School of Thought

Krista:

I took one after her and returned it to my pocket. I took a lighter and lit hers for her then mine. I leaned against the car as I breathed in the smoke.

I wrinkled my nose a bit at the smell before copying her. I took about half a lungful before I started to cough uncontrollably.

Krista smirked and thumped her on the back a couple times. “It gets better.” She said.

Felicia:

My breathing wasn't easy to get under control, and my mouth tasted horrible. "But...its so awful..." I protested weakly, my eyes watering.

“That’s what I thought when I first tried it. You’ll be hooked after your second though.” Krista said with an encouraging smile.

Felicia:

"I'm not sure I want to be hooked...my lungs hurt now..." I said looking at the cigarette in my hand with a bit of disgust.

“Not really hooked.” Krista hurried to assure her. “More you’ll just like it. It helps with studying a lot.”

Felicia:

"But I really am only going to school to make Danny happy. I don't really want to go or study." I admitted to her, my eyes on the ground.

“Well you don’t have to go if you don’t want to. You could just tell him.” Krista said.

I shook my head rapidly, "He seemed pleased that I agreed to go. I won't make him unhappy with me!"

“Well then, you might as well make the best of it. She said with a wink. “Get the full college experience.”

Felicia:

"What is the full college experience?" I asked confused.

“You know, fun things. Parties and stuff. I’m going to one this weekend if you want to tag along.” Krista said.

Felicia:

I hesitated, glancing towards the house. I had never been on my own like that before...it sounded fun...but should I?

Krista flicked her cigarette aside and stepped on it then rubbed Felicia’s shoulder lightly. “Come on. You have to loosen up a little, you can’t be so sheltered.” She said.

Felicia:

I debated for a second longer before nodding slowly. "A-alright, I suppose I could come..."

“Awesome, I’ll pick you up at seven on Friday then.” She said. Just then a car pulled up and three girl’s and a boy piled out. “Hey Alice, What took you so long?” Krista called to the blond with long hair. “Megan had to bring her kid brother.” She gestured to the boy.

Felicia:

I had long since dropped the cigarette, forgetting about it even before it had left my fingers. It was actually near her feet instead of mine.

Nathanial climbed out of the backseat where he had been squished between two girls. He pulled his backpack and watched his feet. He didn’t want to be here, he wanted to stay home but his parents had kicked him and his older sister out of the house so they could have a business dinner uninterrupted.

Felicia:

My eyes went wide as I looked at the four who had just gotten out of the car. My eyes didn't even stay longer than a few seconds on the girls, it was the boy who had my attention. My ears were up, my tail was puffy. I stood there for several seconds before doing the only logical thing to happen in my head. I fled to Danny.

Danny:

I blinked in surprise when my sister came running in. “What is if Kitty?” I asked.

Felicia:

"Man, imagination, guy, wallet." I said inbetween panting breaths. I rested my hands on my knees for a moment before dancing from foot to foot.

Danny:

I sighed. “Go get the wallet from my school bag, Kitty. You’re going to give it back to him and explain what happened.”

Felicia:

I nodded rapidly, dashing off again. It took me a bit to find his bag and once I did I just dumped the entire contents onto the floor and pushed things around till I found the wallet. I held it up triumphantly before rushing back to Danny, in the hopes that he would be the one to return it.

Danny:

“No go give it to him, don’t keep him waiting.” I told her. Just then Krista came back in followed by Alice, Megan, a boy, and Katie. I waved to them. “Sorry, Danny, I had to bring my brother Nathanial.” Megan said nodding to the boy. He gave a nervous wave.
