Tabitha:

I made my way to Sphinx’s room after class. His shirt and sweat shirt were fresh and clean in my backpack, I was going to return them. I knocked on his door and waited. After a moment I knocked again but he didn’t answer. I sighed and turned to walk away thinking he probably wasn’t out of class yet. As I went down the hall a door opened to my left. “Were you looking for Sphinx?” Velaric, his vampire friend leaned out of the door way. I fought the urge to shy into the wall. “Yes, do you know where he is? I need to give him back his sweat shirt.” I said calmly. Velaric stepped out. He looked paler than usual, and he had circles under his eyes and- he smiled at me and suddenly I didn’t see anything off about him. He stepped closer to me and the need to get away vanished. “Hand it to me, I’ll leave it in his room, I need to get something out of there anyway.” He held his hand out. “Uh… Okay.” I said slowly as I reached into my bag. My arm brushed his hand. He was so cold.. He gripped my arm firmly. Fear shot through me and yet my body was frozen, almost drawn to him.. I couldn’t get away. My mind was going blank screaming at me to move and yet telling me to let him..

Velaric:

I backed her up until her back bumped the wall. I knew I shouldn’t… But I was so tired, and so thirsty.. I hadn’t eaten in… days… And my mind was playing tricks on me, telling me to do things I knew I should… But here this girl was, so warm, and fresh. Just a few drops wouldn’t hurt her… I leaned down brushing my lips against her jaw line. Her breath caught in such a way that made my throat burn. “I don’t- I-“ She stammered but she want saying stop… I knew the effect I had on other creatures, especially when I was this in need of blood. I tilted her face to the side and pressed my lips to her neck before sinking my teeth into her skin. She gasped and struggled, she even put her hand flat on my chest trying to push me away. The blood was flowing down my throat though, and it was so fresh and clean. I couldn’t stop… I was too hungry. A few drops weren’t enough..
And then the taste changed, it was almost a shock, or a burn, like sunlight. I jerked back from her, my mind suddenly clear and now utterly horrified. “Oh my god…” I whispered supporting her as she slumped. I hadn’t taken that much. She shouldn’t be passing out.. She moaned. How could I have done this? I had gone so long without screwing up.. And not only had I taken someone’s blood without asking, but she was Sphinx’s friend.. My only friend. He would have been mad at me regardless of who I had bitten, but her… he was going to kill me.
I scooped her up in my arms and carried her to his room. I broke the handle to unlock it and took her inside. I set her on the couch then took a step back. Why was she not conscious? I took her pulse. She had plenty of blood left to function just fine. But she was just still… I cursed and pulled up a chair to watch her, make sure she woke up.

Sphinx:

I stretched absently before getting to my feet. I enjoyed resting in the park but I figured it was time to head home. I started a light jog towards home, humming softly. I realized as I let my mind wander that I still had my shirt and sweatshirt over at Tabitha's place. I smiled to myself, thinking about going over in a bit once I changed out of my clothes and showered.

Velaric:

Her breathing was erratic and shallow. Her eyes were moving rapidly behind her eyelids. Something was clearly wrong. Biting her couldn’t have done this… This had never happened. There was something already wrong with her, there had to be. I leaned back in the chair. Her blood wasn’t even sitting well with me. Maybe she was sick.. I touched her forehead. Her skit was ice cold in spots and burning in others. I was officially freaked out. If she died, I would be blamed, and they would likely stake me or tie me out in the sun. I went to get the room phone to call Sphinx. I knew he would be angry, but I needed the help.

SPhinx:

I heard my phone ring as I turned the corner to head towards my dorm. I slowed down and pulled out my phone. "Hello?" I asked curiously.

Velaric:

“You need to come back to your place right now. That girl you like so much? There’s something wrong with her. Seriously wrong. I’ve never seen anything like this.” I told him quickly with my eyes on the girl.

Sphinx:

I sprinted as fast as I could, vaulting over the destroyed door to slide to a halt next to Varric as I looked down at Tabitha. I took in her state before my eyes settled in on her neck and the familiar bite marks there. My hand holding the phone clenched when I released my hand, small pieces of the phone rained down. I moved over and knelt next to her, pressing my ear over her heart.

