| "No...I don't like hospital beds..." I murmured, feeling the warmth of his hands and finding a part of me enjoyed it. I let out a soft breath before pulling back a bit to look up at him. "You won the match. I knew it was going to happen. You are an assassin, use every advantage you have." | |

| Jonah: I shook my head, looking into her green eyes. “The point of that match wasn’t to kill you. If you had been my target, it would have gone much differently. It was supposed to prove who had more skill. And don’t believe it did that. Neither of us was physically at our best when we went into it, but you were worse off than I was. It wasn’t a fair fight.” I explained to her. | |

| "You are wrong...a spar, a target, a test. Always do your best Jonah. Skill doesn't matter. Win or lose. The rules were stated at the beginning. The goal was to win to prove our skills." I told him softly, searching his eyes. | |

| Jonah: “No, you’re wrong. I did do my best under the circumstances. But it wasn’t a true show of who was better. You should have postponed it if you knew you were going to fail.” I was frowning now. I felt like she had let me down. She was the one person in the school who could challenge me, and she had let me down. | |

| I gave a soft breath as if sighing. I shifted and in an instant he was done on his back. I was crouched on top of him, one arm pinned under my knee. Against his throat I held a scalpel, pressing hard enough that a drop of blood leaked out. "I know my limits Jonah. Since you won't take my word to accept your win. I will tell you. I have a timer. Unlike the rest of you I can only fight for so long before my body simply gives out. I know this happens, I know how long I have, I know the signs that come about." I leaned down to stare him directly in the eyes. "I chose to fight, do not belittle me for my choice. You insult me when you say such things. Do you respect me or not Jonah. Because I tire of being insulted for your beliefs." | |

| Jonah: She caught me off guard because I wasn’t expecting her to make a move like that, or that she had recovered enough to. And perhaps slightly because I was distracted by her bareness. I didn’t struggle once I was down. I thought I could get out of it if I had to, but I knew she wouldn’t kill me. The nick from the scalpel stung, but not as much as my broken ribs, I ignored both. “I did not intend to insult you. I respect you more than anyone else at this place. That’s why I was disappointed by our fight. I expected more. I expected it to finish, not just end. Perhaps I shouldn’t have gone into it with expectations, but I’ve been watching you ever since you got here, and for the first time, I found someone to rival me. I was excited for our match, and you let me down.” I had started as polite and controlled, but as my words flowed I let my feelings into it. I spoke without processing my words first and it caused me to say something’s that I wouldn’t otherwise. I was ashamed at the way I sounded like a child that had something taken away and was whiling about it. | |

| I growled softly. "You continue to insult me..." I looked down at him disappointment coming to my face. I got to my feet unsteadily and flicked the knife down to impale into the ground beside his ear. "How disappointing." I murmured as I moved past him into the room beyond the door. "File number 17D-4A. Password is Night Reborn." Do with it as you will." I said giving the file number that explained the issue that was wrong with my body. It was seperate from the rest of my hospital information. | |

| Jonah: I was frustrated both with myself ad her. On one hand I envied her for being so emotionless, on the other it irritated me that I could never get a reaction out of her. As I stood up I readjusting the brace over my ribs then left the room. I went to my own room and logged onto my lap top. It only took me a few minutes the get into the files of the school. I typed in what she told me and started reading. | |

| I had barely made it to my room before my body gave out and I couldn't walk anymore. I dropped any pretense of being strong. I had no one around and I shivered with a mixture of pain and sadness. A part of me wanted nothing more than to be strong. Strong so that Jonah and I could have a real fight. Not a spar where we had a timelimit. But a real thing. No holding back, just until both of us couldn't do it anymore. | |

| Jonah:
I sat in the common room reading a book from the library. I hadn't seen Kira since I left my room. Everyone else in the school was either recovering or getting ready to go back home for the break. Only a handful of students stayed here.
My attention was only half taken up by my book. I couldn't stop thinking about Kira. She had meant what she said about a timer. I couldn't understand why she was even here. If her body wasn't fit for the task of being an assassin why woulds she be sent to a school to train as one? Surely that would only wear her body out sooner. She must have come from a family that this would be the only option for her, no matter her health. I knew several of the students here came from families like that, Kyra and Andrew for example.

| I sat in my room, when I heard a soft beep coming from my computer. I looked at it in confusion, I hadn't turned it on. And I didn't have anyone to talk too with it. I moved over and opened up the email program. The name of the sender made my eyes go wide, but a flash of cold went through me as on the screen a red zero came up, giving a spin before turning into a smile with the words under it 'Good luck Kira! I'll be watching!'
I tilted my head at that before the zero and words left. I shook my head and moved on reading the email twice to be sure I had read it right. While everyone else would be gone, one of Maria's top people would be by to check and watch my performance. I was told not to disappoint.

