Boarding School for the Mythical

Velaric:

I leaned toward her as if I were magnetized. "What is going through your head, Vivian?" I asked her softly.

"You. My past memories are coming up...but I also don't know anything about you. Are you a natural born Vampire? One of the Turned." The Born were of the noble class. The Turned the guard and servants of the Born." I looked down and shrugged before meeting his gaze and leaning forward slightly.

Velaric:

I shifted, my eyes narrowing slightly. “If I was born a vampire, do you think I would be here now? Do you think my closest friend would be The Sphinx?” I asked. Most vampires belonged to the clan. They were territorial creatures and not very social. Most importantly, they didn’t care about killing. I had a lot of contempt for my own race.

"Sphinx. The Bloodless One. The one who first put the true fear of permanent death in the hearts of the Old Ones." My eyes were locked on his, lost in my memories in part, the other part lost in his eyes. "And one never tells the Born what to do, especially other vampires."

Velaric:

I shook my head. “I was turned. When I was seventeen. This life was never something I wanted.”

"This wasn't the life I chose either....but I was born to it." The far off look faded and a thoughtful look came into her eyes before a small giggle left her. She covered her mouth as laughter continued to spill out of her mouth.

Velaric:

I was taken aback and frankly puzzled by her outburst. “What on Earth Viv?” I asked.

I waved a hand as I worked on getting my laughter under control. "I was trying to imagine a seventeen year old Velaric. What you would do, what you would be like...it was....cute."

Velaric:

I settled back, arms crossed. "Human or vampire? Because the seventeen year old vampire was not anything resembling cute." I answered coolly.

"Vampires are pretty ugly when they first turn or are born...look like well...death. But. I was talking about Human." I flashed him a cheeky little smile.

Velaric:

Her smile warmed me a little. "Well... I wasn't as attractive then..." I flashed her a smile. "But I think I was good looking, I would have been interested in me that is. My eyes were blue then, and I was fairly tan, I worked on a farm most of my child hood.."

"Mmm. Blue eyes, tanned, built from working a farm." I pretended to fan myself as if the image was too hot for me to handle. "Certainly sounds like an attractive man."

Velaric:

I raised my eyebrows at her. "I didn't realize you were into humans." I muttered.

"Kinda like Sphinx...the race doesn't matter. It's the person themselves. Male, female, both, neither. Vampire, human, nymph, minotaur, dragon...even a zombie once. Though...it wasn't the greatest night..." A faint green look came to my face and I pushed aside my mostly eaten food.

Velaric:

I made a gaging sound. “A zombie? How did that happen?” There were some creatures even I wouldn’t touch.

"A lot of alcohol...a bet...and I think a fair deal of loneliness. Not many want to approach me when I grow up...and it wasn't one of the rotting ones. He was dead sure, but risen again through luck. He played a nice tune on the harp I remember." I shrugged my shoulders.

Velaric:

“I can’t imagine being able to keep away from you when you’re grown up… Surly you were irresistible. How could you be lonely?” I leaned toward her with a playful smile.

I giggled and gave him my best seductive look. "Oh it was never because of me...I tried to make sure whoever got close was happy and satisfied.". I winked and leaned closer. "But my guards are a little over protective..."

Velaric:

I sat back, leaning away from her again. For a moment I had forgotten that she was practically a child. "as they should be... You're one of a kind." I answered, losing the playful tone.

The sudden change was jarring, but I only dropped my gaze and fiddled with my fingers. It had been a while since I had run away, I kept expecting them to show up. Taking me away.

Velaric:

I looked away from her and my eyes fell on the box she brought along. “So when do I get to open this?” I asked, drying to distract the conversation.

"Soon. But not yet." I said though m y mind was elsewhere. Why hadn't my guards found me? I could usually get away for a few weeks, but this had been months now...

Velaric:

I watched her. "Vivian?" I asked after a minute of her silence, I could tell she was deep in thought.

"Why haven't my guards come for me...I've been gone a long time." I said softly as I fidgeted with my hands. "I-I mean...I want to stay...but there has been no sign..."

Velaric:

I frowned. "Has this happened before?" I asked her.