Velaric:

I watched him, feeling sick, and ashamed, and horrified. He was never going to forgive me if she didn’t live. I crossed my arms and waited.

Tabitha:

I was stuck in horrible nightmarish dreams. I couldn’t get the sick images out of my head until I felt a soft pressure on my chest. My heart beat went from sluggish to erratic. My eyelashes fluttered slightly.

I listened to her heart beat and hearing it quicken I put one hand on her sternum the other on her forehead and concentrated pouring my power into her, the energy automatically doing what her body needed to help itself.

Tabitha:

I moaned and opened my eyes fully. “What? Sphinx? What are you doing?” I asked breathlessly looking all around the room in confusion.

I didn't stop pouring energy in for a bit even after she woke up. When I finally opened my eyes I stroked her forehead and cheek gently. "You had an accident." I said softly to her, looking at her tenderly.

Tabitha:

I blinked at him. I felt funny in a multitude of ways. I felt energized, yet sick. And I felt numbed, and sore. And my mind was still flashing through awful images in my head. I closed my eyes for a moment then opened them to look at Sphinx. “An accident?” I asked at the same time my fingers brushed over my neck.

I nodded. "Yeah, rest, I need to take care of something." I said getting to my feet before turning to look at Varric. My eyes flashed giving a single command in them. To follow me. I walked towards my bedroom, where I stood looking at the floor waiting for him.

Velaric:

I followed him apprehensively. I wasn’t scared of him. I was nervous about what he would say, that he wouldn’t want me around. That I’d lose my only true friend over a mistake that happened so quickly.

Sphinx:

I kept my eyes on the floor, my breathing deep and even. The only hint of my feelings were my hands clenched over my crossed arms. I didn't say anything waiting for him to explain.

Velaric:

“I didn’t have any blood. For days I didn’t eat. I meant to.. But I was focusing on school. And then I skipped this morning and I was stuck in my room. I was going to come here, I know you keep blood for me sometimes.. And there she was. I swear I didn’t mean to.. It just happened. I couldn’t even think straight. The need for blood just took over.” I told him in a whisper. “But this shouldn’t have happened. She should have been okay after I stopped.”

Sphinx:

I held up a hand my eyes flashing dangerously at him. "You are an idiot. The second you started feeling hungry you should have come here. The blood in the fridge isn't for emergencies, its to keep you sane. I nearly lost an arm the last time you lost control. And the last time you lost control you hadn't fed for months. Why now, why with her." I said my voice staying the same pitch through out.

Velaric:

“This time I was also sleep deprived… and…” I trialed off knowing he wouldn’t want to hear it. It would only make him angrier. “There is something wrong with her.” I whispered, looking at the floor.

Sphinx:

"I get that, but that is no excuse...and I know she is sick..." I said my voice breaking a bit. "I dont know what to do about you Varric...You hurt possibly the one girl I have ever felt this way for...and..." I stopped and sighed running a hand through my hair. "Come here." I said gesturing tiredly.

Velaric:

I hesitated but moved closer to him, looking at him questioningly. I couldn’t really defend myself, I knew I had done wrong.

My hand flashed out, my fist connecting with his jaw. I pulled the punch so as to not kill him. I walked over to where he was on the ground and put a hand to his forehead and another to his sternum. I started boiling away Tabitha's blood, to help him. He didn't look very well, and I guessed it was her blood once it was all gone. I closed my eyes and in his hands a bottle full of his favorite blood type. "Your my closest friend and like a brother Varric...do something like this again and I will have to lose the only brother I have been close too."

Velaric:

I sat up on my elbows and look at him. “I’m sorry. You know I would never mean to hurt you.” I said quietly before getting up to leave.

Tabitha:

I stared at the wall watching strange scenes play out. I could see myself doing things. Bad things. Things that turned my stomach. I touched my forehead trying to make it stop.

Sphinx:

"You leave before your better and I will go hunting. With stakes." I said exiting the room throwing a tired but good natured smile at him. I went back to the couch and Tabitha, kneeling next to her my ears twitching in worry.

Tabitha:

I opened my eyes to look at Sphinx, but they were very watery. “I need… to call my sister.” I breathed out.
