A Personal War (closed)

"I am! This was completely my fault, if I had only kept my mouth shut, if I never fought back..." I sighed shaking my head. "None of that would've happened."

"you would have gotten hurt, you would have been violated and maybe killed." i said "you have no reason to apologize"

"But-" I started and stopped myself. He was right, something could've happened to me...

"don't apologize for making the right decision." i looked at her softly. "you did good, now is the time to relax though"

"I hope I can relax now..." I sighed and looked at him. "I bet you probably could right away considering all you did was beat someone up for me."

i wrapped my arm around her shoulders and pulled her tight against me "if i need to, i'll do anything for you

I looked at him, smiling a tiny bit. "Thank you." I said softly and stopped to kiss him quickly.

"it's my pleasure" i whispered and pecked her lips

I chuckled and pulled him towards the inn. "Nik..."

"yea?" i asked following her

"I want you to answer something for me..." I said and glanced at him.

"shoot" i said, "ask me anything"

"What was your life like up North?" I asked quietly, looking at him for a moment then looking away.

i sighed "for the most part it was hard. i couldn't find work. i was broke, I tried just about everything. But the irish were flooding in and the war was starting so i enlisted, i didn't really think about the circumstances..." i looked at her an frowned "though after seeing you i truely rethought all of it"

"Really?" I asked and looked at him again. "Are you gad you enlisted now?"

i shook my head, "i hate that i did, but at the same time yes i am happy"

"Why do you still hate it? Is it just because you're against all of this?" I asked and frowned a little thinking everything over.

i stopped and closed my eyes "I hate it because i've seen people i used to live with killed by my own hands, i've seen brothers kill each other. "

"I've never been that close to the fighting thank goodness..." I said and shook my head.

"but i'm happy," i said "because we found each other"

"I'm glad I went on that walk that day." I admitted. "Something good came out of it."

i nodded and resumed walking for the hotel "i'm glad too"

I smiled and leaned my head on his shoulder. "I love you Nikoli, more than you know."

i smiled "i can only believe that's the truth"

I chuckled a little at him when I heard this. "Believe me, it is..."
