Perfect Assassins

Krissy:

My hand was unbudging on my knife. I gritted my teeth but didn’t move, I didn’t want to jolt the bed. “Ebony,” I said icily. “Get your hands off of me.”

I shook my head rapidly. I pointed to where she had the needle in her, then I pointed to Kyle. I made a thumbs up sign, then pointed to her wrist I had, and then made a motion that I would be staying right here.

Krissy:

I glared at her. “Ebony, if you don’t let go of me-“ I cut off when I heard the front door open. Moments later Eric was coming into the bedroom. His eyes got dark when he saw me next to Kyle. He didn’t comment just moved to Kyles side and dropped a bag into the chair.

I didn't let go of her wrist, feeling her pulse though I did look at the floor my vision blurring a bit with tears. Why couldn't I help!

Krissy:

Eric yanked my up off the bed. My head was spinning rapidly and I would have fallen if it weren’t for Eric’s hands on me. Everything seemed so fast and slow at the same time. My knife came up between Eric and me. “Don’t touch me!” I fought to hold onto my balance as Eric let go with a look of distain. I lowered my knife when he stepped back. He was acting calm but I could see the fury in his eyes. “God, Krissy. Do you have no sense of self value? Why are you always so eager to toss your life away? Even when you know there are other options?” He glared at me. “He’s my brother. If I want to drain every drop of blood I have for him, I can. Why are you to stop me? It’s my choice, not anyone else’s. It’s my life.” I spat back getting a little hysterical. He grabbed a blood bag and held it out to me. “Kyle needs it.” I said stubbornly. “Goddamnit Krissy, just take it. I got plenty. There are better ways to solve your problems than this.” He said with a quick glance at my belly. Anger flared in met. I glared at him as I snatched the blood bag and left the room.

Ebony:

I didn't move from the floor, having covered my ears a bit from their argument. I didn't want to look up at Eric, guessing what kind of look he would have on his face.

Eric:

I sighed and sunk into a chair. I watched Kyle breathing boredly. “So, I don’t suppose you drink?” I asked after a while.

Krissy:

I went to the library and flopped onto the sofa. I hung the blood bag up and attached it to my arm. I leaned back, closing my eyes as I felt tears slide down my cheeks.

Michael:

I moved into the library. Watching Krissy for several moments before moving over and just drawing her wordlessly into my arms.

Krissy:

I gave a soft surprised gasp when Michael hugged me, I hadn’t known he was there. I wound my arms around his neck and ducked my head so it was buried in his shoulder. My body shook with silent sobs as I tried to hold them in. “I’m sorry.” I mumbled into his shirt.

I shrugged, keeping my arms around her. "You have nothing to be sorry for." I said softly, rubbing her back.

Krissy:

“But,” I sniffled. “You’re not happy with me..” I took a couple short breaths while loosening my grip on him. I looked up at him, blinking the tears from my eyes.

I shrugged. "Does it matter?" I asked softly.

Krissy:

I stared into his eyes for a moment trying to see what he was thinking, but he was unreadable as always. I dropped my gaze and drew in a shaky breath. I was used to people yelling or snapping when they had a problem with me. Not indifference. This was almost worse.

Michael:

I rubbed her back gently before lifting her face by her chin so I could bring my lips to hers for a moment.

Krissy:

I sighed and turned my face away. “I don’t want you to be unhappy with me. I don’t want you to be unhappy because of me. That’s not how this is supposed to work.” I said quietly.

I shrugged again. "There is nothing I can do to change who you are. I will bear what ever you put on me."

Krissy:

I pulled away from him and sat back on the couch. I stared at the tube in my arm for a moment before speaking. “That makes it sound like you’re settling. I don’t want you to have to settle for something you don’t want.” I said into my lap. I didn’t like talking about this kind of thing, relationship stuff, and feelings.

Michael:

I shrugged again. "Once again. I can't change you, and trying will never work. So I am going to love you no matter what."

Krissy:

I pulled my knees up to my chest and hugged them. This was the first time things had been like this with us. I couldn’t remember a time when there had been a conflict like this since we had been together. How had I alienated all the people I loved most in one day? I wondered if Michael just felt obligated to be around me right now..

I lifted her face to look at me. "Look, yes I was upset, yes I was hurt. But it doesn't matter now. What matters is making sure you and your brother are okay. I love you Krissy. Never, ever forget that. There is still nothing in this world that I wouldn't do for you."

Krissy:

I blinked rapidly at the tears in my eyes. “I don’t even know what I did to make you so unhappy.” I mumbled miserably sniffling as I did so.

"You wouldn't let me help or protect you." I whispered in her ear, hugging her close to me. I held onto her tightly, still mindful of the blood entering her through her arm. "I don't like feeling helpless, and yet...you pushed me away when I wanted nothing more than to help you."

Krissy:

I sniffled more, trying not to cry harder. “I’m sorry…” I Whispered. “Michael.. I get like that sometimes… I can’t help it.” I said unhappily.

I nodded slowly. "And there is nothing I can do during those times but accept it." I said with yet another shrug.

Krissy:

“I’m sorry.” I sniffled and hid my face against him. I tried not to breathe to keep from crying which resulted in several short gasps.
