Danny:

I couldn’t help but let my eyes graze over him. “Uh yeah Denise, the cook, she makes these really great cinnamon sticks. They’re like cinnamon roll breadsticks; I could ask her to make some?” I said, a little dazed.

I beamed and nodded. "That sounds fantastic, do you think she would mind if I shared her kitchen to make the hot chocolate?"

Danny:

“She wouldn’t say anything, but she does get territorial about the kitchen. She would be happy to make the hot chocolate as well though. Shall I go ask?” I smiled.

"Aw, if I ask do you thing that she will let me use the stove? It just isn't the same to have someone else make it. And I like my recipe. Ah well, the kitchen is hers, I wont press her." I said with a small, brief pout.

Danny:

“Well, We can ask… Come on, I’ll introduce you.” I said waving my hand for him to follow me.

I fidgeted with my hands together, feeling nervous about meeting this territorial woman. I stayed close to Danny, my arm brushing his on occasion as I worried and fretted over this trivial matter.

Danny:

“Denise?” I called out once we reached the kitchen. It looked like it was taken from a restaurant; everything was shiny steel and immaculately kept. Any new toy that came out that Denise wanted to try I got for her. The newest one was a machine that’s sole purpose was to slice and broil cheese in a way that made it melt perfectly.
Denise came out from her room that connected to the kitchen. “Yes? What can I do for you? Are we having extra guests for dinner tonight?” She asked, eyeing Kohl. “Uh, actually, this is Kohl, he’s going to be staying with us… And this is Denise, Queen of the Kitchen.” I introduced them. Denise was a large woman in her sixties with short, curly, graying blond hair. And her favorite thing, besides cooking, was flattery.

Khol:

I gave a low, deep bow. "Queen? I didn't know you were going to show me royalty Danny. If I had known I would have dressed better!" I complained to him. I turned a shy smile to the woman as I straightened. "A pleasure to meet you madam," I looked around and my eyebrows raised appreciatively. "You have a wonderful kitchen, I'm jealous."

 

Khol:

"Delicious creations? Oh how I wish I could ask for a recipe or two...but I know full well how protective chef's are. I got a sound whack on the head with a wooden spoon the last time I tried to find out what a friend put into his stuffed raviolis." I gave a rueful sigh and rubbed the top of my head absently. I shot a wink with dancing eyes to Danny before returning my gaze to Denise.

Danny:

Denise smiled. "Are you a cook?" She asked. "I don't let Danny or Felicia in the kitchen because, well, they're hopeless. But could assist me some time if you like." She offered.

"I was trained as a servant for many a master and mistress. Cooking was one such duty. But I feel I must ask your humblest apologies. Had I known that such a chef was over this kitchen I would have refrained from making hot chocolate late at night for Danny and Felicia. I actually came to ask if I might have permission to use your kitchen again to make such a drink, but I can understand if you would rather I did not." I gave her a hapless smile, my hands rubbing together awkwardly.

Danny:

"Oh," She paused for only a second before agreeing, "I don't suppose that would be a problem. Help yourself. But thank you for asking." She smiled warmly at him, it was clear that he had won her over in a matter of minutes.

Kohl:

I beamed in delight first at her then to Danny. "Would either of you care for some then? I'd be glad to make enough for more than just myself." I offered as I went right for the sink. I turned on the hot water and waited a few seconds before washing my hands to sanitize them. From there I explored her kitchen, so I could find all the ingredients I would need.

Danny:

"Could you make enough for four please? I'm sure Kitty will want some." I asked with a soft smile, watching him work. "Just ask if you need anything dear, I can point you in the right direction." Denise added.

I came out of the pantry with a very light dusting of flour on the tip of my nose. There were some coloring my eyelashes as well. I had gotten all of it while searching for the sugar which I held in the crook of my arm. The rest of my arms held an assortment of dry ingredients in neatly labled cans, boxes, and plastic containers. "I can certainly make enough for four. Um...ma'am where would I find a whisk, and a nice sized sauce pot?" I set what I had out on the counter, tapping my cheek thoughtfully as I looked at the ingredients. Normally I would have just used magic to find everything someplace in the world. But I didn't know how well Denise took to magic so I would do it all by hand.

Danny:

I asked Denise if she could make her cinnamon sticks, then stepped back against the wall to let them work. She told Kohl where to find the things he needed while she gathered her own ingredients.

I kept glancing at Danny as I worked, heating the milk in a sauce pot on the stove and slowly adding in ingredients as I went. It was a bit different to do this by hand, but it went well and soon enough I was looking around for glasses.

Danny:

"The kitchen smelled heavenly and I was sure the rest of the house would too. It wouldn't take long for my sister to follow her nose here. Denise nodded Kohl to a cabinet where the mugs were kept.

"Danny could you get the mugs for me? I don't want to leave this on the stove." I asked with a shy smile. Mostly I wanted to have him nearby, but I also could use the assistance.

Felicia:

I was up in my jungle gym, hanging upside down as music blared in the room. I was trying to throw a ball into a hoop on the ground while hanging upside down and while my attempts so far were unsuccessful, I was trying anyway. It didn't help that the clothes I had changed into were getting in the way. I had stripped out of the dress and had left it draped over a bar down below. I was now in a matching sports bra and panties, over which was a pair of thin cotton shorts that reached the middle of my thighs, and one of Danny's old shirts. It was loose enough that it kept falling down and generally blocking my vision. On my legs were knee high socks with one striped the other spotted. All of it was clothes I had found around the giant room. Everything I had been wearing was with the dress.

I made another attempt at throwing the ball but the shirt hampered my throw and I missed the hoop by a good ten feet. I sighed lightly and tried yanking the shirt back up my upside down body with little success in getting it to stay. I swung myself up and drew in a deep breath, perking up as I caught the scent of delicious food being made. I quickly scrambled down the the floor and ran to the door. I grabbed the handle of the door, stopped, flicked my tail, and ran back to grab the ball I had been trying to get into the hoop. I placed the ball in the middle of the hoop before with a cheeky grin I skipped to the door and off to find the source of the smell.

 

When Danny brought the mugs I leaned over and kissed his cheek. It was a reflex and my own cheeks colored as I turned my attention into pouring the drink into the mugs. I worried about what he would think about what I had just done, so I didn't look at him at all, feeling that I had made a mistake.

 

I didn't know if I was glad, or disappointed that he didn't comment or react really from me kissing his cheek. So I just offered him his mug and when Felicia came bolting up, I passed her a mug as well. I took in her appearance for a moment, amusement running through me. It was obviously one of Danny's shirts and the neck had long since been stretched out so that it was nearly falling off her shoulders. If she didn't have her arms in the sleeves, I was sure it would have.

Danny:

I smiled fondly at my sister. Denise brought out her plate of cinnamon sticks. "Come on people, don't gather in the kitchen." She said kindly, shooing us out into the dining room.
