainly seemed happy to see Ash. I finally decided on a simple burger and ordered myself a beer while I waited. "Did you wanted anything to eat?" I asked, tilting the menu towards Ash. In the dim light of the club, I had to lean a little closer to see him, especially since things were slightly burry without my glasses on.

Ashton:

With the way she was leaning, I had a perfect view of cleavage. I looked in her eyes then at the menu. "Nah, I'm good. I snacked at the house, and I filled up on most of the popcorn at the theater." I sipped my beer when Alicia slid it over to me. "I'll probably steal a couple of your fries though, they're really good here," I said with a small grin to Emily.

Emily:
I smiled back and shook my head. "We'll see if I let you," I teased, smiling at Alicia when she put my drink down in front of me. I looked around the club again. It was a really nice place. The music was cool, people were dancing, drinking, having a good time.

Ashton:

When Alicia brought out the burger, she stuck around to chat. "So how long have you two been dating?" She asked, leaning over the bar.

"We aren't. We're roommates," I answered quickly.

"Oh, so this is your sister?"

Emily:
I grabbed a fry and shook my head. "No, I'm his sisters best friend," I clarified, trying to give her the benefit of the doubt. But why would he have introduced me as his roommate if we were siblings? It kinda seemed like she didn't like me. But she was just trying to get to know me. I took a long sip of my drink.

Ashton:

She stayed and kept up a steady flow of small talk with the two of us. I got bored with the conversation pretty quickly. It wasn't like Emily talking through movies, she genuinely had interesting comments. Alicia didn't seem like the kind of person who had much going on upstairs.

"I'll be right back," I muttered to Emily and excused myself. The bouncer at the front was waving at me to come over.


Alicia leaned closer over the bar when Ashton left. "So, Emily, I've gotta ask you a question," she said in a gossipy tone. "Is he gay? Some of the other bartenders seem to think so."

Emily:
I almost choked on a fry and then barely concealed a smirk. "You guys think he's gay?" I asked. I decided it was too good of an opportunity to pass up. I leaned in like I had a juicy secret. "I don't know for sure and don't tell him I told you...but he's really into Harry Potter. Like really into him," I said with a mock serious tone.

"Oh." Alicia looked down at the counter in disappointment. Her lips took on a small pout. "I guess it makes sense. He tends to avoid the girls here and he only really talks to me when I approach him." She looked off to where Ashton was talking to the bouncer on shift. He didn't seem interested in the men that worked there either, but in her mind, it was enough that he had gone to talk to the guy instead of talking to her.

Emily:
"Well he's a little shy..." I said, shrugging as I looked over at him. For how long did he plan on leaving me alone with a girl who was clearly crushing on him?

Ashton:

I saw Emily looking at me from the bar. I only came back over when Alicia had lost interest in talking to her. Thankfully it got busy enough that she was preoccupied with customers after that to pay much attention to us other than to refill our drinks.

Emily:
When he came back, I twisted around in my seat and smirked at him. "They all think you're gay," I told him, letting my amusement show through.

Ashton:

I raised my eyebrows and turned to take a sip of my beer. "Is that so? And you don't think that's true?" I asked, deciding to mess with her. As far as I could remember, I had never given her any indication otherwise.

Emily:
I paused with my beer halfway to my lips. Could I have been that wrong? Was he actually gay? "Uh. I mean- I don't actually-" I kept cutting myself off. "If you are, I'm totally cool with it!" I finally said, trying to sound upbeat. But for some reason, the thought that he could be gay made my heart sink.
