Perfect School

I pulled on a tight black dress, one that hugged my curves but still teased at the imagination. A light bit of makeup highlighted my face and my hair was done up as best I could with it's short length. Lacy underwear was included along flats that had the same pattern within the lace. Once I was dressed and ready I took a moment to use a faint touch of perfume on my way out. The exotic, spicy smell danced at my nose as I moved out to the living room.

Jonah:

“Well,” I said in surprise upon seeing her all done up. “If they weren't jealous before, they certainly would be now.” I commented, referencing our earlier conversation. I stood up from my spot on the couch just as our chaperone came out.

I was fully focused but still his words brought a brief ghost of a smile. "You aren't so bad yourself." I quipped back before releasing the emotions and letting myself sink into my normal unfeeling state.

Jonah:

The pathway to the lobby was now lit with small lams sporadically placed. You could tell the resort was secluded by the lack of any far off light source. I kept my hands in my pockets as I walked next to Kira, the teacher behind us.

The restaurant, when we arrived, was set up in buffet style and the tables were arranged in groups. The teacher told us to introduce ourselves and find out as much as we could about our opponents, as it would come to be useful later on in the competition.

"Mingling is more your area Jonah." I stated as my gaze roamed those already milling about. I studied them like a predator would, knowing that here stood some of the best would-be-assassins in the world."

Jonah:

“I wont argue that.” I murmured, scanning the room. There were about a dozen competitors in the room, a few I had seen earlier at lunch, and a few new faces. I spotted the young woman I had waved to at the bar. “Well, when your friend arrives, you can introduce me to him.” I told Kira. “Until then, lets grab something to drink.”

I nodded and began to weave my way through the tables to the bar, keeping my hands clasped behind myself. I kept up my study, not even bothering to be subtle about what I was doing.

Jonah:

Once we had something to drink in our hands, I put my free hand on Kira's back to steer her around. I found the girl I had seen earlier and introduced us. She was pretty, as tall as I was and visible curves under her dress, though not quite as much as Kyra's back at the school. So far, she was the only other female in the room besides Kira.

I wasn't sure if I enjoyed having his hand on my back, but I didn't stop him. I used both hands to hold and sip at my drink lightly as I greeted the girl. I tried to be polite, but one can only do so much while trying to keep your face and voice emotionless.

Jonah:

“Quite an actor, you had me thinking you were ten, what with that child-like dress and all your giggles earlier.” Our new acquaintance said to Kira. Her name was Evelyn.

"It serves me well." I gave a disappointed shrug of my shoulders, green eyes turning away to roam the other bodies.

Jonah:

I looked Kria over, there was not a trace of the girl I had lunch with. I steered the conversation with Evelyn, asking her where she came from, what she thought of this competition. She wasn't acting, I could see it easily. There was no deceit in any of her answers, though she was talented at eluding some of my questions, but she never lied. It was interesting.

I listened in to their conversation, interjecting every now and then when things were directed at me. I was studying people as they mingled. How a person held themselves, how they moved, the way they walked. It was all something I could use in the future.

Jonah:

I saw the two guys from earlier enter the restaurant. I excused us from the one we were talking to then looked down at Kira. “Why don't you go say hi to him?” I suggested, leaning against the bar.

I flicked my eyes up to him then gave a small shrug. "Fine." I accepted his suggestion after a small pause. Setting my drink down beside him I slipped through the crowd to stop beside Sean. "It's been a while Sean."

Jonah:

I watched the pair from where I was. My eyes were mostly on Kira, I was curious as to how she would act with someone she used to know. Had they gotten into her personality any more than I had? I watch the guy as well, so I could learn something about him that would be useful during the competition, but Kira was my interest.

Sean turned with a charming smile that could melt hearts. "Kira! How are you girl?" He asked, throwing his arm around her shoulder in a one sided hug. An awkward shift rolled through me before I just accepted the contact.

Jonah:


There was an instant distaste for the guy when he hugged Kira. I did not like that one bit. It was not rational but, from what Kira said about him, I wasn't likely to become friends with him anyway.

Sean introduced me to his other companions. Dean, the irishboy he'd come in with. Marqe a french kid who looked half asleep and kept rubbing at his nose. And a Xing, a bald kid who bowed as he was introduced. I recognized the bow and gave my own, hands clasped together appropriately. I watched them all carefully, noting that the french kid kept flicking his hands as if he was used to having a knife within them. Dean just stared at me, while I kept my focus up at Sean.

Jonah:

I did several sweeps of the room, reading faces as I could in between analyzing Kira and the other four. I caught Evelyn watching me a couple times. That interested me. She could know nothing about me other than what she had observed. Unlike Kira or Sean or any others that had been in this world for a while, I was unknown by any of them. Only Kira knew what I could do.

"I'd like you to meet someone Sean." I interjected into the conversation after pleasantries were passed around. I nodded my head towards Jonah. Sean glanced over his shoulder, inspecting him before nodding. "Alright. He's your partner in this isn't he. Sounds like this will be a bloody good time." He winked at me, and with arm still around my shoulders abandoned the other three to lead us over.

Jonah:

I made a split second decision as they were walking up to me. I didn't like him, or the way he was with Kira, but that didn't matter. I wasn't likely to intimidate him, I wasn't bigger than him, and although I was more intelligent, that wasn't likely to mean much to him. I could think of one thing to make him uncomfortable without knowing more of his character.

As they walked up, I looked him over, eyes lingering on his arms and shoulders before meeting his face. I didn't look at him as I would an opponent, rather, a gorgeous woman with long legs and ample bosom. I gave him a charming smile when they came in front of me.

The charming smile threw me off as I gazed at Jonah. "Sean meet Jonah my partner. Jonah, Sean.". I introduced them both before settling against the bar to sip my drink.

Jonah:

“Very pleased to meet you.” I said with a suggestive smile. I glanced at Kira, “You were right.” I murmured the words purely for Sean's benefit.

"I usually am." I said with an arched brow as I watched him. Sean's smile had faltered slightly at the brazen flirting but he plaid it off and stuck out his hand to shake. "So. Jonah. You treating Kira right I hope. Must be or else she'd put you on your bloody ass eh?" He chuckled.
