Boarding School for the Mythical

I gave her hand a gentle squeeze while offering what assistance I could in locating the portal location.

Tabitha:

When we finally got back to my family, the greeting was not altogether warm. They were not as welcoming tot Sphinx, and they were unhappy with me. But more so, they were scared that I would be lost if the other one took over. It was an exhausting trip and I was glad to be done with it when it was over. Even Shade seemed to treat me differently, though with no less love, he was more protective of me.

~Skip a week or so~

I was glad when rehearsals started up again to keep my mind of the things that usually preyed on me. I hadn’t switched again since Christmas, but I was more weary. I was also worried for Sphinx and his condition. Dancing took that all out of my mind and helped me to relax.

Velaric:

Vivian was over most of the time but I insisted that she continue to sleep at Tabitha’s. I hadn’t seen the Nymph since Christmas, I knew she didn’t like me, so when I dropped Vivian off, it was always outside the apartment, never going in.

It was a hard line to walk with Vivian, trying not to treat her like a child for fear of offending her, but I couldn’t treat her like a woman either, for fear of what I might do. The more she matured, the easier it was to be around her and control my desire for her blood.

Sphinx:

I flipped through the book in my hands before setting it back on the shelf. "Are you sure about this Vivian?" I asked glancing at her as she wrapped her hands around a cup of coffee.

"Of course!" Her gaze turned to the package in front of her. A gift that had just arrived for her through Tabitha's address.

"Well...Vel may laugh. But he might also be very upset you know..." I shook my head and sat down across from her.

Velaric:

I met them in the lobby café. I had dressed and combed my hair but it still had a quality of bead head. I slid into a seat across from Vivian. My grogginess dissipated as I looked her over. It was just past sunset.

Vivian:

I smiled cheerfully. "Hiya Vel. Coffee?" I pushed forward a second cup. This one was mixed with blood, just for him.

Velaric:

I took a sip silently. Coffee, no matter how much blood was mixed in, did not have much draw for me. I never told her that though, as she enjoyed sharing it with me. “What’s this?” I asked nodding to the box on the table, then glancing over at Sphinx who was inspecting a bookshelf.

"Well...I did ruin your gift...so I had to get you another one." I smiled at him then took another sip of the beverage. I followed his eyes to Sphinx who had a confused look on his face as he lifted a book.

Velaric:

“You didn’t have to do that Vivian.” I said softly, sipping at the blood coffee. “What are you doing Sphinx? I’m sure there isn’t a book on that shelf that you haven’t read.” I said to distract myself from studying the young girl across from me.

"I dunno about that. Fifty shades of grey? I only made it through the first chapter." I grimaced. "More surprised they keep it out in the open like this..."

Velaric:

I grinned. “Well it is pretty tame compared to what I’ve…” I dropped off with a look at Vivian. “I mean, I’ve never finished it either…”

Sphinx:

I snorted. "Don't forget. I've seen the aftermath of what you have done. I have even read the books that short little woman wrote after a few nights with you. Believe me. I know it's tame."

Vivian:

"What isn't tame?" I asked, looking between them both.

Velaric:

I grimaced. It was one thing to perform such acts, it was another to read about them with descriptive words. ‘Engorged’ was one of my least favorite words now. I turned my attention back to Vivian and frowned slightly remembering how she had reacted to me with another woman before, I doubted she would like hearing about it again. “Books… A friend of mine wrote…” I answered.

"Oh. Can I read them sometime?" I asked as I smiled at Velaric. I kept glancing between Sphinx and Vel, though both seemed to be grimacing.

Velaric:

I laughed darkly. “No you may not.” I answered then downed my coffee. “You finished?” I asked her as I stood.

"Mmhmm." I downed the rest of my coffee, my cheeks puffing out with liquid as I slowly worked it all down. Once I got it all down I grabbed the package and smiled up at him.

Velaric:

Her smile melted my grimace. “Let’s go for a walk. Have you had dinner?” I asked her, putting on an outdoor coat though I wouldn’t need it.

"I haven't, but I'll be alright." I adjusted my own coat, as well as the scarf I had gotten for Christmas. "But I'm ready when you are. Bye Sphinx!" I told him, he just smiled at me and nodded.

Velaric:

“We can get you something from a food trailer while we walk.” I told her with a half wave to Sphinx as we left.

"That works wonderfully." I said with a nod. I took his arm as soon as we were out, the box tucked under the other arm.

Velaric:

The sky wasn’t completely dark, but the sun was fully out of sight and the amount of light left wasn’t enough to harm me, especially in a winter coat. “What sounds good? Tacos? Burgers? Mediterranean?” I asked her as I led her along down the street to the little cluster of food trucks.

"Mediterranean! I would love some gyro's." I said with a cheerful nod. Since the incedent before christmas I had tried to bring him something with blood or just plain blood to tide him over while I ate real food.

Velaric:

We stopped off at the truck and I ordered her what she asked for. Once we had the food I took her to a little table tucked away under a heavy branched tree.

I kicked my feet slightly on the seat as I devoured the meal. The entire time I kept my eyes on Velaric, a thoughtful look on my face.

Velaric:

I watched her without saying anything. We must have been an odd pair to anyone looking. A man with a young girl that look nothing alike, just staring at each other.

My memories rose unbidden, of everything I could remember about Vampires. Strengths, weaknesses, times of war and peace.
