School of Thought

I sat up in the fountain and brushed water out of my eyes. I felt tears well up in my eyes until I saw my reflection. I looked ridiculous, soaking wet and about to cry over it? It was silly. I got up and kind of splashed over to the edge and climbed out. I shook my head and body a little to try and get most of the water off. It really didn't accomplish much, and my clothes did little more than just cling to my skin. I looked down at myself before a thought came into my head, and I hurriedly dropped to my knees, pulling my backpack into my lap. I opened it up and took out my note book with notes written. I flipped to the first page and my heart sank. It was now unreadable, and so now I did feel like crying, but instead I just kind of sat there in shock.

Nathanial:

“Tough day?” I asked crouching next to her and putting a hand on her shoulder.

I blinked up at Nathanial. "Well, it started out so promising...I had these confusing feelings about you. Danny met a cute guy who is now his servant genie person. I got petted by a strange lady. And I even did my notes for class...though now they are all ruined." I sighed softly and looked down at them before nodding my head sharply. "I will just hafta tell Danny I didn't do my notes."

Nathanial:

I blinked surprised by her frankness. “Ah, well. You could borrow some form a classmate?” I suggested.

I gasped and brightened throwing my arms around him in a hug. "Oh thank you thank you thank you. I never thought of that before!"

Nathanial:

I made a slightly strangled sound. “You don’t have to thank me, I didn’t do anything.” I muttered.

I kissed his cheek then pulled back suddenly. "Oh! I'm sorry! I got you wet..." I brought a hand up to my lips where I nervously bit my pointer finger..

Nathanial:

Slightly dazed, I looked down at my shirt front. “Oh.” I shrugged. “It doesn’t matter.”

I shifted from foot to foot noting his expression. "Are you okay?" I asked with a tilt of my head, wondering if I had messed up twice today.

Nathanial:

“I’m okay.” I said with a nod as I got to my feet and helped her to hers. “Shall we go find your brother?” I asked.

I nodded. "He said he was going to meet me here, but he is late." I said quietly once I was on my feet. I pointed to a building, "His last class is in that building." I didn't know it, but not only was I early to the fountain, but Danny's class was in the building next to it.

Nathanial:

“Maybe he was held up in class? We could meet him there.” I suggested with a little shrug.

I nodded and held onto his hand as I led him towards the building, leaving a trail of drops from the fountain.

Nathanial:

I looked down at the ground with a mixture of amusement and embarrassment. What would people think looking at the two of us?

I glanced at him and caught his expression. I slowed our speed and tilted my head, "What are ya thinking about?" I asked him as we walked.

Nathanial:

“Just what a sight you are, sopping wet.” I said with a slight quirk of my lips. I looked her in the face then noticed something in her hair. With a glance around to see if anyone was looking I hurried her inside and pulled her to a corner hiding her from view a little. When she had fallen into the water it must have dislodged a pin that held her ears down, and her hair was damp now, which released the shape more. I reached up and repined her ear, then fluffed up her hair to made them better.

I looked down at my clingy clothes. "There's nuffin wrong with it is there?" I was a little surprised when he pulled me into a corner, and I felt a slight fluttering in my chest. I swallowed nervously, then gave a started gasp when he touched my ear. A slight shiver ran through my body at the touch. My ears had always been sensitive for me. Touching, playing, heck even sometimes just a fan blowing across them tended to get a reaction from me. If I happened to be in a cuddly mood it was a good feeling like being petted. However on the chance I was in a more physical mood, it was certainly a pleasurable spot to be touched. As it was, with him pulling me into the corner and then touching my ear, my brain didn't even think about the idea that it had come undone. I just blushed heavily and moved a bit closer to him, leaving perhaps an inch at most from my body touching his.

Nathanial:

I looked into her eyes when I finished and suddenly grew very conscious of how close she was to me. I stepped back and looked at the floor awkwardly. “Shall we go find your brothers class room?” I asked, rubbing the back of my neck.

I looked at him in annoyance before I paused and my expression became one of confusion. Why was I annoyed? I couldn't think of a reason why so I brushed it off and then took a moment to brush aside the slight longing I felt to be touching him. That was another feeling that confused me, but since it confused me I decided that ignoring it was the best choice.

Nathanial:

I followed her wordlessly to the classroom. This was such an odd girl, and an odd pairing of friends.

I looked into the room then frowned. "He isn't here...did I get the room wrong?" I wondered outloud before chewing on my lip in concern.

Nathanial:

I looked around the room and at the posters on the wall. “Probably, unless he is in black women studies.” I said in amusement looking at the wet girl.

I shook my head, "I don't think he is taking that." I replied reluctantly. I wasn't going to admit that I didn't know what he was taking.

Nathanial:

I sighed. “Maybe he’s at the fountain now?” I suggested hopefully.

I nodded slowly, my eyes brightening with some hope.
