Perfect Assassins

"Your beautiful, kind, and everyone likes you..." I wrote my expression unhappy though also wistful.

Krissy:

I smiled softly. “You have all of those qualities too, Eb. Just look at you, you’re gorgeous in that dress. And even if you can’t remember it, everyone likes you.” I said reaching out to squeeze her shoulder lightly in encouragement.

I looked up at her a little bit of hope in my eyes. "Really?" I wrote before I glanced over at the others and my hope died a bit. "Will I ever find a guy like Michael or Kyle? Have I ever had one like that?"

Krissy:

I felt a little twinge of sadness at her question. If she didn’t remember should I tell her? Wouldn’t that just bring back the pain? “I don’t know Ebony...” I said then glanced over at my brother and the man I was in love with. “Guys like that are hard to come by.” I said fondly. “But I’m sure you’ll find the right person.” I glanced at Eric who was casually watching us. He held my gaze for a moment then looked away.

Ebony:

I followed her gaze and looked down again. She said I was beautiful, but so far all the guys had eyes only on her and Lexi. I forced a smile before shooing her off with a hand to go to Michael.

Krissy:

I sighed softly. She didn’t want to believe me. Maybe she just needed time to sort out who she was.. I wished Seth could have been here, he had a way with her, he had been very kind and patent. I was worried that Eric would be the opposite.

Ebony:

I watched the patrons of the restaurant absently, my thoughts elsewhere. I was day dreaming about a prince coming to whisk my heart away, and showing me what made Lexi and Krissy so happy.

"I know. I'm sorry. I'll try to stay more focused," Lexi replied, smiling gently as she danced with Kyle. He was all she needed and all she wanted.

Kyle:

“You don’t have to apologize. What is bothering you baby?” I asked slowing the pace of our dancing.

Krissy:

I passed Eric on my way to Michael. “Dance with me.” He said, stepping in my path. I glanced up to his face. “No Eric, get out of my way.” I said in exasperation. “Why not? You can’t even dance with me? You like dancing.” He reached for my hand but I grabbed his wrist quickly and squeezed where I had sliced it the night before. “I don’t want to dance with you. I’m tired of you being like this, go dance with Ebony.” I said shortly throwing his hand back at him.

Ebony:

I observed the act quietly, looking down again at the note pad. She was the one that guys had their eyes on. With her and Lexi, I wasn't going to be noticed. But that was okay, I thought to myself, they were happy and that is what mattered.

Krissy:

Lexi eventually had to sit down to rest and Kyle came to drag me out onto the dance floor. It was later in the evening and the place had filled up a bit. I was trying to keep my eyes on everybody but it was hard while I was dancing. I finally gave up and focused on having fun with my brother, we hadn’t done anything like this in a while after all. “Mr. O’Shay?” I heard a voice ask. My head snapped around to see a blond woman looking past me to Kyle. He eyed her cautiously but she stepped closer abruptly. My hand went to my hip and gripped my knife and the same time hers lashed out quicker than Kyle could block. Silver sliced across his chest in a blur and she was turning to leave. I stepped in her way and stabbed her in the belly, she slashed at my throat but I dogged backward. My focus was single minded in going after her but she disappeared into the dancing crowed and Kyle had his hand securely on my wrist. I turned back to him once she was out of sight. “Kyle, are you okay? How bad? Let me see.” I made to pull his shirt aside so I could see the cut but he swatted my hand and zipped his jacket taking it out of my sight. “It’s fine. Maybe we should be going..” He pulled me along trhoguh the crowed. I looked down at my bloody knife, surely I had done enough damage to seriously wound her.

Ebony:

I fiddled with the end of my dress, with one hand, the other busy as I sketched absently on the notepad. Eric was a few chairs away, but he was glowering at everyone who came close, so people stopped coming. I hoped that someone would ask me to dance, but with Eric not going to and how he was glaring at everything, no one would come over. Michael had gotten a phone call and was chatting away cheerfully in the corner, a smile on his face. He was talking about some kind of game I figured. The name he used escaped me, but I could remember the game itself. It was a ball that you bounced and tried to pick up as many little pieces as possible. Though why he was talking about a game with someone, he was enjoying himself.

I sighed silently through my nose, my eyes glancing towards Lexi who was resting with her head on her arms, her face showing she was thinking about something and would be lost in what ever thoughts she was in. Kyle had taken Krissy out on the dance floor, though I still felt uncomfortable being near him. He hadn't been very nice to me when I woke up in bed that one day. I brushed it off and tipped back Erics hat a little so I could get a better view of the notepad as I continued to draw, my free hand resting on the table to help support the notepad to prevent its movement.

