Boarding School for the Mythical

"Yes'm." I looked at the food on my plate and stood to give her a bow. "Thank you for the meal." I replied before sitting down again and taking a bite of it.

Tabitha:
A smile quirked at my lips. She was an odd little girl. “You’re quite welcome.” I said before biting into my food.

I ripped off a large piece and held it down under the table for Shade. I did it without even thinking, having done that a lot while taking care of him.

Shade glanced at his girl to see if she was looking, then crept over and carefully took the scrap of food from the little girl.

I went back to eating my meal as if nothing had happened. I would still be hungry after eating this, but at least my friend was also fed. Being a phoenix meant I needed lots of calories to keep myself running. If I didn't then the fire inside me died out, and me with it.

Tabitha:

“I have more food if you’re still hungry. We could make mac and cheese.” I offered once she had finished her sandwich.

I perked up at that. "Yes please!"

Tabitha:

I chuckled softly and got up to prepare the food for her.

I kicked my feet absently as I sat there. "Sphinx and the fangy one are taking a while."

Tabitha:

“They are… I hope nothing happened.” I muttered leaving the boiling water to find my phone. I sent Sphinx a text asking if everything was okay.

Sphinx:

I dialed Tabitha's number after getting her text. "Hey, sorry we are taking so long. Would you believe me if I said the line at the blood bank is long?" I said staring at the line ahead of us.

Tabitha:

“Oh.” I said at a loss for words. “Well, that’s fine. Just making sure. Any idea when you’ll be here though?” I asked.

Sphinx:

"I should be back within an hour. Sooner if I can get Vel to stop acting like a child who lost his favorite toy." I joked, "Don't worry I will be in your arms soon enough."

Tabitha:
I grinned at that. “I’ll be waiting.” I said softly before ending the call.

Vivian:

"Are you two gonna kiss?" I asked her innocently.

Tabitha:

I laughed at that. “I sure hope so.” I told her with a grin.

I scrunched my nose up. "Well...what about the special hug? I hope you two aren't loud with that..."

Tabitha:

“The.. Special.. Hug?” I asked in confusion. Realization dawned on me and I flushed deeply. “Well okay then.” I said, having no way to respond to her. I went back to the stove and poured the noodles into the water.

Vivian:

"Will I ever get a boyfriend when I grow up?" I asked looking down at Shade.

Tabitha:

“Why don’t you worry about that when the time comes?” I said with a smile.

"But, shouldn't I worry now? If Shade could I might pick him. He is cuddly and would protect me from food monsters." I giggled at my joke and smiled down at Shade.

Shade jumped up into his girl’s empty chair and looked indignant at the conversation.

Vivian:

I giggled softly at Shade's expression. "Don't worry Shade, I'm sure you will find a nice fox girl to settle down with someday!"

Tabitha:

I laughed softly as Shade flicked his fluffy tail around to shield himself from Vivian. After stirring in the cheese mix, I dished her up a bowl and brought it over. I let Shade lick the cheesy spoon.

I ate the food with gusto and quickly it was gone. I licked the bowl clean, getting some of the cheese on my face.
