A Personal War (closed)

"well the ladies up there... they're stuck up, stiff, they think that everything they do is cute or adorable" i laughed "it's disgusting"

I laughed at that. "My mother is the- be a proper southern woman- type. Sewing, dancing, act a certain way to get the certain suitor..." I said disgusted.

"exactly" i shook my head "If i get through this my children will be free, happy to do and act as they want"

"You remind me of, me. I won't be forcing this lifestyle on my children. I rather start from the bottom up, even if that means never getting my dowry..."

"seems like we have similar thoughts and wants"

"Yes, seems like we do." I smiled and looked at him. I liked him... He wan't like normal guys who talked to me.

i looked at the trail we were following, a small clearing opened up with a creek running through the middle "wanna take a break?"

"Sure. I think he needs a break as well." I chuckled and patted my stallions neck.

i led the way to the creek and dismounted then prepared to help her

"I don't need help... I got on this horse myself, I can surely get off." I said and swung my leg over, sliding off and landing on the ground.

i laughed "just being curteous"

"Well, thank you anyway." I smiled and walked him towards the creek.

i laughed "this is what i miss about the south... The beauty in nature"

"This is why I'm never inside anymore. I can't stay away from it." I chuckled.

i laughed slightly too, but in reality I was only talking partially about the scenary

I patted the horses neck and smiled a bit. "Would you like to take a walk?"

"I would love to.... do you know how to swim?"

((i dont know about civil war times but earlier than that women never learned to swim, if they could they were called witches))

"neither do any of the other women my aunt tried to set me up with"

"Let me guess, you know how to?" I asked and smiled a little.

i nodded and smiled back

"You'll find the women in the south just like my mother. That's the reason I never learned to swim. Johnathan was going to teach me, and she found out. Kept a close eye on me after that."

"well... I could teach you.... warning you cant swim in a dress and skirts... at least not easily"

I chuckled at that. "You would teach me? A southern brat?"

I laughed "nothing wrong with the south"
