Boarding School for the Mythical

“Well no one has ever called me anything but Tabitha.” I said in annoyance. “Now get lost kid. I’ve got stuff to do.”

"So you are Tabitha...or...Not...erm...brain hurts..." I mumbled holding onto my head as I continued to follow her.

“least it’s your own.” I hissed bitterly.

I shook my head, "Oh no, there are many of me in my brain. But only because I have lived many lives."

I looked at her for the first time and slowed down. “What do you mean?” I asked, my tone losing a little bit of the hostility.

I gave a slight flourish as wings made of fire bloomed into existence on my back before fading slowly from sight. "I am the Phoenix. In my head I hold the memories of all my lives. Its rather crowded now."

I was a mesmerized momentarily by her wings but I shook out of it and started walking again. “Well lucky for you to have lived so much. It must be nice having memories of your own.” I hissed.

I grabbed her hand to stop her. "Nice? It hurts. Have you ever eaten so much that you have felt sick? Its the same feeling. Mine just wont go away, I wont let it."

“Don’t touch me!” I shoved her back. “It is nice, you’ve been able to live, so much so that you’re overflowing with life. I didn’t get that! I was sacrificed so that part of me could have a life. But I’m done with that, okay? I want to live now. I want my own memories. So leave me alone.” I snapped. It wasn’t really her I was mad at, she didn’t know me. I just wanted something different.

"I could let it all go you know...make the pain go away. But that would mean forgetting. I don't want to forget anyone I have met. I will hold you in my memory too you know." I said, stepping closer after her shove.

I turned away. “Whatever, I’m just another face. You don’t know me.” I muttered, walking away.

"I was there when they sealed you away." I said not moving from my spot.

“What?” I stopped. I turned to her. “What do you mean?” I demanded, my blood going cold in my veins.

I repeated slowly, "I was there when they sealed you. A horrible idea really, I was on the third side saying that we should contain you and work with you to help you function and not destroy everything. But of course they had to just seal you inside an innocent." I shook my head. "Better than killing you out right though right?"

I stared at her. “What are you talking about?” I demanded.

"You were quite a controversy miss." I said moving over to her and smiling.

“You know what’s in me…” I whispered, my mind racing.

"I do." I nodded.

“It’s ruined my life.” I spat.

"Did it?" I asked with a tilt of my head.

“Yes! As in I haven’t had a life because of it!” I snapped then let out a frustrated breath and started walking again. “I don’t want to see you again, stay away from me.” I called over my shoulder.

I tilted my head as I continued to follow her. "Your mad at me and not Sphinx?"

“Him too.” I hissed. “Just leave me alone, okay? It’s actually in your best interest if you know what I am.”

I narrowed my eyes at that. "I suppose I should leave you alone, and yes I know what is inside of you. Maybe I should take away the chance to hurt someone who cares about you and kill Sphinx."

I stopped again and turned. “What do you mean by that?” I demanded.
