Pride of the Ocean

I gave a weak nod. "A-A little..." But I knew it wouldn't last.

"Someone help me please!!" I screamd. "This hurts so much!"

My eyes widened, and I sat up. "Dev!"

i stood up. "ok, now to find out how to find out how to get to my body." i closed my eyes and opened them again and i was back on the beach

I quickly swam to the surface, and looked all around. "DEV!!"

"Kakhi! Help please make it stop!" I screamd starting to cry

i ran up to the girl. "calm down, im going to help." i put my hand on hers and focused. "calm down, its going to be fine." i called out for the mermaid. "over here!"

"Just make it stop please!" I sobbed takeing the boys hand. I sniffed as more tears let marks as the flowed down my cheeks.

I swam to shore, but stopped, staring at them in fear and sadness. "I can't get out of the water..."

i lifted her, still conentrating hard. i set her next to the water. "shh, its going to be ok."

I quickly took Dev's hand, still in the water as tears ran down my face. "Come on... you'll be okay..."

I sniffed and groaned as slowly the pain ebbed away. "Kakhi whats going on?" I said my voice thick. I looked at him my eyelashes heavy with tears.

"I don't know..." I wanted to hug her, but I couldn't reach. "It's gonna be okay..."

i looked at him. "getting powers? who knows, but what ever it is, i can take pain and make it my own." i looked back down and could see her pain easing away, and mine getting heavier.

I looked at him. "You can't take it away forever!" I shouted.

I closed my eyes and memories of my mother slowly started to disapper. "Stop..stop!" I cried pulling back from the boy. "Stop it!"

I tried to pull her away from him. "We need our pain!"

"He's takeing away my mother." I said looking at him then back at Kakhi. I slipped into the water next to him and hugged him.

I hugged her back, tears still in my eyes. "Are you okay?" I asked quietly.

I nodded and shook alittle in his arms. I looked back at the other boy. "Thank you...for trying to help me."

I sighed, and closed my eyes. "Thanks..."

i nodded. "so, i never got your names." i laid back, letting the pain reside. then my own came back, the drunken father, the abusive mother, teasing from kids because of my eyes. religions hexing me because of the eyes. "Devil child!" ran in my ears. i took a deep breath and let it pass.

"Kakahi." I said quietly. "This is Dev."

i didnt move. "nice to meet you." i squeezed my eyes in pain, but they burst open, eyes glowing britghtly with green. my memories flooded my mind and i gave out a scream as i fell back down. my back archd and everything went fuzzy.

I wasn't sure what to do. Instinctivey, I pulled a scale off my tail and tossed it onto his chest. I was supposed to give him one, right?
