Boarding School for the Mythical

Vivian:

I blinked up at her, "Um...let me go?" I asked hopefully, wondering if I should actually be here. Shade was now home, but that didn't mean I had to stay right? These people seemed nice, but usually what happened with adults is they looked at you...decided that you needed looking after...then baths happened, and cuddling...stupid stuff.

Tabitha:

I glanced to Sphinx uncertainly. Shade climbed up onto the couch back and sat close to me, looking down at her in a superior way. I couldn’t take care of her, a child, but I assumed Sphinx knew what to do with her, after all this had been going on for a while.

Vivian:

I held a hand up to Shade, scratching him where I knew he liked to be petted. My gaze however flicked between Tabitha and Sphinx. The latter had a slight frown on his face. He motioned with his head for her to step away so they could probably talk about me. Once they were far enough away I could hear him quietly say, "What are you thinking? I don't relish the idea of leaving her on her own, and I haven't a clue how far away her guards might be. I can try to contact them, but she does need someplace to stay...I hate to ask, but could she stay here?"

I rolled my eyes to myself, what was with grown ups and talking right where others could hear them? I may have been a kid but I wasn't deaf...

Tabitha:

I blinked in surprise. “I… I wouldn’t know how to care for her… And I don’t have anywhere for her to stay except for the couch… I thought she would go with you, since you’ve known her so long…” I said uncomfortably.

Sphinx:

I blinked at her then raised an eyebrow, "You do know I don't actually own a house right? I can get a place tonight, but for now could she stay here? I would rather not have her wandering around. She is a highly valued targ..." As I was speaking I turned to look at the girl only to find she was gone and the front door mostly closed. "..get..."

Tabitha:

“What do you mean she’s a target?” I asked hurrying to the door to look out to see where she had gone. “Who’s after her?”

Sphinx:

"Vivian is a very influential person. Well she is when she is older, but when she is young she is a target because they know they can over power her then." I said, following her to the door.

Vivian:

I only stopped running when I was well away from the building and down an alley. I put my hands on my knees panting before straightening and drawing several deep breaths to get my breathing under control. I didn't notice the men moving down the alley from both sides until one pointed a knife at me. "Well well well, we seem to have finally captured you pigeon."

Tabitha:

“Well what are we going to do? Where would she have gone?” I asked a little frantically.

Sphinx:

I sighed and rubbed my face. "Anywhere. She is a child as you pointed out, anything could strike her fancy."

Vivian:

I blinked and looked at the knife. I did what I had been trained to do then, and I grabbed his wrist and tugging I yanked him backwards, falling onto the ground to add my weight to the pull. He collided with the man behind me impaling him and I used my position on the ground to sweep the legs out from under a third man. I rolled onto the man who I had tripped and grabbing his arm in the roll I dislocated his shoulder and then smashed his head down to the ground. I then scrambled to my feet. The one I had originally pulled still had his back to me. I had no qualms about him wanting to kill me. So I kicked the back of his knees to drive him to his knees. I then stepped on the back of his calfs so I could stand while my arms wrapped around his head. I twisted my entire body in one quick jerk and I could feel his neck breaking. However the forth man the one I hadn't touched had pulled the knife out of the one who had been stabbed and lunged at me, gouging it down my arm. I gave a cry of pain and fell back.

Velaric:

I had seen the whole thing, it had happened so quick that it was nearly over before even I could reach her. I stepped up behind the last man, grabbing his arm so roughly that it snapped lick a twig in my hand, and I slit his throat with his own knife in his own hand. I stood there for a single moment completely still as he fell to the ground.
The scene was thick with blood and the smell of it assaulted me. Not the quantity of blood, her blood. It made every cell in my body want to snatch her up in my arms and sink my fangs into her delicate, young, soft skin. I held my nose and breathed through my mouth, but I could taste the blood in the air. I gave a low moan, fighting the desire.

I looked at the new person suspiciously, fully expecting to have to fight him too but I recognized him from before. I ran over and threw my arms around his neck, "Thank you for saving me..." I whispered, before my memories came to my mind. He was a vampire, and I was bleeding. I hesitated a moment before hugging my arm to my chest then offering it carefully to him. "Please don't take too much..."

Velaric:

It took every shred of self-control I could muster not to drain her, not to even taste her. “No. No I could never.” I said, my voice straining. I moved away from her and leaned against a fence post feeling light headed and dizzy. I typed out a quick text to Sphinx to come to me now.

Sphinx:

"I think I know where she is. Vel may have found her." I said after looking at my phone.

Vivian:

I sat with my back against the alley wall, tears starting to spring to my eyes. I hurt, and I was scared now.

Velaric:

I sat down on the ground and watched her in dismay while struggling to keep myself still as stone. “Don’t cry, you’re fine.” I said awkwardly.

My eyes lifted to him and I sniffled and forced myself to stop crying. I tried putting on a brave face, but it wasn't hard to look past it.

Tabitha:

My eyes widened when we came upon the seen, all the dead men around the two of them. “What happened?” I asked going over to the girl as if to protect her from the vampire. He looked at me with silted eyes.

"I was attacked...I got all of them but one...he saved my life..." I said pointing to the vampire. "I got cut by the man with the knife...and I know he is a vampire and since he saved my life I offered him some of my blood. It seemed like the right thing to do...he refused and well...my arm hurts..." Tears came unbidden to my eyes.

Sphinx:

I looked over the bodies then while Tabitha stayed with Vivian, I knelt next to Vel. I touched his shoulder and focused my thoughts. It took longer than I liked but I had a mask that would cover his nose and mouth for the time being, as well as a vial of blood for him to drink. The mask was something the vampire clans had invented. It blocked the scent of blood, and in most cases helped prevent feeding if surrounded by lots of it.

Velaric:

I drank the blood thankfully. “Can you heal her?” I asked, looking up at my friend. “Her arm was cut…”

"Of course." I said but I looked at my long-time friend for several moments, my expression neutral. I had never known him to be this worried about another, it made me wonder just how much the little girl who put on a brave face even though she was crying, meant to him. I moved over to Vivian and took her arm in both of my hands, my touch gentle as I focused my energy into her arm, letting her own body do what it needed to heal the wound.

Velaric:

I got to my feet and nodded to Tabitha. “Take her back to your place.” I told her as I dialed a number into my phone.

Tabitha:

Once Sphinx was done healing her I held out my hand for hers. “Come one, let’s go back. I’ll make you lunch.” I offered.

Sphinx:

I stood up and watched Vivian hold onto Tabitha's hand, holding onto it tightly as it was a life line. My gaze then turned to Velaric. I was worried about him, and Vivian was fine now.

Velaric:

I looked over at Sphinx as I pulled the mask off. Vivian and Tabitha were far enough away now. “Why are you looking at me like that?” I asked while going over to one of the attackers who’s chest was still rising and falling.

"Because, I have never seen you get this attached to someone before. Your usually in it for the pleasure alone. Hell, I know you have wanted me like that. But still, your my closest friend. Something like this isn't something that normally is good for a persons mental health. I want to know your okay, and if your not. I want to help if I can." I said softly, leaning against the wall.

Velaric:

“I’m not that attached to her. She’s a kid for Christ’s sake. But I wasn’t going to let her be murdered in front of me.” I said nonchalantly. I stepped up close to the face of the unconscious man and in one quick movement I had crushed his throat under my heel.

"Right, because you just happened to be in the same place as her? The hotel is the other direction Vel." I crossed my arms.
