Zombies! (Open)

"True, but the weapons need to be cleaned anyway. Where is yours so I can clean it?" I asked giving a happy sigh at her rubbing. "And I will have you know that back in the desert this was the common way for us to compete for things."

Emily:

I went to get my hand gun from my bag and gave it to him. “Compete for what?” I asked curiously, sitting across from him to watch how he took the gun apart.

I took apart her gun and began cleaning it. "For everything, I got the idea from the card thing our parents started. We were going to have to clean them anyway, sand getting into the parts of gun can make it jam. It was fun to do and kept arguments down. Same rules applied as with the cards. Challenger picks the chore, challengee picks the weapons. Both people sit down take apart the weapons clean them then a third person says go and first one to complete the weapon wins."

Emily:

“I’m happy just playing the cards. It doesn’t look like much fun just putting it together. I was never good at puzzles you know.” I smiled sheepishly.

"I know. And cards got ruined quickly while we were there. So we tried to avoid using them unless we were someplace that didn't get a lot of sand blown at us. Like in a building or cave." I said. I finished cleaning her gun then slowly started to assemble it back together.

Emily:

I took up the deck of cards lying on the table and started shuffling them absently while I watched my brother.

Once her gun was all put back together I offered it out to her, with a smile. "All clean and ready for use."

Emily:

I took it and went to replace it in my back pack on the side compartment where a water bottle was supposed to go. I thought better of it this time though, if there was a chance that curious hands would find it, so I zipped it up in the main compartment.

Ari:

I found an empty room and curled up on the bed, holding my stomach as I grit my teeth. I gave a few whimpers but I tried to keep my cries of pain as silent as possible.

Aiden:

The night was mostly uneventful after everyone went to bed. I watched at one window while Everett watched at another. A herd of zombies did pass through the neighborhood, but they didn’t come near the house. After that there were just a dozen or so lingerers.

Kate:

I woke up at dawn and left Elijah sleeping in the bed while I got dressed and went down stairs. “Everything good?” I asked the boys in a whisper.

"A bit of a worry with a herd but it passed us." I whispered back as I slung my rifle onto my shoulder.

Kate:

“Good. I’m ready to take watch now if y’all want to get some rest.” I said and crossed the room to look out the window that Everett was by.

I nodded and gave a small stretch. "I'll wake up Emily for you then shall I." I gave her a smile before grabbing my rifle and slinging it on my shoulder.

Kate:

“You don’t have to, I can manage on my own. Its lighter now, it’ll be easier to see things. Let her sleep.” I said with a soft smile.

I shook my head, "She gets mad if I don't let her help. She might not be physically strong, but she tries to help in anyway she can."

Kate:

“I can respect that.” I said with a nod of approval. “I’ll go get Elijah up before I start watch.” I said going back up stars to fetch my son.

"Yeah, I'll send Emily to you." I gave her a small wave before yawning into my hand and heading towards mine and Em's room.

Emily:

I was in a deep sleep. The best I had in months. Everett made me feel safe, but something about being with a group of people made me feel better.

I walked into the room and sat on the bed beside Emily. I reached out with a soft smile to carefully smooth the hair from her face. "Emily, come on sweetie time to get up for your watch."

Emily:

I rolled to my back and blinked up at him. “What.” I mumbled staring at his face without realy comprehending what he was doing here.

"It's your turn on watch Emily. Come on, get up or else I will carry you out there without giving you the chance to get dressed." It was a light threat, but I had done so before.

Emily:

I gave a little groan as I sat up and sleepily went to pull on jeans over my shorts, and a t-shirt over my tank top. “m’kay, now you can carry me.” I said sleepily but with a playful smile.

I laughed softly, going over and scooping her up in my arms easily. "Oh alright, if I must."

Emily:

I giggled and put my arms around his neck. “I feel like a princess.” I said then added, “A dirty, smelly princess.”

"But your my princess, as dirty and smelly as you might be." I teased, leaning down to plant a kiss on her forehead before setting her down on her feet beside Kate. "I bring one princess to another, now keep your conspiring to a minimum you hear." I winked to Kate before ruffling Emily's hair. I gave a lazy stretch as I left them to the watch.
