Rina:

I couldn’t keep my eyes from landing on Talon. There was nothing else to really watch. He infuriated me, mainly because I didn’t understand him.

Talon:

When my time for watch came around, I got up and moved to a tree, sitting against it as I started to sharpen and clean my weapons. It gave my hands something to do, kept my hands and mind busy.

Rina:

I watched him get up and move over to the tree. I stared at the ground for a few minutes before making the decision to go over to him. “Maleen healed you then?” I asked lightly as I walked up.

Talon:

"I used what little magic I had left to fix it, she did the rest." I said quietly, not looking up at her. "Go ahead and go to sleep, I got the watch."

Maleen:

I shook my head. “I’m not that tired. You can go back to sleep. Even if I drift off, Aero will wake me up if need be.” Aero gave a soft little churp from my shoulder at his name.

"You need the sleep, I want to charge what little I can." I said softly, still not looking up. "But I won't push you."

Rina:

“May I?” I asked gesturing to the round close to him.

I nodded finally glancing up at her. "Sure." I turned my attention back to the long sword I had in my lap, peering down the edge of the blade, checking its sharpness. I couldn't use it to cut meat, but that was the point.

Rina:

I sat down close to him and watched him. “Where did you learn to fight like that?” I asked.

Talon:

"Experience, a lot of teachers, and practice." I said with a tiny smile coming to my lips. "Determination, and the willingness to learn are perhaps the best ways to get good at anything. Time is also a big factor. I had no choice in the time, but while growing up it was either I train, or I die."

Rina:

I looked him over for a minute. “I’m not unskilled. I don’t rely solely on my weapons. I’m better than most people in fact.” I said after a little while.

Talon:

"Are you better because you only have to ever make one hit? Or are you better because you have won every battle you have been in?" I asked softly.

Rina:

My eyes narrowed. “I’m better because I am more skilled and I don’t get wounded.” I said coolly

Talon:

"So the first one then." I said going back to my weapons. I didn't say anymore, or really do anything beyond sharpening my weapons.

Rina:

I scowled at him. “Who are you to assume who or how I am? You know nothing about me.” I spat.

"That is true, but I know how you fight." I said simply, my voice with out malice or really any emotion. "If you came here to yell at me and be angry at me, you shouldn't have come to sit."

Rina:

“I didn’t, I thought maybe if I came over here and talked to you maybe we might have some prayer of getting along. I was wrong clearly.” I got to my feet. “You don’t have to stay. We are perfectly capable of getting where we need to go. You aren’t needed.”

Talon:

"If I'm not needed, then should I mention the spy that is watching us from that small grove over that way? He has been there as long as we have, and has been sending messages by hawk." I never once looked up from the sword I was sharpening. I closed my eyes and let out a soft breath. "I do not wish to seem...cruel. But in my life, I have had to learn to judge people fast so as to better protect myself from them. My predictions are hardly wrong. You have a natural talent about you, but you rely too heavily on Aero and Iris when you fight. Once you lose them, you are handicapped." I set the sword aside and got to my feet. There was no light in my eyes, the light that you see when people move with a purpose. I moved and reacted like a machine. No emotion, no flaws, no life. I started sliding on my armor, preparing myself to leave.

Rina:

I watched him before getting up myself. I murmured softly to Aero and he flew up silently, disappearing into the darkness to go investigate the intruder.

I stretched a little before finishing strapping my armor on and gathering up all of my stuff. I shouldered my pack before turning to give a bow to Rina. I gestured to a bag I had left on the ground. "Food I collected. Keep it for the girls to eat or for yourself."

Rina:

I sighed softly. “Thank you very much. And good luck to you, wherever you’re headed.” I said quietly, nodding to him.

I shrugged a bit, resting a hand on my swords hilt. "Good luck yourself, and not many people thank someone after telling them to go away." I remarked. I nodded my head respectfully to her before moving past her, away from both her and the spy.

Rina:

Sat back down at the base of the tree and watched him go. I was joined a minute later by Aero who landed lightly on my hand. He had blood on his feet, so he had killed the spy.

I continued walking, never once looking back. I was used to this happening, though it usually didn't happen this fast.