Krissy:

Kyle pulled me into a dim little corner before we reached our group. “Don’t say anything about this. No need to alarm anyone.” He said quietly. My eyes narrowed. “No need to alarm them that someone knows where we are?” I crossed my arms. “I’m sure many people know where we are. We’re never off the radar, we’re never safe.” My brother sighed. I knew he was right though, it was the way it had always been. “Lexi will see the cut, you’ll have to tell her.” I said trying to look past him to the others but he blocked my way. “I’ll tell her later.” He crossed his arms. I stared at the front of his jacket. “Let me see it, let me see the cut.” I said. “No.” Kyle let me see it! It needs care, what if you need stitches?” I said trying to pull his arms away so I could unzip his jacket. He laughed amused by my effort. I couldn’t budge his arms. I gave up with an annoyed huff. He grabbed my wrist. “Let’s get back to the rest.” He dragged me along behind him again through the mash of people. This time I kept my hand on my knife.
I grabbed my jacket off the chair in between Ebony and Eric. Eric looked up at me “What happened to your neck?” He asked instantly. Puzzled, I touched my neck. When I pulled it back It had a little smear of blood. I mentally cursed and met Kyle’s eyes. He shrugged it off and flopped into the chair next to Lexi.

Ebony:

I didn't bother looking up when Kyle and Krissy came back. They would tell me if anything interesting was happening. I was learning that it was easier to just nod your head and do what you were told. It was easier than saying no with all of them. I sighed through my nose again, glancing up at Krissy before going back to drawing. I was bored, and a little hungry. We had been here for a while and had yet to order food, as no one really bothered to go get a server. After all we pretty much continuously had two people on the dance floor.

Lexi barely looked up when Kyle flopped into the chair next to her and it was several moments before she realized he was even there. "Oh, hey, baby," she said, still distracted but her eyes refocused and she smiled at him with those bright blue eyes of hers. She grinned and leaned in, kissing his chin gently. "Where'd you go?"

Kyle:

I smiled putting my arm around her shoulders. “Dancing with Krissy. I’m starved, lets get something to eat.” I waved down a waiter. She handed out menus to everyone .

Krissy:

I went to the bathroom and dabbed the blood off my neck before returning to the table. I sat on the other side of Ebony to ward off Eric’s questions.

I took the menu with a small smile, though it faded some what as my tummy rumbled quietly. And it faded all together when I could feel Eric's eyes on me and I closed my own wincing inside. I could tell with out even looking that he wasn't looking at me, he was trying to look through me to watch Krissy. I really had no idea of what to do about Eric, one second he seemed so interested in me, the next it was all Krissy. The latter was happening a lot more than I really wanted.

Michael:

I moved over to Krissy, hugging her from behind as I pressed my phone to her ear. I smiled softly as I read over the menu over her shoulder as I heard Jack's cheerful voice call out over the phone. "Krissy! How is one of my favorite girls? What have you been up to? Is your bump showing? If it is, can I come and touch it? Please?"

Eric:

I settled back in my chair brooding. Krissy had been so much better before Michael had gotten back, now she would have practically nothing to do with me. Just one more reason to despise Michael.

Krissy:

I groaned softly and put a hand on my forehead, silently cursing him. “No.” I said flatly to Jack. I wasn’t showing, not really, especially not with clothes on. And there was no way anyone was going to touch my belly without the very serious risk of losing their hand, with the possible exception of Michael.

Jack:

"Aw, come on, please? I could bring your favorite treat!" I begged, typing away on a computer as I spoke with her. "I can do it behind a closed door so no one can see! Or like, I could spirit you away to a far off island, do it, then wait for us to be rescued, cause I don't know how to fly and crashing is the only way I know how to get to deserted islands..."

Krissy:

“Ha! No Jack. I am not letting you touch my belly, not ever. Not on a deserted island, not behind a door. Not ever.” I muttered into the phone.

"But Krissy, we both know I will rub it anyway. I got your brother to give me a big hug. This is the moodiest and most brooding man since batman was created." I countered laughing softly.

Krissy:

“And you’re speaking to his sister sweetie. You don’t think I can be moody? Now?” I asked sweetly.

I sighed "Look, I survived giving your brother a kiss on the cheek. A very entertaining experience, one that I chalk up at stealing a bears fish from its mouth. But I digress, either you let me rub and touch your tummy on your own terms. Or I could simply tie you up in the living room and do it for all to see and enjoy. Your call darlin'."
