Kai:

I reached out for her hand hesitantly.

I blinked, brought out of my thoughts. I looked at our hands before following his arm up to his face, where I looked into his eyes.

Kai:

I put my other hand at the back of her neck and pulled her closer to me. I brushed my cheek against hers. “Don’t be cross with me.” I said gently.

I tried to fight it, but I gave in my gaze softening. The cat in me took over and I nuzzled my cheek against his.

Kai:

I smiled softly and kissed her cheek, my hand moving from her neck to stroke her hair.

I purred softly, continueing to nuzzle his cheek.

Kai:

A low purr started in my chest and I slid my hand down her back to hug her close.

I had both of my hands on his chest as I purred back softly.

Demi looked towards the woods and her ears perked up. She crawled out of Michael’s lap and hopped the couple of feet to the ground from the porch.

Michael:

I blinked watching her. "Careful." I said, my eyes moving slowly before looking back up into the sky.

Demi glanced back at Michael then opened her wings a little and took off running.

Jemma:

I dropped Adam’s hand the second we were in the woods outside the house. “Mama!” Demi shouted, I turned to see her already running to me. I closed the gap between us quickly and scooped her up in my arms.

Michael:

I got to my feet and entered the house, Demi already slipping my mind. I went back to Jemma's room and sat down, my eyes unfocused as more of myself slipped away.

what?" i ask following her

Jemma:

Demi made a soft breathless sound as she buried her face in my neck. Her skin was hot, almost alarmingly so. “Baby.” I murmured rubbing her little back. She pointed toward the house. I glanced back at Adam, he was deliberately giving me space. I sighed and started making my way to the house.

Michael:

I didn't even notice the knife in my hands, when I looked at it all I saw was a metal stick. I dragged it across my leg absently, not even noticing the pain or blood that came out as it dug deep.

Jemma:

Demi wiggled out of my arms and pulled me down the hall once we were in the house. She took me to my room and I pushed the door open. “Michael.” I said in slight shock at the state of him. I rushed to him and wrenched the knife out of his hand, dropping to my knees in front of him. “What are you doing?” I asked looking up at him with intense worry.

I continued to make the motion a few more times before I looked at my hand in confusion. Where had the stick gone? It was just here....maybe it had gone to play....like...like....Dam.....Dami had.... I blinked and let my hand fall, before getting to my feet and moving over Jemma like she wasn't even there. I went over to the closet and took off my shirt, hanging it up. I had lost a lot of my muscle mass, my bones more visible than muscle was. I went back to the bed and sat down in the same place, my eyes seeing right through Jemma.

Jemma:

I stood up and leaned over him, putting my hand on his shoulder. “Michael? Michael!” I nearly shouted at him lifting his face so he had to look at me.

Michael:

I blinked at her, my eyes coming into clear focus for a second as my mouth opened to get out. "Jemm..." And just as quickly as it came, it left, my eyes losing focus and I just looked at her, no recognition on my face, not even any notice that she was there.

Jemma:

I crawled onto the bed next to him, wrapping one arm around him and putting my hand on his cheek. I rested my head on his shoulder and closed my eyes as I focused on sorting out the ruined state of his mind.

Michael:

I just sat there, too far gone to even notice her contact. While my mind was fixable, it would still have holes in it, and always be ready to unravel at anymoment.

Jemma:

Demi came over and crawled up on his other side, clearly distraught over his condition. “Michael?” I asked hoping my voice might start ringing some bells in his memory while I worked.

Michael:

"What?" I asked blinking and looking around the room to try and find the source of the sound.

Jemma:

“Focus for me.” I said softly. Demi let out a little huff of a breath and laid her ears flat.

Michael:

"Nothing to focus on...the room is empty except the bed...you guys never gave me more than that." I said, my mind turning the room into the room I had lived in back at the school.