| Jonah: I looked up from my book as I saw Emily coming out of the girl’s hallway. “I heard you won easily.” She said. Her nose had a bandage over it and there was bruising under her eyes. I looked her over for further damages. She was wearing a shall, but it only barely covered her arm that she was holding at an unnatural angle. She must have been wearing a sling underneath. It had been hours since their match, but I was surprised they let her go this soon. Kira had done a number on her. Though Emily had always been motivated, even if her entire body was aching, she would want to put of an appearance of being fine. “Not exactly.” I said simply leaning forward with my elbows resting on my knees. She seemed to hesitate. “You know, I told my family about you, I’m sure they wouldn’t mind if you joined us during the break.” She said quickly. I dropped my gaze and sat back. “That is a generous offer, but I would prefer to use my free time training.” I told her, giving her a soft smile so as not to hurt her feelings. | |

| I let out a small sigh as I moved back to the bed and flopped over. "Well then..." I murmured as I stared at the ceiling. I turned my eyes to look at the clock. Who knew when I would be summoned. So in the mean time I figured I should get my medicine and then warm up a little bit. So I grabbed a shirt, slipping it on and then filling a backpack with my fighters gloves and a change of clothes.
I shouldered the bag and moved out of the room, locking the door behind me. I moved down the hallway my eyes on the ground. I stopped behind someone and said softly, "Excuse me, could you move out of the way?" I asked, staring at their back.

| Jonah: Emily’s expression changed from disappointment to cold fury as she turned. She stepped to the side and held her hand up. “Oh,” She said coldly, “My bad, wouldn’t want to cause you to pass out.” I flicked my gaze to Kira, studying her for any signs of wear. I had a million questions for her but I didn’t think she would react well to them. | |

| I blinked at Emily. "At least my arm and nose aren't broken." I remarked softly, with as much effort in my voice as if we were talking about the weather. I shrugged my shoulders and moved past them. My eyes met Jonah's for a moment before I moved out of the common area and down the hallway. | |

I was amused by the altercation, and I had to keep the smile of my face, though it would have shown in my eyes. Emily made an infuriating noise once Kira was out of sight. “I can’t stand her, she’s hateful.” She spat. “She is different.” I said, like I agreed with her, though I was only half paying attention to the girl.

| I heard Jonah's words and I snorted softly, heading off towards the medical wing. "Hateful? I don't feel hate. It's not how I was trained." I remarked softly to the air as I walked down the empty corridor. | |

| Kyra: “I have already. My bag was packed last night.” I smiled. I couldn’t wait to get home. My aunt and uncle were even going to visit for a few days. It had been forever since I’d seen all my family. “Everyone else if taking it easy today. You should too, you deserve a break.” I told her kindly. | |

| "Can't. Enjoy your break Kyra." I said as I pressed my hand against the door to the girls locker room. I paused, the door open just a crack. My lips parted as I hesitated. "What was it like having family? Was she excited to see them all? But no words passed my lips and I pushed open the door instead. | |

| Kyra: “You too.” I muttered after she had gone through the door. I tried so hard to be her friend, but she always seemed so distant. I didn’t think she cared one way or another if I was nice to her. With a disappointed sigh I turned to go find my brother, we would be leaving soon. | |

| Pablo:
I rubbed the back of my neck, watching people skitter here and there. Those that were leaving I was jealous for, they had family and loved ones waiting for them at home. I had a cardboard box that I knew I couldn't fit inside of anymore. That box held together with odds and ends, propped up with other materials and holding all the treasures I had found growing up. But I did my best to cheer everyone on, get them pumped up to go. It was the least I could do. Everyone here gave me hope that my life could get better.
My eyes settled on Kyra as she walked dejectedly down the hallway. "Hey Kyra!" I called grinning as I kept rubbing the back of my neck.

| Kyra: “Hey, Pablo.” I said with a sweet smile. I liked Pablo, despite the fact that I had caught him looking down my shirt a few times. Then again, if he was standing next to me and looked down at me, it was hard not to see right down my shirt. And he wasn’t the only one, so I forgave it. “Rested up from your fight?” I asked looking up to him as he came closer. | |

| I nodded my eyes flicking briefly into her cleavage before lifting to focus on her eyes. "Of course." I grinned at her and absently flexed the muscles in my arms as I crossed them. The gesture was unconscious, a habit to intimidate most people. "I didn't really stand a chance against Jonah, but I'm glad I held out as long as I did. Hell, couldn't expect a repeat performance of last time right?" | |
