Boarding School for the Mythical

Sphinx:

I smiled and placed a hand over hers on my shoulder. "I appreciate the gesture, I will talk to her later to see if I can smooth things over."

Tabitha:

I put a hand on his leg. “You don’t have to, she was the one who was rude.” I said quietly.

I shook my head, "I want to try at least. If it doesn't work, then it doesn't work. So be it. But I tried at least."

Tabitha:

I shrugged. “If you wish.” I said softly. I felt a cold, wet nose touch my knee and, with a glance around the room, I surreptitiously slipped Mishka a scrap from my plate.

I ate the plate of food with gusto after taking a few trial bites. Nothing beat a home cooked meal.

Tabitha:

I gave a yawn and stretched after I finished my food. Shade wiggled his way into my lap and shot Mishka vicious looks whenever he would come up.

I finished my food, and absently took Tabitha's hand, playing with it on top of the table with all my fingers.

Tabitha:

I smiled at Sphinx and squeezed his hand before getting up, holding Shade with one arm. “I think we’re going to head to bed.” I told my mom and sister.

Sphinx:

"Oh, you are going to bed already? Where am I sleeping for that matter?" I asked as I got to my feet and picked up both plates.

Tabitha:

“I meant you and I, not me and Shade.” I muttered. “My old room.” I told him, supporting Shade as he stood on my shoulder with his front paws.

I smiled shyly at that before I gave a wink to her sister. "I guess I am being dragged off to bed then. If I don't come out in the morning, send help. She has probably locked me away someplace." I scampered off with the plates so I could wash them.

Tabitha:

I smiled sheepishly at my little sister while she grinned at me. “I like him.” She mouthed. “I’m sure Dory will come around.” She hugged me goodnight then raised her voice, “Night Sphinx!”

"Night!" I called from the kitchen. I quickly washed our plates and then set them on the dish rack to dry before I went back into the dining room to hug Tabitha from behind.

Tabitha:

I let Shade down and hugged Sphinx’s arms around me. “Mm, see, it wasn’t so bad meeting my family, was it?” I asked softly, leaning lightly against him.

"I didn't expect it to be too bad...just tense. And it was just as tense as I expected for a time." I said with a nod. I kissed her cheek then her neck before scooping her up in my arms bridal style. "Now, where is your room hm? I want to see what the room you grew up in looks like."

Tabitha:

“Oh, yeah, heh.” I said and just stood there. I was having second thoughts now, but there was nowhere else I could take him…

I raised an eyebrow down at her. "Hey, stop spacing out. Where am I taking you cutie." I leaned down to peck her nose with my lips.

Tabitha:

I sighed. “Alright, up the stairs, first door to the left.” I said in resignation. “You have to promise not to laugh though.” I said with a little pink in my cheeks.

I raised an eyebrow at the pink in her cheeks but I obediently carried her to the stairs. I moved extra slow on the stairs just to tease her. But I took the last ten, two at a time so I was standing outside her door rather quickly.

Tabitha:

I had him let me down then stood facing him, with my back to my door. “Remember, no laughing…” I said with my hand on the door knob behind me.

"I promise not to laugh. But I can't promise not to think it is so adorable." I promised her with a hand to her cheek.

Tabitha:

I sighed and opened the door. The floor was wood unlike the hallway and the rest of the rooms up stairs. My bed was pushed off in the corner to allow for maximum floor space, and the bed spread was light pink, not that you could see much of it due to the fact that it was nearly completely covered in stuffed animals, mostly wolves and foxes and bears. All of this was reflected in the solid wall of mirrors on the opposite side with a ballet bar running across it.
All of that wouldn’t have been that bad if the ceiling hadn’t been covered in pictures. Most of them were of dancers, or just pictures I liked. But a few of them were posters of fairly hairy, shirtless, and muscled guys.

I looked around taking it all in. Oh all the things that came to mind as I looked at it all. The things I could say, the things I could tease her about, the things I could laugh over. But I had made a promise to her. "Care to explain...." I gestured broadly with a smile my eyes still roaming over everything in her room.

Tabitha:

I went and sat on the bed. “Uh well… the mirror is self-explanatory. The stuffed animals… Well… I love them… But um, I’m guessing you mean the posters…” I grimaced a little. “I used to date this guy... Jake. He was a werewolf. And he was super into these werewolf movies. He put the posters up, they’re from movies.” I explained.

I took in a few deep breaths before going quiet. "Nope." I declared before I began laughing. It was a good laugh, making me bend at the waist and set my hands on my knees.
